This paper proposes a fuzzy-rule-embedded reduction image construction method for image enlargement. A fuzzy rule is generated by considering distribution of pixel value around a target pixel. The generated rule is embedded into the target pixel in a reduction image. The embedded fuzzy rule is used in a fuzzy inference to generate a highly magnified image from the reduction image. Experimental results, which scale factors are three and four, show that the proposed method realizes high-quality image enlargement in terms of both objective and subjective evaluations in comparison with conventional methods.

Double- and triple-walled carbon nanotubes are studied in detail by laser energy-dependent Raman spectroscopy in order to get a deeper understanding about the second-order G′ band Raman process, general nanotube properties, such as electronic and vibrational properties, and the growth method itself. In this work, the inner nanotubes from the double- and triple-walled carbon nanotubes are produced through the encapsulation of fullerene peapods with high-temperature thermal treatments. We find that the spectral features of the G′ band, such as the intensity, frequency, linewidth, and line shape are highly sensitive to the annealing temperature variations. We also discuss the triple-peak structure of the G′ band observed in an individual triple-walled carbon nanotube taken at several laser energies connecting its Raman spectra with that for the G′ band spectra obtained for bundled triple-walled carbon nanotubes.

In the presented paper, we consider initial values entering into an element `zero' with period one for logistic maps over integers. First, we derive the logistic map over integers. Second, we describe that only two elements, namely zero and the maximum value in domain of the logistic map, enter into the loop with zero, respectively, for control parameters less than 4. Last, we show that three elements, zero, the maximum value and its half value, always enter into zero for the control parameter equals to 4, and we indicate experimentally that an event that these three initial values only entering into zero has a probability of about two-thirds for any precision. In conclusion, we will obtain a result that the probability that we choose initial values entering into the loop with zero is negligible, if we select a suitable precision for the logistic map over integers by a simple check.

Many studies about improving the performance of biped robots, especially energy efficiency and waking speed have been done. These properties, however, are secondary to the robot ability to prevent falling down on irregular grounds. In this paper, we propose a novel method which uses an active up-and-down wobbling mass to improve walking ability and robustness of biped robot on uneven terrain. We will show improvements that the number of walk steps is increased in numerical simulations using the proposed method. We also evaluate quantitatively walking ability of biped robot on uneven terrain using a performance measure called Gait Sensitivity Norm (GSN) and H ∞ norm. Furthermore, we show the effectiveness of H ∞ norm measure which cannot be evaluated by GSN in a walking example.

We have been developing a very high throughput WLAN system based on IEEE802.11ac's criteria. It combines MIMO and OFDM technology to provide throughput over 1 Gbps for 150 feet propagation distance by using 80 MHz of bandiwdth on 5 GHz frequency band. 4 by 5 antennas MIMO is set to get 2 nd -order diversity gain to maintain high throughput and performance. Greenfield preamble with novel phase rotation is employed to mitigate the overhead problem while reducing the peak to average power ratio of the signals. Run test to broadcast the ultra high definition video which resolution 4096 × 1714 pixels/frame with 30 frame/second under in-door channel model demonstrates an excellent performance of the developed system.

The authors measured electroencephalograms (EEGs) from subjects looking at line drawings of body parts and recalling their names silently. The equivalent current dipole source localization (ECDL) method is applied to the event related potentials (ERPs): summed EEGs. ECDs are localized to the primary visual area V1, to the ventral pathway (ITG: Inferior Temporal Gyrus), to the parahippocampus (ParaHip), the right angular gyrus (AnG), to the right supramarginal gyrus (SMG) and to the Wernike's area. Then ECDs are localized to the Broca's area, to the postcentral gyrus (PstCG) and to the fusiform gyrus (FuG), and again to the Broca's area. These areas are related to the integrated process of visual recognition of pictures and the retrieval of words. Some of these areas are also related to image recognition and word generation. Each rough set-based concept in the standard tables is redefined based on the possible world semantics. Especially, in rule generation, we reconsider the definition of rules, because the standard definition of rule generation cannot be applicable to defining rules in RNIA. In this paper, we propose a logistic map over prime fields, which is one way to implement the logistic map over real domain into a computer. We describe a definition and some properties for the logistic map over prime fields, and prove an automorphism between two maps with different control values. We also discuss both advantages and disadvantages of the existence for the automorphism, and an aptitude for the map used by the pseudorandom number generators.
