Disinformation,often known as fake news,is a major issue that has received a lot of attention *** researchers have proposed effective means of detecting and addressing *** machine and deep learning based methodologies for classification/detection of fake news are content-based,network(propagation)based,or multimodal methods that combine both textual and visual *** introduce here a framework,called FNACSPM,based on sequential pattern mining(SPM),for fake news analysis and *** this framework,six publicly available datasets,containing a diverse range of fake and real news,and their combination,are first transformed into a proper ***,algorithms for SPM are applied to the transformed datasets to extract frequent patterns(and rules)of words,phrases,or linguistic *** obtained patterns capture distinctive characteristics associated with fake or real news content,providing valuable insights into the underlying structures and commonalities of ***,the discovered frequent patterns are used as features for fake news *** framework is evaluated with eight classifiers,and their performance is assessed with various *** experiments were performed and obtained results show that FNACSPM outperformed other state-of-the-art approaches for fake news classification,and that it expedites the classification task with high accuracy.

High-dimensional and incomplete(HDI) matrices are primarily generated in all kinds of big-data-related practical applications. A latent factor analysis(LFA) model is capable of conducting efficient representation learning to an HDI matrix,whose hyper-parameter adaptation can be implemented through a particle swarm optimizer(PSO) to meet scalable ***, conventional PSO is limited by its premature issues,which leads to the accuracy loss of a resultant LFA model. To address this thorny issue, this study merges the information of each particle's state migration into its evolution process following the principle of a generalized momentum method for improving its search ability, thereby building a state-migration particle swarm optimizer(SPSO), whose theoretical convergence is rigorously proved in this study. It is then incorporated into an LFA model for implementing efficient hyper-parameter adaptation without accuracy loss. Experiments on six HDI matrices indicate that an SPSO-incorporated LFA model outperforms state-of-the-art LFA models in terms of prediction accuracy for missing data of an HDI matrix with competitive computational ***, SPSO's use ensures efficient and reliable hyper-parameter adaptation in an LFA model, thus ensuring practicality and accurate representation learning for HDI matrices.

Extended reality is proposed as a means to deliver qualitative material to students in higher education institutions. The usage of this technology has increased due to Covid-19 lock down. This paper aims to categorize the challenges encountered by literature that deployed extended reality (XR) in higher education during and after the lockdown. However, the number of available articles addressing these challenges is limited, with a total number of 40 articles obtained from dimensions’ dataset. In this study, bibliometric analysis is used to highlight the number of publications, citations, and authors in this field. Thematic analysis with inductive reasoning is applied to extract the primary challenge themes mentioned in 23 articles. After reviewing the eligible articles;we categorized the challenges into three main themes: Teacher, Student, and technology. © 2023 by the authors of this article. Published under CC-BY.

Publication performance and trends in virtual reality research in education fields: a bibliometric analysis

Virtual Reality (VR) technology has the potential to enhance education by providing immersive and engaging learning experiences that can improve teaching and learning outcomes. While there is a growing interest in utilizing VR in education settings, further research is needed to understand its pedagogical effectiveness and address associated considerations and challenges. This bibliometric study comprehensively analyzes 1,157 relevant articles from the Social science Citation Index (SSCI) and the science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EPANDED) to gain insights into the current state of VR integration in education. The analysis revealed variation in VR adoption and research output across countries and institutions, underscoring the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in the field. Key research areas and trends, such as the use of VR for skill development and training, were identified. Additionally, the study highlighted the need for more research on the pedagogical effectiveness of VR. The findings carry practical implications for guiding future research shaping policy decisions and advocating for a concerted effort to harness VR’s capabilities in education. This study serves as a practical roadmap, promoting the implementation and improvement of VR technology and fostering equitable and inclusive educational practices. © The Author(s) 2024.

Karnauph classifier for predicting breast cancer based on morphological features

Breast cancer is the primary cause of mortality in women in the world, using artificial intelligence in predicting, detecting and early diagnosing of breast cancer can reduce the mortality rate. In this study, we propose a new approach to find the best morphological features that give the best prediction accuracy about the type of cancer benign or malignant. Our proposed algorithm Karnauph algorithm is a hybrid mathematical model that combines between features from the supervised learning and some other features from the unsupervised learning to obtain an easy and robust algorithm in term of prediction and computation. We apply our proposed algorithm on breast cancer dataset and we compare its performance in term of prediction accuracy with that of Naive Bayes, decision tree and Adaboost algorithms. The results show that our algorithm performance is similar to all of these algorithms when they are implemented on the same dataset and it gives better performance than other algorithms when evaluated on unseen data. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management.

Vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) network is a new paradigm of wireless system with special topology where roadside units (RSUs) are linearly deployed along the roadside and vehicles linearly move on the road. For such system, some classical problems would have new formulations and solutions. We in this paper investigate the joint power control and user scheduling problem for a multi-cell downlink V2I network, the objective of which is to maximize the sum-rate of the network under the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) constraint of each V2I link. Considering the high mobility of vehicles, the objective function is set as the mean of the sum-rate over a sequence of time slots. For ease of handling, we first decouple the problem into multiple separate subproblems based on the linear distribution of RSUs. Then we employ the quadratic transform technique for fractional programming (FP) to transform the mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) subproblems into convex problems, and obtain the solutions with Branch and Bound method. Finally the validity of our proposed algorithm is verified by numerical simulations. © 2024 IEEE.

Over the past few years, blockchain technology has gained significant attention. This surge in popularity can be attributed to the emergence of cryptocurrencies and the development of smart contracts. Cryptocurrency is a digital currency that eliminates the problem of double spending. Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Stellar, Zcash, Maker, Aave, etc. become popular and are preferred for money transfers. Smart contracts are the next popular technology on the blockchain after cryptocurrency. It can be considered a piece of code that can execute automatically when the predefined conditions are fulfilled. Researchers believe that the potential of blockchain with smart contracts is only in its initial stages and that its true potential has yet to be fully discovered. Hence, an extensive bibliometric analysis is conducted to understand blockchain trends for smart contracts and to give future directions in this field. For this analysis, various steps are followed, starting with formulating the research question, defining the scope of our research, extracting and analyzing data, answering the research question, and finally, drawing a conclusion. Data clustering is an essential technique for analyzing complex datasets and continues to be a central research topic in data *** clustering algorithms,such as K-means,are widely used due to their simplicity and *** paper proposes a novel Spiral Mechanism-Optimized Phasmatodea Population Evolution Algorithm(SPPE)to improve clustering *** SPPE algorithm introduces several enhancements to the standard Phasmatodea Population Evolution(PPE)***,a Variable Neighborhood Search(VNS)factor is incorporated to strengthen the local search capability and foster population ***,a position update model,incorporating a spiral mechanism,is designed to improve the algorithm’s global exploration and convergence ***,a dynamic balancing factor,guided by fitness values,adjusts the search process to balance exploration and exploitation *** performance of SPPE is first validated on CEC2013 benchmark functions,where it demonstrates excellent convergence speed and superior optimization results compared to several state-of-the-art metaheuristic *** further verify its practical applicability,SPPE is combined with the K-means algorithm for data clustering and tested on seven *** results show that SPPE-K-means improves clustering accuracy,reduces dependency on initialization,and outperforms other clustering *** study highlights SPPE’s robustness and efficiency in solving both optimization and clustering challenges,making it a promising tool for complex data analysis tasks.

A Computational Model for Driver Risk Evaluation and Crash Prediction Using Contextual Data from On-board Telematics

Introduction: Vehicle crashes can be hazardous to public safety and may cause infrastructure damage. Risky driving significantly raises the possibility of the occurrence of a vehicle crash. As per statistics by the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 1.35 million people are involved in road traffic crashes resulting in loss of life or physical disability. WHO attributes events like over-speeding, drunken driving, distracted driving, dilapidated road infrastructure and unsafe practices such as non-use of helmets and seatbelts to road traffic accidents. As these driving events negatively affect driving quality and enhance the risk of a vehicle crash, they are termed as negative driving attributes. Methods: A multi-level hierarchical fuzzy rules-based computational model has been designed to capture risky driving by a driver as a driving risk index. Data from the onboard telematics device and vehicle controller area network is used for capturing the required information in a naturalistic way during actual driving conditions. Fuzzy rules-based aggregation and inference mechanisms have been designed to alert about the possibility of a crash due to the onset of risky driving. Results: On-board telematics data of 3213 sub-trips of 19 drivers has been utilized to learn long term risky driving attributes. Furthermore, the current trip assessment of these drivers demonstrates the efficacy of the proposed model in correctly modeling the driving risk index of all of them, including 7 drivers who were involved in a crash after the monitored trip. Conclusion: In this work, risky driving behavior has been associated not just with rash driving but also other contextual data like driver’s long-term risk aptitude and environmental context such as type of roads, traffic volume and weather conditions. Trip-wise risky driving behavior of six out of seven drivers, who had met with a crash during that trip, was correctly predicted during evaluation. Similarly, for the other 12

Kidney disease (KD) is a gradually increasing global health concern. It is a chronic illness linked to higher rates of morbidity and mortality, a higher risk of cardiovascular disease and numerous other illnesses, and expensive medical expenses. The machine learning (ML) models are applied for KD prediction with higher accuracy and precision. The KD dataset has uncertainty and vague information, so, we used the neutrosophic set (NS) to deal with vague and uncertainty information in the KD dataset. The KD dataset is converted into the N-KD dataset with three membership functions: truth, indeterminacy, and falsity. Three ML models are used in this study such as logistic regression (LR), support vector machine (SVM), and k-nearest neighbor (KNN). These ML models are applied to the N-KD dataset. The results show the LR has higher accuracy and precision on the N-KD dataset than the original KD dataset. © 2025, University of New Mexico. All rights reserved.
