In a network design, the control plane and the data plane are separated by the architectural concept of software defined networking (SDN). A centralised controller that serves as the only point of control for the whole network is introduced by the SDN architecture. The controller serves as a logically centralized entity in charge of communicating the appropriate rules to a switch's flow table. Using a single controller to handle a lot of flows becomes insufficient. A lot of large-scale networks have employed multi-controller SDN to meet their objectives. In this research, we use a multi-controller infinite buffer waiting queue model to analyze the system performance metrics. Both numerical and simulated assessments are used to illustrate the proposed model. © 2023 IEEE.

The deterioration of transmission lines has a profound effect on the reliability and safety of the power grid. Accurate estimation of their age is critical for effective maintenance and investment planning. This paper proposes a method that combines the percentage statistical health index (%SHI) with failure probability curve-fitting (FPCF) to estimate the ages of overhead transmission lines. %SHI assesses equipment condition through scoring and weighting, while FPCF correlates SHI with the probability of failure. Evaluation of 924 towers situated in various terrains across Thailand reveals discrepancies between estimated and actual ages, influenced by environmental factors. To enhance reliability, proactive maintenance strategies such as regular inspections and advanced monitoring are recommended. © 2024 The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers (KIEE).

The rapid proliferation of intelligent Internet of Health Things (IoHT) applications within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic has exerted significant strain on the backhaul network infrastructure. This paper aims to introduce a novel framework that leverages software-defined networking (SDN) to enhance edge computing capabilities. This framework will expect to facilitate dynamic and adaptable communication between edge and cloud servers, specifically designed to support real-time Internet of Health Things applications. Through the establishment of a connection between servers and the software-Defined Networking controller, the system is expected to facilitate load balancing, network optimization, and the utilization of resources in an efficient manner. This, in turn, enables the provision of real-time healthcare services. Ultimately, the efficacy of the suggested framework is assessed by analyzing its impact on service response time. The research results indicate that the proposed framework significantly benefits IoHT systems' service response times across various workloads and traffic. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a development of a novel path planning algorithm, called Generalized Laser simulator (GLS), for solving the mobilerobot path planning problem in a two-dimensional map with the presence ofconstraints. This approach gives the possibility to find the path for a wheelmobile robot considering some constraints during the robot movement inboth known and unknown environments. The feasible path is determinedbetween the start and goal positions by generating wave of points in alldirection towards the goal point with adhering to constraints. In simulation,the proposed method has been tested in several working environments withdifferent degrees of complexity. The results demonstrated that the proposedmethod is able to generate efficiently an optimal collision-free path. Moreover,the performance of the proposed method was compared with the A-star andlaser simulator (LS) algorithms in terms of path length, computational timeand path smoothness. The results revealed that the proposed method hasshortest path length, less computational time and the best smooth path. Asan average, GLS is faster than A∗ and LS by 7.8 and 5.5 times, respectivelyand presents a path shorter than A∗ and LS by 1.2 and 1.5 times. In orderto verify the performance of the developed method in dealing with constraints, an experimental study was carried out using a Wheeled Mobile Robot(WMR) platform in labs and roads. The experimental work investigates acomplete autonomous WMR path planning in the lab and road environmentsusing a live video streaming. Local maps were built using data from a live video streaming with real-time image processing to detect segments of theanalogous-road in lab or real-road environments. The study shows that theproposed method is able to generate shortest path and best smooth trajectoryfrom start to goal points in comparison with laser simulator.

Cardiac arrhythmias pose a significant challenge to health care, requiring accurate and reliable detection methods to enable early diagnosis and treatment. However, traditional ECG beat classification methods often lack robustness and fail to generalize effectively to diverse clinical scenarios, particularly when using single-lead-I recordings, which are less studied compared to lead II. To address this gap, this paper proposes a novel method that combines deep learning and empirical mode decomposition (EMD) for arrhythmia detection using single-lead-I ECG recordings obtained with electrodes on each hand. The hybrid model comprises 149 layers of one-dimensional convolution, max pooling, and residual blocks. By leveraging EMD, it classifies ECG beats into normal beats, premature ventricular contractions, and atrial premature beats with high sensitivity (99.86%, 99.72%, and 99.84%, respectively) using the first four intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). The proposed method is applicable in clinical and out-of-hospital monitoring scenarios, and an accompanying web application provides real-time analysis and diagnostic results. This approach addresses a critical gap in lead-I ECG analysis, enhancing diagnostic precision and expanding the scope of ECG applications in health care. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

