The design of an antenna requires a careful selection of its parameters to retain the desired ***,this task is time-consuming when the traditional approaches are employed,which represents a significant *** the other hand,machine learning presents an effective solution to this challenge through a set of regression models that can robustly assist antenna designers to find out the best set of design parameters to achieve the intended *** this paper,we propose a novel approach for accurately predicting the bandwidth of metamaterial *** proposed approach is based on employing the recently emerged guided whale optimization algorithm using adaptive particle swarm optimization to optimize the parameters of the long-short-term memory(LSTM)deep *** optimized network is used to retrieve the metamaterial bandwidth given a set of *** addition,the superiority of the proposed approach is examined in terms of a comparison with the traditional multilayer perceptron(ML),Knearest neighbors(K-NN),and the basic LSTM in terms of several evaluation criteria such as root mean square error(RMSE),mean absolute error(MAE),and mean bias error(MBE).Experimental results show that the proposed approach could achieve RMSE of(0.003018),MAE of(0.001871),and MBE of(0.000205).These values are better than those of the other competing models.

The automatic localization of the left ventricle(LV)in short-axis magnetic resonance(MR)images is a required step to process cardiac images using convolutional neural networks for the extraction of a region of interest(ROI).The precise extraction of the LV’s ROI from cardiac MRI images is crucial for detecting heart disorders via cardiac segmentation or ***,this task appears to be intricate due to the diversities in the size and shape of the LV and the scattering of surrounding tissues across different ***,this study proposed a region-based convolutional network(Faster R-CNN)for the LV localization from short-axis cardiac MRI images using a region proposal network(RPN)integrated with deep feature classification and *** was trained using images with corresponding bounding boxes(labels)around the LV,and various experiments were applied to select the appropriate layers and set the suitable *** experimental findings showthat the proposed modelwas adequate,with accuracy,precision,recall,and F1 score values of 0.91,0.94,0.95,and 0.95,*** model also allows the cropping of the detected area of LV,which is vital in reducing the computational cost and time during segmentation and classification ***,itwould be an ideal model and clinically applicable for diagnosing cardiac diseases.

The COVID-19 pandemic has expedited the shift in education to online learning, which has exposed shortcomings in virtual learning environments' personalization and engagement. This research addresses these issues by developing a web application designed to enhance student engagement and learning efficiency. The system has gamified collaboration features, video chapter segmentation, and personalized video recommendation system. The methodology comprises models for generating chapter titles and for precise video transcription, and machine learning algorithms for tailored suggestions depending on user input. Interactive Questions and Answers modules and real-time synchronized video playback are included. The results demonstrate how the system's personalized content, interactive tests, and teamwork tools increase user engagement and comprehension. The efficacy of personalized material and real-time synchronization in enhancing learning results is discussed. This innovative approach offers a comprehensive solution to the challenges of online education, creating a more immersive and interactive learning experience. © 2024 IEEE.

People with disabilities have physical, sensory, cognitive, or behavioral health problems that limit their participation in activities and interaction with the environment. Deafness is one of the most common types of disability in society. Since verbal communication is impossible for the deaf, sign language is one of the most often used forms of communication among those disable people. However, a third party who is fluent in sign language is necessary for efficient communication. This research study proposed a sign language detector for Sinhala using Logistic Regression, Ridge Classifier, Random Forest, and Gradient Boosting algorithms with human pose estimation. The method used upper-body stance landmarks with 100 human pose videos and 40 widely used signals to extract features for body language classification. With an overall 86.75% success rate, this study is a major step toward improving deaf people's communication in Sri Lanka. © 2024 IEEE.

In the modern era of a growing population,it is arduous for humans to monitor every aspect of sports,events occurring around us,and scenarios or *** recognition of different types of sports and events has increasingly incorporated the use of machine learning and artificial *** research focuses on detecting and recognizing events in sequential photos characterized by several factors,including the size,location,and position of people’s body parts in those pictures,and the influence around those *** approaches utilized,here are feature descriptors such as MSER(Maximally Stable Extremal Regions),SIFT(Scale-Invariant Feature Transform),and DOF(degree of freedom)between the joint points are applied to the skeleton ***,for the same purposes,other features such as BRISK(Binary Robust Invariant Scalable Keypoints),ORB(Oriented FAST and Rotated BRIEF),and HOG(Histogram of Oriented Gradients)are applied on full body or *** integration of these techniques increases the discriminative nature of characteristics retrieved in the identification process of the event,hence improving the efficiency and reliability of the entire *** extracted features are passed to the early fusion and DBscan for feature fusion and *** deep belief,network is employed for *** results demonstrate a separate experiment’s detection average recognition rate of 87%in the HMDB51 video database and 89%in the YouTube database,showing a better perspective than the current methods in sports and event identification.

