This paper proposes a method which gives a state space realization of the linear systems with algebraic loops not only in numerical format but also in symbolic format and guarantees that the order of the system is preserved. The method uses an adjacency matrix in graph theory for the modeling of the control systems and uses the matrix inversion lemma to calculate the inverse of matrix symbolically and to obtain the symbolic state space realizations. We have developed a new software platform for modeling and simulation of control systems using the proposed method.

This paper proposes a design method and programmable architectures for numerical function generators (NFGs) of two-variable functions. To realize a two-variable function in hardware, we partition a given domain of the given function into segments, and approximate the function by a polynomial in each segment. This paper introduces two planar segmentation algorithms that efficiently partition a domain of a two-variable function. This paper also introduces two architectures that can realize a wide range of two-variable functions. Our architectures allow a systematic design of two-variable functions. FPGA implementation results show that, for a complicated function, our NFG achieves 58% of memory size and 39% of delay time of a circuit designed using one-variable NFGs.

The correlation properties of fractal speckle distributions arising from superposition of three speckle waves propagating perpendicularly to one another are studied theoretically. The analytical expressions are derived for the intensity correlation of the superposed speckle fields, and the theoretical results are verified by means of computer simulations. It is shown that the spatial anisotropy of speckle patterns exists even when the three speckle waves are interfered with one another. This spatial anisotropy affects the power law distribution of intensity correlations for fractal speckles, leading to the speckle pattern which is not self-similar in two or three dimensions. As an application of the superposed speckle field, a method to fabricate a disordered medium by illuminating photopolymer with multiple laser speckle waves is proposed. Some preliminary experimental results are shown.

Shortening the product development time and reducing the cost have become very important issues in these days. The SLS technology contributes to these demands. In addition, the efficiency of material use is high, as SLS consumes only necessary amount of material. However, if it is not maintained properly, the material deterioration advances, finally, the recycled material causes a defective molding. In this case, we have to perform re-molding. This causes the delay of the development schedule. The prediction method of deterioration in the material for SLS should be discussed and studied. In this paper, fundamental experiment on the material degradation is conducted. The theoretical analysis of the degree of deterioration of material and the prediction method is discussed.

Non-uniform cooling in plastic injection mold is always an important problem. This paper proposed a new method of making mold with complicate cooling structure, and the cooling structure is optimized by genetic algorithm under unsteady state heat transfer.