People take various types of cereals every day in their regular meals, but most people do not know their importance while consuming them. Each cereal has its benefit. One such cereal content is dry beans. Dry beans are a variety of beans that are produced in pods. These dry beans can be cooked and eaten, and it has numerous proteins and vitamins and are highly beneficial for our health. It also provides excellent immunity. Each bean has its characteristics, which can be identified with its unique features. These can be oval or kidney-shaped or even without a proper shape. According to their shape and features, they are classified separately. These nutrient-rich beans have to be classified based on their shapes. Human eyes sometimes may oversee or misclassify these tiny cereals for classification. This work involves the classification of 7 such dry bean varieties utilizing a deep learning context. The dataset utilized in this paper includes 13611 dry bean data for seven different UCI Machine learning repositories. In this work, we have taken seven different categorical labels: the dry bean varieties. The classification is done using deep learning techniques, and here we have utilized the Keras Sequential Algorithm for the classification. It is a supervised learning concept of machine learning used to predict two or more categorical labels. With the help of the deep learning approach, these dry beans are classified and obtained an accuracy of 94.88%. © 2023 IEEE.

Smart cities, industrial automation, healthcare, and environmental monitoring are just a few of the industries that have seen revolutionary changes as a result of Wireless Sensor Networks’ (WSNs) explosive growth. WSNs are significantly hampered by the limited energy resources of their sensor nodes, which are usually battery-powered and placed in inaccessible locations, despite their wide-ranging applications. As a result, energy efficiency is now a crucial component of these networks’ operation and design. Though these protocols frequently fail to adjust to the dynamic and unpredictable nature of WSNs, traditional energy-aware routing methods have been created to decrease energy consumption by choosing the best paths for data transfer. By allowing sensor nodes to learn from their surroundings and make wise routing decisions, the machine learning field of reinforcement learning (RL) provides a viable answer to these problems. In contrast to conventional techniques, RL-based protocols provide continuous energy optimization by dynamically modifying their routing strategies in response to real-time feedback. This paper investigates how to include RL methods—specifically, Q-learning and SARSA—into WSN energy-aware routing protocols. The suggested method creates a more distributed and scalable solution by enabling each node to independently learn and modify its routing choices. The effectiveness of RL-based routing protocols is compared to traditional methods through comprehensive simulations. The findings show that by slowing down the rate at which energy is being used up by each node, RL not only increases energy efficiency but also lengthens the network's operational life. In particular, Q-learning demonstrates a notable improvement in sustaining data delivery rates and network connectivity under various circumstances. In-class teaching not only concentrates on lecture content delivery but also on maintaining strong mutuality between lecturer-students and student-student. Online lectures are gaining popularity due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the learning-teaching process has become ineffective because existing video conferencing solutions are not intended for academic purposes. This research was conducted to identify the pain points of online education and develop an enhanced software solution. A user survey confirmed that an isolated environment tends to diminish attentiveness during online lectures. Also, it is difficult for teachers to observe the attentiveness of all the students. As a solution, student attentiveness was measured using their facial expressions and collected data shown to lecturers through a virtual student behavioural environment. The physical separation causes students to feel isolated during lectures, which can negatively affect their academic development and social and psychological development. The developed application also provides a virtual group study environment as a feature. According to the results gathered in the user acceptance testing phase, it was found that the attention detection feature helps students keep their attention at a significant level. Further, 9 out of 10 teachers who participated in the testing acknowledged that the simulated student behavioural view could provide a more immersive experience. 71% of students preferred the new collaborative virtual environment, and students further elaborated that the virtual environment was more likely the physical group studies. 72% of students mentioned that the collaborative group study tool helped eliminate isolation during group studies. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a new pseudorandom bit sequence generator, which is based on a method digging out walls. Although each of these sequences lacks enough randomness, synthesized sequences of them can pass all of the NIST statistical test suite. We also describe a conjectural relation between the number of types on the square mazes and their sizes. © 2023 IEEE.
