The software engineering field has long focused on creating high-quality software despite limited *** defects before the testing stage of software development can enable quality assurance engineers to con-centrate on problematic modules rather than all the *** approach can enhance the quality of the final product while lowering development *** defective modules early on can allow for early corrections and ensure the timely delivery of a high-quality product that satisfies customers and instills greater confidence in the development *** process is known as software defect prediction,and it can improve end-product quality while reducing the cost of testing and *** study proposes a software defect prediction system that utilizes data fusion,feature selection,and ensemble machine learning fusion techniques.A novel filter-based metric selection technique is proposed in the framework to select the optimum features.A three-step nested approach is presented for predicting defective modules to achieve high *** the first step,three supervised machine learning techniques,including Decision Tree,Support Vector Machines,and Naïve Bayes,are used to detect faulty *** second step involves integrating the predictive accuracy of these classification techniques through three ensemble machine-learning methods:Bagging,Voting,and ***,in the third step,a fuzzy logic technique is employed to integrate the predictive accuracy of the ensemble machine learning *** experiments are performed on a fused software defect dataset to ensure that the developed fused ensemble model can perform effectively on diverse *** NASA datasets are integrated to create the fused dataset:MW1,PC1,PC3,PC4,and *** to the results,the proposed system exhibited superior performance to other advanced techniques for predicting software defects,achieving a remarkable accuracy rate of 92.08%.

Potato is the most widely grown and consumed food throughout the world. There are a number of potato crop diseases that affect production, and these diseases differ in symptoms, circumstances, and controls. Early detection and recognition of disease information can aid in disease prevention and production. This paper presents deep learning models using proposed CNN and pre-trained models for potato disease detection and classification. The proposed model is more efficient and accurate at detection and classification. To perform classification, we used two datasets: PLD and PlantVillage. The Xception CNN model serves as the foundation for our proposed model. It achieved 1.00 accuracy, 0.99 precision, 1.00 recall, and 0.99 F1-score on the PLD dataset. On the PlantVillage dataset, it achieved 1.00 accuracy, 1.00 precision, 1.00 recall, and 1.00 F1-score. We also compared the results of Inception-ResNet-V2, MobileNet-V2, VGG-19, Inception-V3, and Xception models with the performance of our proposed model. For three classes of potato leaves, the proposed CNN model produced more accurate results than other pre-trained models. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Hypertension is one of the most common diseases in Jordan. It is one of the main reasons of death among Jordanian adult citizens. Worldwide, nearly 13% of all deaths are due to Hypertension with nearly 8 million deaths yearly. Hence, this research is interested in the early prediction of this disease among Jordanian people. To achieve this main objective, Machine Learning (ML) is utilized through a large number of classification models and considering five well-known evaluation metrics. These classification models have been trained on a primary dataset that has been collected for the purpose of the research. The results revealed that Random Forest, Random Committee, and MultilayerPerceptron are the best classification models to handle the task of the early prediction of Hypertension in Jordan. © 2024 IEEE.

Finding a barrier-free accessible path through the built environment is necessary for wheelchair users. Researchers have identified the effect of surface vibration on the health of wheelchair users and proposed various solutions to identify and annotate mobility barriers. However, the effects of surface-induced vibration on accessibility are yet to be investigated. In order to address this problem, we present the WheelShare system, which uses machine learning to identify surfaces and curbs from vibration captured by accelerometer and gyroscope sensors (both smartphone and wearable device). WheelShare allows users to share their collected data via crowdsourcing. Based on this surface-specific vibration, we recognize 32 different surfaces found across the built environment (in Austria, China, France, Germany, India, and the USA for 32 human subjects) with an accuracy of 97.5%. The recognized surfaces are then grouped into different categories based on their characteristics. Our novel contributions in this article include the following. 1) We have developed a machine-learning-enabled surface recognition system that uses sensor data to capture surface-induced vibration patterns. 2) We have tested the robustness of the system for devices with only accelerometer data (such as low-end smartphones) and achieved an accuracy of 91.6%. 3) We have deployed our prototype WheelShare system for real-time surface classification in new sites that are unseen in training and testing and successfully recognized the surface characteristics. © 2020 IEEE.

