The Internet of Things (IoT) has recently emerged as a transformative paradigm driven by technological advancements. Networks comprised of connected devices face numerous challenges, particularly in facilitating communication among these devices. These challenges arise due to the inherent constraints of IoT, such as limited power and the nature of Low Power and Lossy Networks (LLNs). LLNs require an efficient routing protocol that can cater to the needs of diverse applications while managing these constraints effectively. Over the past few years, The IETF ROLL (Routing Over Low Power and Lossy Networks) working group has developed a new routing protocol, RPL (IPv6 Routing Protocol for LLNs). RPL leverages objective functions to construct and optimize routing paths to ensure efficient data transmission within LLNs. Nevertheless, the IETF ROLL group did not specify the exact number or types of metrics to be employed in these objective functions, leaving room for customization based on specific application requirements. This study delves into the RPL routing protocol, examining its structure and functionality. Furthermore, we propose a novel objective function that integrates multiple metrics to enhance routing performance. The integration of these metrics is accomplished through fuzzy logic, enabling a more flexible and nuanced approach to decision-making in the routing process. This method aims to improve the overall efficiency and reliability of data transmission within LLNs, addressing the unique challenges posed by IoT environments. © 2024 IEEE.

Recently,multimodal multiobjective optimization problems(MMOPs)have received increasing *** goal is to find a Pareto front and as many equivalent Pareto optimal solutions as *** some evolutionary algorithms for them have been proposed,they mainly focus on the convergence rate in the decision space while ignoring solutions *** this paper,we propose a new multiobjective fireworks algorithm for them,which is able to balance exploitation and exploration in the decision *** first extend a latest single-objective fireworks algorithm to handle *** we make improvements by incorporating an adaptive strategy and special archive guidance into it,where special archives are established for each firework,and two strategies(i.e.,explosion and random strategies)are adaptively selected to update the positions of sparks generated by fireworks with the guidance of special ***,we compare the proposed algorithm with eight state-of-the-art multimodal multiobjective algorithms on all 22 MMOPs from CEC2019 and several imbalanced distance minimization *** results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to compared algorithms in solving ***,its runtime is less than its peers'.

Children are the future of this world. Therefore, teaching them to have a better future is very important. Also, as the adults we have to motivate them to overcome the obstacles and challenges they face throughout their lifetime. When considering about the children, there are various types of children in our society. As examples there are children with special needs and there are children who are mentally and physically stable. Children with special needs require special attention than the other children. These kinds of children with special needs have various types of development disabilities. They are children with low psychological maturity level, autism, down syndrome, genetic disorders etc. We have proposed a system to motivate these children who are with low psychological maturity level named as 'STEP-UP'. This system is a combination of four individual modules that have the common goal to motivate these kinds of children which were implemented using gamification, Image processing, machine learning and Human computer Interaction. One individual module is focused on disabled children, and it will motivate those children using gamification. Another two modules are focusing on the children who are with low psychological maturity level. And that will motivate those kinds of children using gamification and HCI based technologies like Virtual Reality. The other module is a protocol to secure the data sent between the system and the database. The common goal of this overall STEP-UP system is to motivate the children with low psychological maturity level and disabled children. © 2022 IEEE.

Determining the critical factors affecting antenatal visits will greatly contribute to reducing maternal and infant mortality. This study, thus attempted to construct a cluster-based predictive model to determine the critical factors of antenatal care follow-up among women in Ethiopia using two-step machine learning techniques. The 5,990 preprocessed obstetric dataset with 13 selected attributes were used that was collected from the Dabat Research Center at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia. To solve the study problem, six cluster models were developed using K-means, Expectation Maximization and Make Density clustering algorithms, which are well-suited for analyzing health datasets, providing scalability, flexibility, robustness to noise, and the ability to handle uneven cluster sizes. K-means out-formers Density based and Expectation Maximization clustering algorithms with minimum number of sum of square errors (17094) and number of iteration (3). Then, output of the K-means cluster model was used as input to segment the dataset and build a total of 21 predictive models using the tree-based J48 classifier, PART and JRip rule generators while adjusting their parameters. The model for predicting antenatal care follow-up is constructed by induction of the truncated PART rule (accuracy of 99.93%) and extracts attributes of interest such as antenatal care attendance, antenatal care location, antenatal care frequency, current vaccination, woman’s age, and HIV testing to predict antenatal care follow-up in the study area.