This article examines the development of a Digital Learning Ecosystem (DLE) for engineering education, supported by online learning, within the framework of Erasmus+ international educational projects. We hypothesize that a DLE can address the challenges posed by rapid technological changes associated with Industry 4.0 and digital transformation, thus transforming engineering education to meet modern industry needs. Building on the earlier Erasmus+ CybPhys project, which established a Sharing Modelling and Simulation Environment (SMSE) for digitalizing online technical courses, the DIGITRANS project aims to enhance this architecture to include remote laboratories through the Sharing Remote Experiment Environment (SREE) platform. The project involves acquiring hardware and open-source software for SREE and establishing two physical remote laboratories. A study conducted in spring 2023, using the Technology Acceptance Model framework, indicated positive student perceptions of SMSE, with students believing it would enhance learning outcomes and expressing intentions to use the platform frequently. The efficacy of the DLE in addressing technological advancement challenges will be further evaluated through post-ante assessments and feedback from prospective employers and stakeholders, focusing on the implementation of industry recommendations and the correlation between pre- and post-implementation survey responses from industry and academic experts. © 2024 IEEE.

Personas, a user characterisation, have been widely used in requirements engineering (RE) to enhance the understanding of end-users and their needs. However, the persona generation process is time-consuming and demands familiarity with a user-centered approach. The central issue lies in existing tools for automatically generating personas, which are restricted to generating persona templates and provide limited user control to tailor personas according to their specific needs. This paper introduces CRAFTER, a persona generation tool that uses Large Language Models (GPT-3.5 model). This tool not only automates persona creation but also offers recommendations to users for generating personas tailored to their requirements. The study involved an online questionnaire with 19 respondents who utilised the tool, providing feedback that indicated the tool’s sufficiency for persona generation while identifying areas for improvement. Beyond its primary function, CRAFTER stands out by providing guidance to requirements engineers throughout the persona creation process. The tool grants users the flexibility to customise personas based on their specific requirements, acknowledging the crucial human subjectivity in persona development. Additionally, CRAFTER promotes persona reusability, allowing users to save and reuse generated personas for future projects. © 2024 by SCITEPRESS – Science and Technology Publications, Lda.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are crucial elements of the innate immune system;and they are effective against bacteria that cause several diseases. These peptides are investigated as potential alternatives of antibiotics to treat infections. Since wet lab experiments are expensive and time-consuming, computational methods become crucial in this field. In this study, we suggest a computational technique for AMP prediction using deep neural networks (DNN). We trained a DNN classifier using physicochemical features that include a sequential model;and evaluated the model with 10-fold cross-validation on a benchmark dataset. We compared our method with other machine learning approaches and demonstrated that the method we developed generates higher performance (accuracy: 92%, precision: 92%, recall: 93%, f1: 93%, AUC: 98%). In our experiments, we have realized that there is a strong positive correlation between the ‘Normalized Hydrophobic Moment’ feature and ‘Angle Subtended by the Hydrophobic Residues’ feature;and strong negative correlations between ‘Normalized Hydrophobicity’ feature and ‘Disordered Conformation Propensity’ feature, and between ‘Amphilicity Index’ - ‘Disordered Conformation Propensity’ features. We believe that the approach we proposed could guide further experimental studies and could facilitate the prediction of other types of AMPs having anticancer, antivirus, antiparasitic activities. © 2023 by SCITEPRESS – Science and Technology Publications, Lda.

Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP) are vital for today’s businesses. However, the successful implementation of ERP systems faces several challenges, which can determine its success or failure. This paper provides a brief state-of-the-art review of the success factors of ERP implementation using various applications that span different contexts. The paper discusses and compares the aims defined and the techniques applied in these studies, as well as the data used and the results obtained from each of these studies. This review paper reviews published work to tackle these challenges, covering the literature published in 2020-2023. A special effort was also made to focus on high-quality papers published in top journals with high-impact factors and indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. The review process is repeatable, as special keywords were used to search the literature using publishers’ databases and three specialized tools. The paper concludes by discussing the future of the successful implementation of ERP systems. The paper argues that ERP systems will continue to have a major impact on the success of today’s businesses. Therefore, they must carefully consider various factors that influence their successful implementation. © 2024 IEEE.
