Analyzing and evaluating students' progress in any learning environment is stressful and time consuming if done using traditional analysis methods. This is further exasperated by the increasing number of students due to the shift of focus toward integrating the Internet technologies in education and the focus of academic institutions on moving toward e-Learning, blended, or online learning models. As a result, the topic of student performance prediction has become a vibrant research area in recent years. To address this, machine learning and data mining techniques have emerged as a viable solution. To that end, this work proposes the use of deep learning techniques (CNN and RNN-LSTM) to predict the students' performance at the midpoint stage of the online course delivery using three distinct datasets collected from three different regions of the world. Experimental results show that deep learning models have promising performance as they outperform other optimized traditional ML models in two of the three considered datasets while also having comparable performance for the third dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

A key method used in the study of Natural Language Processing (NLP) is sentiment analysis, or emotion analysis, plays a pivotal role in text analysis. Its primary function is to discern and categorize the underlying emotions within textual content, classifying them as positive, neutral, or negative sentiments. A variety of textual inputs can be used with this process, including entire documents, individual sentences, and more. Understanding the sentiments expressed by individuals is of paramount importance to organizations in today's digital age. Clients and customers now have the means to express their thoughts and emotions with greater ease and immediacy than ever before. This wealth of sentiment data can offer valuable insights that organizations can leverage to enhance their products, services, and overall customer experience. The present study focuses on the sentiment analysis of Twitter data related to the COVID-19 pandemic, employing the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) algorithm. To improve the accuracy of sentiment analysis, a pre-processing procedure is introduced, which involves the use of the Neat Text module in Python to clean the tweets. In this research endeavor, a dataset comprising 1,79,107 COVID-19-related tweets is subjected to sentiment analysis using the proposed pre-processing module and LSTM. The results demonstrate an impressive accuracy rate of 96% in accurately determining the sentiments conveyed in these COVID-19 tweets. In contrast, the existing algorithm, based on Artificial Neural Network (ANN), achieved a significantly lower accuracy rate of 76%. This research not only showcases the effectiveness of LSTM and pre-processing in sentiment analysis but also highlights the significance of sentiment analysis in gaining valuable insights from vast amounts of textual data, especially when important events like the COVID-19 pandemic are involved. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. The usage of online entertainment has increased dramatically after some time with the enhancement of the Internet and has turned into the most compelling systems administration stage in this century. Notwithstanding, the upgrade of a social network regularly makes adverse consequences on society that add to two or three terrible peculiarities, for example, online maltreatment, badgering cyberbullying, cybercrime, and internet savaging. Cyberbullying habitually prompts genuine mental and actual misery, especially for ladies and kids, and even occasionally make them to use self-destruction methods. Multiple number of episodes have as of late happened worldwide because of online badgering, like sharing private talks, bits of hearsay, and sexual comments. In this way, the distinguishing proof of harassing messages or messages via online entertainment has gained a significant measure for development for consideration with in scientists. The rapid development of Internet technology derived out a massive network text data. Therefore, how to classify the massive text data efficiently has important theoretical significance and application value. In order to acquire accurate classification results, the process has been divided into two parts. In terms of text representation, this paper proposes an online field feature selection algorithm (OFFS algorithm) based on streaming data, which solves the problems of low efficiency and memory consumption of traditional feature selection algorithms. With improvements in the vector space model, the new algorithm can select the real-time feature of the data and quickly generate text vector. In the aspect of classifier design, an OFFS-BP neural network text classifier based on BP neutral network and OFFS algorithm is designed. It adapts to the distributed parallel computing, reduces the training time and balances the computation efficiency and classification accuracy. Finally based on the Spark platform, the OFFS-BP neural network classifier is implemented. The experimental results show that the OFFS-BP neural network classifier is more suitable for big data environment with less computation time and higher classification efficiency. © Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2018.

As corona virus disease(COVID-19)is still an ongoing global outbreak,countries around the world continue to take precautions and measures to control the spread of the *** of the excessive number of infected patients and the resulting deficiency of testing kits in hospitals,a rapid,reliable,and automatic detection of COVID-19 is in extreme need to curb the number of *** analyzing the COVID-19 chest X-ray images,a novel metaheuristic approach is proposed based on hybrid dipper throated and particle swarm *** lung region was segmented from the original chest X-ray images and augmented using various transformation ***,the augmented images were fed into the VGG19 deep network for feature *** the other hand,a feature selection method is proposed to select the most significant features that can boost the classification ***,the selected features were input into an optimized neural network for *** neural network is optimized using the proposed hybrid *** experimental results showed that the proposed method achieved 99.88%accuracy,outperforming the existing COVID-19 detection *** addition,a deep statistical analysis is performed to study the performance and stability of the proposed *** results confirm the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed approach.

Metaheuristic optimization algorithms present an effective method for solving several optimization problems from various types of applications and *** metaheuristics and evolutionary optimization algorithms have been emerged recently in the literature and gained widespread attention,such as particle swarm optimization(PSO),whale optimization algorithm(WOA),grey wolf optimization algorithm(GWO),genetic algorithm(GA),and gravitational search algorithm(GSA).According to the literature,no one metaheuristic optimization algorithm can handle all present optimization *** novel optimization methodologies are still *** Al-Biruni earth radius(BER)search optimization algorithm is proposed in this *** proposed algorithm was motivated by the behavior of swarm members in achieving their global *** search space around local solutions to be explored is determined by Al-Biruni earth radius calculation method.A comparative analysis with existing state-of-the-art optimization algorithms corroborated the findings of BER’s validation and testing against seven mathematical optimization *** results show that BER can both explore and avoid local *** has also been tested on an engineering design optimization *** results reveal that,in terms of performance and capability,BER outperforms the performance of state-of-the-art metaheuristic optimization algorithms.

Historical Arabic Images Classification and Retrieval Using Siamese Deep Learning Model

Classifying the visual features in images to retrieve a specific image is a significant problem within the computer vision field especially when dealing with historical faded colored ***,there were lots of efforts trying to automate the classification operation and retrieve similar images *** reach this goal,we developed a VGG19 deep convolutional neural network to extract the visual features from the images ***,the distances among the extracted features vectors are measured and a similarity score is generated using a Siamese deep neural *** Siamese model built and trained at first from scratch but,it didn’t generated high evaluation ***,we re-built it from VGG19 pre-trained deep learning model to generate higher evaluation ***,three different distance metrics combined with the Sigmoid activation function are experimented looking for the most accurate method formeasuring the similarities among the retrieved *** that the highest evaluation parameters generated using the Cosine distance ***,the Graphics Processing Unit(GPU)utilized to run the code instead of running it on the Central Processing Unit(CPU).This step optimized the execution further since it expedited both the training and the retrieval time *** extensive experimentation,we reached satisfactory solution recording 0.98 and 0.99 F-score for the classification and for the retrieval,respectively.
