Mobile learning (M- learning) which is now very popular with the high rate of access to smart devices among the Arab students is extended form of Electronic learning (E-learning). Mobile and wireless learning enable instructors to develop new type of contents and allow students to have multi channel access to these contents. Institutions are now exploring the way to push the content to smart, mobile handheld devices which are getting common among the university and college students. This study examines the college students' perceptions and readiness for E/M-learning at Colleges of public university and private university in Saudi Arabia. This research measure and compare the preparedness and readiness level of the students and lecturers for the introduction of E/M-learning at the Colleges of Saudi Arabia. Structured questionnaire were used to get response from 116 subjects of both students and lecturer. Initial findings revealed that M/E-learning training and E/M-learning confidence were statistically significant predictors of both e-learning adoption and e-learning readiness. The results showed two strong factors influences 1) Support from the management and 2) E/Mlearning training on both E/M-learning adoption and E-learning readiness. Results show that the students and academics are ready to implement M/E-learning. Private sectors students and intuition have high score of readiness. Also this research is based on basic hypothesis that students are more efficient as compare to staff with M/E learning because of their adoption to smart devices and collaboration among themselves using ICT. © 2011 IADIS.

Analyzing the Cognitive Level of Classroom Questions Using Machine Learning Techniques

Questioning is widely acknowledged as an effective instructional strategy used by teachers in their interaction with students for variety of purposes. In educational practices, the analysis of classroom questions asked by teachers is of particular benefits. This paper investigates the effectiveness of machine learning techniques on analyzing teacher's classroom questions by automatically classifying them into different cognitive levels identified in Bloom's taxonomy. More specifically, this paper reports on three of the most effective machine learning techniques for text classification: k-Nearest Neighbors, Naïve Bayes, and Support Vector Machine using term frequency as a term selection approach. In doing so, a dataset of questions has been collected and classified manually into Bloom's cognitive levels. Preprocessing steps have been applied to convert questions into a representation suitable for machine learning techniques. Using this dataset, the performance of the three machine learning techniques has been evaluated. The results show a comparable performance of k-Nearest Neighbor and Naïve Bayes and a superior performance of Support Vector Machine in term of F1 and accuracy. Moreover the results also indicate that machine learning techniques show different levels of sensitivity to the number of terms used for question representation.

In this study, a tubular solar air heater with swirl-flow and find absorber supported by radial and longitudinal fins (SAH) was used to improve thermohydraulic performance. The suggested SAH has been compared to the plain duct SAH without fins at a typical air flow rate of 0.01–0.050 kg/s. The results of this study show that radial fins improve SAH performance characteristics when compared to a plain heater or a heater with longitudinal fins. Furthermore, increasing the number of radial fins and airflow rate improves SAH performance. SAH with five radial fins and an airflow rate of 0.050 kg/s achieves maximum thermal and thermohydraulic performance. The experimental analysis showed that the pressure loss in the proposed SAH with swirl tubes increases by 2.64 % and 16.44 % for AMFR 0.010 kg/s and 0.030 kg/s, respectively. Additionally, radial fins record the highest-pressure loss values, with an increase in pressure loss of almost 11.97 % with maximum average temperature difference about 9.75 °C. Also, this study also demonstrates the effectiveness of various Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks (KAN) models combined with optimization algorithms in predicting the outlet temperature and pressure loss of the investigated heater. The analysis, based on experimental field data, uses five optimization techniques: KAN-CGO (Chaos Game Optimization), KAN-LASHDE (Lagrangian Adaptive Sheepdog Differential Evolution), KAN-AOA (Arithmetic Optimization Algorithm), KAN-HHO (Harris Hawks Optimizer), and KAN-WO (Walrus Optimizer). The KAN-WO model achieved an RMSE of 0.7557, demonstrating that its predictions closely match the experimental data. So, the KAN-WO model emerges as the most reliable for predicting outlet temperature and pressure loss, due to its superior performance, consistency, stability, and ability to generalize.