In order to forecast the run time of the jobs that were submitted, this research provides two linear regression prediction models that include continuous and categorical factors. A continuous predictor is built using the number of CPUs, average CPU speed, and memory size, whereas a categorical predictor is built using the user ID, group ID, and executable ID. According to the findings, the prediction rates for categorical and continuous predictors are 61% and 1%, respectively. sixty times better than the earlier models, which used continuous variables as a foundational model to determine task complexity and weight. The effectiveness of the categorical predictor in enhancing a job scheduling problem is then evaluated by combining it with three suggested job scheduling strategies. The suggested algorithms incorporated metrics—predicted run time, waiting time, and resource requirement—to select the smallest jobs. According to the results, Algorithm 3 performs better than earlier models in both performance metrics. The variation in total execution time and average waiting time is 1.14 to 1.76 and 4.5, respectively compared to previous models, Additionally, Algorithms 1 and 2 demonstrating superior performance in every scenario.

Structure learning of Bayesian networks using sparrow optimization algorithm

Bayesian networks are powerful analytical models in machine learning, used to represent probabilistic relationships among variables and create learning structures. These networks are made up of parameters that show conditional probabilities and a structure that shows how random variables interact with each other. The structure is shown by a directed acyclic graph. Despite the NP-hard nature of learning Bayesian network structures, there has been significant progress in improving the accuracy of approximation solutions. The main focus is on score-based search strategies, which make use of functions to evaluate network models and identify structures with high scores. This study is significantly focused on structure learning Bayesian networks using the Bayesian Dirichlet equivalent uniform scoring function and metaheuristic search strategies. To this end, this paper presents the sparrow optimization algorithm (SOA), a new metaheuristic algorithm derived from the foraging behavior of sparrows. SOA performs a concurrent optimization in the solution space by simultaneously performing a local and global search that leads to the discovery of near-optimal structures. The results from our experiments on several benchmark datasets show that SOA yields overall better performance than SA and greedy search algorithms. In particular, it is claimed that by applying the proposed approach of SOA, the convergence speed is significantly higher compared with the existing ones;F1 score is 0.35 and 0.05 for the Hamming distance with better results. Given these results, signed operators prove to be very efficient in SOA’s Bayesian network structure learning as a concept, especially for real-world use. © (2024), (Society of Sytematic Innovation). Early detection of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is vital for providing appropriate treatment, which requires accurate diagnosis to identify the types of the disease. Therefore, this study focuses on evaluating the performance of deep learning models in classifying different types of leukemia using three pre-trained CNN models: MobileNet V2, DenseNet201, and EfficientNet, to extract deep features. These features are then combined into a single set. An information exchange technique was used to select the best features after merging, and SMOTEENN was employed to address feature imbalance. The results showed that combining features extracted by the pre-trained CNN models achieved high accuracy and reliability, reaching 99.66%, enhancing the performance in accurately and quickly classifying patients. This approach not only improves diagnostic accuracy but also contributes to accelerating the decision-making process for treatment, enabling doctors to better tailor therapies and thereby improve patient outcomes. The findings underscore the importance of ongoing research in this field and provide future recommendations for enhancing performance and increasing classification accuracy in similar medical applications.

This paper investigated the predictive capabilities of three decision tree models for IoT botnet attack prediction using packet information while minimizing the number of predictors. The study employed three decision tree models (C5, CHAID, and Random Forest) and two additional models (Logistic Regression and Bayesian Network) for comparison purposes. The IoT botnet attack dataset comprised various devices, mainly two types of attacks (Gafgyt and Mirai) and 23 feature engineering variables. Simulation results from all models showed that Accuracy, Precision, Recall, and False Omission Rate (FOR) values are approximately one, with an F1 score of around 0.5. CHAID and C5 models outperform other models in predicting IoT botnet attacks, as they are developed using only four and two variables, respectively. These results demonstrated that decision tree models with fewer variables can perform better than models that utilize all predictors.

This paper prescribes the design requirements for a mobile-enabled e-health system for the self-management of diabetes by Saudi diabetes patients. The findings from a survey and a focus group were integrated to achieve this. The requirements, challenges and problems were identified and were supported by published works on the topic. The findings showed that since a variety of stakeholders are involved in such an ecosystem, it is imperative to ensure smooth coordination and an improvement in the outreach of public health campaigns. The findings thus far have highlighted the demographic groups to be targeted for designing and implementing targeted interventions to tackle diabetes in Saudi Arabia. Doing this would require interventions in the healthcare system, hospital and home-based management, and targeted patient interventions. The finer aspects of the system design need to be determined based on similar successful models and expert opinions. Some comments on the boundaries of this research are also provided. © ISECON 2022.