The complexity of the entire process of supply chain management (SCM) is quite cumbersome and traditional way of handling it is devoid of proper authentication and security and very often suffers from human errors in dealing with flaws in quality control process of SCM. While it may have started with shipment tracking, the outcome of using IoT on supply chains has spread to every link in the chain. For instance, manufacturers are employing Internet-enabled sensors in production to find product faults, resulting in higher-quality production runs. Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) is a defense countermeasure that exploits the exclusive, unrepeatable features of hardware components to generate distinct cryptographic keys or identifiers, typically for a semiconductor device like an Internet of Things (IoT) device. The distinctive proof of identity of IoT devices in the supply chain is employed by means of PUFs as inviolable IDs. Blockchain, the distributed, immutable ledger, on the other hand is the disruptive technology that provides higher security as compared to traditional centralized systems. The integration of PUF and blockchain proves to be quite interesting while handling the above issues of authentication. A smart contract on the blockchain is a software code that executes spontaneously as and when the conditions of the contract or agreement are satisfied. Hence after authentication process the results are fed to blockchain smart contract for the final validation. This paper presents a novel permissioned blockchain smart contract-based lightweight authentication scheme for SCM using PUF of IoT known as SPUFChain. Informal and formal security analysis (using AVISPA and BAN logic) of the proposed framework show its efficiency to resist several threat scenarios like man-in-the middle, non-repudiation, impersonation, replay attacks and many other security features as compared to other related schemes. This paper introduces a novel approach for extending the applicability of pre-trained models to accommodate longer texts. Addressing the inherent limitation of quadratic performance in attention models within transformers, we propose the concept of fused transformers. By integrating new adaptor techniques, we enhance the encoding of lengthy text segments by breaking them into shorter spans. Subsequently, these segments are fused to increase the model's effectiveness in processing extended texts. This fusion mechanism serves to fortify the model's capacity for fine-tuning. Furthermore, we implement a length-based curriculum for expedited training Our experiments yielded 16 Rouge-2 points, representing a doubling of the score achieved by the vanilla fine-tuning method on the newly introduced "Mukhtasar" dataset for summarization. This highlights the effectiveness of managing complex relations among text segments and confirms that our method can outperform conventional training approaches. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. The modern digital age demands the skills to be able to assess information. In the current world, access to information and knowledge is abundant from different sources. Indeed, high-quality data are much needed in education and professional development, as the quality and accuracy of information directly influence the process of learning and decision-making. The study aims to investigate the perceptions of computer science students at the University of Dunaújváros related to the credibility of diverse information sources. Within a questionnaire, on a voluntary answer basis, 68 students took part, 59 males and nine females. This work is aimed at assessing the degree to which the surveyed students evaluate information sources based on a five-point Likert scale. The data shows that students find print books and textbooks as the most reliable sources;social media are the least reliable. The study also supports the importance of source credibility evaluation, for which lateral reading techniques and AI-based news source credibility identification systems can be helpful. These findings suggest the necessity of bettering the educational approaches to foster better source criticism skills in the students, especially for online content and social media. The study generally contributes to understanding the information society and helps prepare students to obtain and use reliable and accurate information in their future careers. Using AI-based tools and systems can then further support these educational efforts with robust mechanisms to evaluate information credibility in an ever more complex digital landscape. © 2024 IEEE.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is a major global health threat that was spreading very quickly around the world. Many mathematical models are being formulated to study the spread of COVID-19 and to predict its evolution, in order to help mitigating future outbreaks. The Susceptible-Exposed-Infectious-Recovered (SEIR) model is considered a prevalent model that describes various diseases outbreaks including COVID-19. The model divides the individuals into four groups;susceptible, exposed, infectious, recovered. To predict the evolution of the pandemic using the SEIR model, we first estimate the parameters as well as initial conditions. In this work, we model the spreading of COVID-19 pandemic using the SEIR in Gaza Strip to identify the better fitting model for forecasting future spread. The data required for estimation was collected between March 1st, 2021 and December 31st, 2021. The simulation results using SEIR model showed a significant model fitting, as there is no considerable difference from the real data compared to the respective model values. We also study the severity of the pandemic by identifying two important parameters;the basic reproduction rate (Ro), which determines the speed of the spread of COVID-19;and the infection fatality ratio (IFR) which estimates the proportion of deaths among all infected individuals. We obtained a value of Ro = 0. 89. IFR value is ranged between 0.079% and 0.085%, which is less than the global average of about 0.15%. © 2023 IEEE.

LaneDraw: Cascaded lane and its bifurcation detection with nested fusion

Lane and its bifurcation detection is a vital and active research topic in low cost camera-based autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance system(ADAS). The common lane detection pipeline usually predicts lane segmentation mask firstly, and then makes line fitting by parabola or spline post-processing. However, if the speed of the lane and its bifurcation detection is fast and robust enough, we think curve fitting is not a necessary step. The goal of this work is to get accurate lane segmentation,identification of every lane, adaptability of lane numbers and the right combination of lane bifurcation. In this work, we relabeled lane and its bifurcation with solid line if the image of Tu Simple dataset has both of them. In the data training process, we apply a data balance strategy for the heavily biased lane and non-lane data. In such a way, we develop a competitive cascaded instance lane detection model and propose a novel bifurcation pixel embedding nested fusion method based on full binary segmentation pixel embedding with self-grouping cluster, called Lane Draw. Our method discards curve fitting process, therefore it reduces the complexity of post-processing and increases detection speed at 35 fps. Moreover, the proposed method yields better performance and high accuracy on the relabeled Tu Simple dataset. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt in 2 D lane and bifurcation detection, which more often happens in actual situations.