Recurrent neural networks (RNN) are highly effective in solving the inverse problem of time-dependent matrices. However, in real-world engineering applications, noise interference is inevitable. The zeroing neural network (ZNN) is a special class of RNN that exhibit strong noise tolerance in solving the time-dependent Sylvester equation (TDSE). Despite the usefulness of the previously proposed original ZNN (OZNN) model and integral enhanced ZNN (IEZNN) model, they lack the ability to suppress linear and quadratic noise when solving the Sylvester equation. In this paper, a complex double integration enhanced ZNN (CDIEZNN) model is introduced for the first time to address the problem of TDSE. The theoretical basis for the convergence and robustness of the double integral model is described in detail. Two experiments are conducted to verify the convergence and robustness of the CDIEZNN model, and the digital simulation results demonstrate that in solving the TDSE, the residual error of the CDIEZNN model rapidly and stably converges to 3.82 × 10-6in a linear noise environment, and even in complex quadratic noise environments, the residual error can still converge to 1.99 × 10-2• In contrast, the OZNN and IEZNN models have weak suppression of linear noise and the residual errors cannot converge in a quadratic noise environment and the results show divergence. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a blockchain-based data sharing mechanism for Vehicular Network. We introduce edge service providers placed near to ordinary vehicle nodes to fulfill their requests. Smart vehicles generate a huge amount of data which is stored in the Interplanetary File System (IPFS). IPFS is a distributed file storage system that overcomes the limitations of centralized architecture. Monetary incentive is given to edge vehicle nodes for providing services to ordinary nodes. Ordinary nodes give reviews against services provided by the edge nodes that are stored in a blockchain. A smart contract is used to automate system processes without third party involvement and checking reviews of the edge node. To optimize gas consumption, we used Proof of Authority (PoA) as a consensus mechanism for transaction validation. PoA enhances overall system performance and optimized gas consumption. The caching server is introduced to store frequently used services in memory and provided to ordinary vehicles upon request. Moreover, we have used symmetric key cryptographic mechanism which ensures data security and privacy. A trust management system is proposed, which ensures the reputation of nodes. The trust value is stored in a blockchain, which determines the authenticity of nodes involved in a network. From simulation results, it is shown that our proposed system is efficient for the vehicular network. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Creation of scent suited to each user will contribute for more efficient aromatherapy and use of scent in daily life. We have already proposed Interactive Differential Evolution (IDE) that creates user scent and have demonstrated the evolution of scent. In the proposed method, simple paired comparison between two scents was corresponded to comparison between target and trial vectors in general Differential Evolution (DE). However, detail observation of DE's vector in the proposed method was not performed. This study investigated change and convergence of DE vectors in the proposed method. The investigation will contribute to develop more effective algorithm of IDE. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper presents an example of designing a computer network for a business building. When creating the project documentation, care was taken to ensure that it complies with current standards and the Rulebook on technical conditions for the electronic communication network of commercial and residential buildings. The technical description explains what structured cabling is, describes the importance of following its rules and standards, and defines the ways of marking all the equipment used in the creation of this computer network. Furthermore, an overview of all equipment with its characteristics is presented in detail. The logical scheme defines the so-called vertical network, i.e., the backbone, that is, it shows how each individual part of the active equipment inside the building is connected, how the communication cabinets are connected between the floors, and how the network switches and routers inside the communication cabinets are connected to each other. For each socket and cable, a unique label is defined, this creates a horizontal office network. This is the main part of structured cabling, where the precise definition of each individual part of the computer network provides the basis for safe and stable network operation, the possibility of easy upgrades in the future, and the elimination of possible difficulties that may arise. Application of the quality of service (QoS) on the network will be considered is the and recommendations given to avoid undesirable congestion during the flow of data by properly planning the QoS rules, such as packet marking and traffic shaping. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Mining medical datasets is a challenging problem before data mining researchers as these datasets have several hidden challenges compared to conventional datasets. Starting from the collection of samples through field experiments and clinical trials to performing classification, there are numerous challenges at every stage in the mining process. The preprocessing phase in the mining process itself is a challenging issue when, we work on medical datasets. The main contribution of this research includes the detailed survey carried out and brings out the discussion that is not initiated in research papers published in the fields of medical and health informatics. We made a sincere effort towards making this possible and aim to bring out the various research issues associated with the disease prediction from the perspective of data mining. We also discuss the nature of medical disease datasets before switching our attention towards prediction or classification. © 2015 ACM.

With the rapid development of communication technology, the scale of user data grows exponentially. In the diversified service scenarios, the data processing speed is required more strictly in order to guarantee the service quality. Mobile edge computing technology makes the server closer to the terminal and assists the terminal to process data nearby, bringing better user experience. In mobile edge computing system, most terminal devices have strong mobility, and it is easy to cause service interruption because terminal devices are out of the service scope of the server after a few moments. In addition, the importance of the offloading task varies from one task to another, so the importance index should also be considered in the offloading request scheduling. This paper mainly studies the request scheduling problem in the field of computational offloading, and divides the problem into two stages: two-dimensional decision making and offloading.
