Environmental Impact of Freight Transport – Freight Footprint as a New Freight Transport Indicator

One of the most pressing questions today is how to prevent or slow down climate change. As a service sector, transport significantly contributes to this and increases greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, creating long-term sustainable social, economic and environmental processes by eliminating current systemic failures can also be a significant challenge for individual nations. One thing is sure: the status quo is not sustainable. Taking all these aspects into account, this paper seeks to answer the question of the extent to which the performance of freight transport in each EU Member State contributes to the change in the ecological footprint and how national characteristics influence this. The research introduces a newly established indicator, the freight transport footprint, which is based on a family of footprint formulas and specifically seeks to answer the extent to which freight transport burdens our environment. © 2024 Budapest University of technology and Economics. In this paper, a brief overview of converter topologies used in stationary battery energy storage systems is given. A simulation model of converter was developed in MATLAB Simulink. A simulation is conducted to provide a preliminary understanding of the converter's bidirectional nature. The results indicate that the state of charge (SOC) increases during battery charging and decreases during discharging. The topology of non-isolated two-stage bidirectional converter is presented for proposed real-world prototype, including the high-level electrical schematic and mechanical layout. An 18-kW prototype converter for stationary battery energy storage systems was developed and presented. The converter housing with all installed ancillary components for proper operation is also described. At the time of writing this paper, the actual converter is still in the development phase. © 2023 IEEE.

Trade and transit have always played an important and prominent role in the life of humanity. Trade was already of great importance in ancient times, and the Industrial Revolution brought about significant changes, with the invention of the steam engine revolutionising transport and allowing goods to be transported not only in response to seasonal needs (e.g. after harvest, harvesting, etc.). The development of waterways and railways, in addition to roads, made it possible to transport goods over long distances more easily and quickly. From this point onwards, goods were constantly moved for trade by the various modes of transport, giving rise to the development of transport as a new service industry. All these processes played an integral role in developing the supply chains and trade routes we know today. In the present research, to map global trade trends and linkages, the trade relations between the European Union, China and the USA were first examined, and then, using correlation analysis and linear regression, the typical economic and trade indicators in the European Union were analysed. © 2024 Budapest University of technology and Economics. Artificial intelligence has involved as main part to construct smart cities and applications for autonomous system. Traffic Sign recognition is one of the important applications that can be used by autonomous cars. Traffic Sign recognition provides the valuable information about road status to drive safety. Although traffic sign cannot be recognized accurately under low-illumination conditions and time of the day. This system proposes enhancement method based on the brightness value of the image to enhance the low-illumination images. The HSV thresholding method is used to identify traffic sing location from the input image and convolution neural network is proposed to recognized the traffic signs. The system produces good results under night time, cloudy, drizzle rain weather. Myanmar Traffic Sign of red, yellow and blue color traffic signs are used in this system. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a large gathering dataset of images extracted from publicly filmed videos by 24 cameras installed on the premises of Masjid Al-Nabvi,Madinah,Saudi *** dataset consists of raw and processed images reflecting a highly challenging and unconstraint *** methodology for building the dataset consists of four core phases;that include acquisition of videos,extraction of frames,localization of face regions,and cropping and resizing of detected face *** raw images in the dataset consist of a total of 4613 frames obtained fromvideo *** processed images in the dataset consist of the face regions of 250 persons extracted from raw data images to ensure the authenticity of the presented *** dataset further consists of 8 images corresponding to each of the 250 subjects(persons)for a total of 2000 *** portrays a highly unconstrained and challenging environment with human faces of varying sizes and pixel quality(resolution).Since the face regions in video sequences are severely degraded due to various unavoidable factors,it can be used as a benchmark to test and evaluate face detection and recognition algorithms for research *** have also gathered and displayed records of the presence of subjects who appear in presented frames;in a temporal *** can also be used as a temporal benchmark for tracking,finding persons,activity monitoring,and crowd counting in large crowd scenarios.

In the cloud environment,the transfer of data from one cloud server to another cloud server is called *** can be delivered in various ways,from one data centre to *** research aims to increase the migration performance of the virtual machine(VM)in the cloud *** allow cloud customers to store essential data and ***,server usage has grown dramatically due to the virtualization of computer systems,resulting in higher data centre power consumption,storage needs,and operating *** VMs on one data centre manage share resources like central processing unit(CPU)cache,network bandwidth,memory,and application ***-cloud,VMmigration addresses the performance degradation due to cloud server configuration,unbalanced traffic load,resource load management,and fault situations during data *** speed is influenced by the size of the VM,the dirty rate of the running application,and the latency ofmigration *** a result,evaluating VM migration performance while considering all of these factors becomes a difficult *** effort of this research is to assess migration problems on *** simulation results in Matlab show that if the VMsize grows,themigration time of VMs and the downtime can be impacted by three orders *** dirty page rate decreases,themigration time and the downtime grow,and the latency time decreases as network bandwidth increases during the migration time and post-migration overhead calculation when the VMtransfer is *** the simulated cases of VMs migration were performed in a fuzzy inference system with performance graphs.

Idecomp: imbalance-aware decomposition for class-decomposed classification using conditional GANs

Medical image classification tasks frequently encounter challenges associated with class imbalance, resulting in biased model training and suboptimal classification performance. To address this issue, the combination of class decomposition and transfer learning has proven to be effective in classifying imbalanced medical imaging datasets. Nevertheless, in order to further augment the performance gains achieved through the utilisation of class decomposition within deep learning frameworks, we propose a novel model coined imbalance-Aware Decomposition for Class-Decomposed Classification (iDeComp) model. By incorporating a conditional Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) model, iDeComp is capable of generating additional samples specifically tailored to underrepresented decomposed subclasses. This paper investigates the application of iDeComp using two different medical imaging datasets. iDeComp selects underrepresented samples from the training set of the sublevel classes within each dataset, which are then employed to train separate conditional Deep Convolutional GAN (DCGAN) models and verification models. The conditional DCGAN model is responsible for generating additional samples, while the verification model critically evaluates the appropriateness of the synthesised images. Subsequently, the resulting augmented samples are utilized to train the classification model. To assess the effectiveness of iDeComp, we employ various evaluation metrics including accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. The results obtained from our experiments clearly indicate that iDeComp outperforms existing approaches in terms of classifying both imbalanced datasets. © The Author(s) 2023.

The Internet of thing devices are interconnected physical objects that collect and share data over the internet. IoT has the potential to revolutionize many industries, including security. Traditional door lock systems have several limitations. They are often inconvenient to use, as they require users to carry keys or enter passcodes. They are also vulnerable to physical attacks, such as lockpicking or drilling. Additionally, traditional door lock systems cannot be controlled remotely, which can be a problem if a user is away from home or needs to grant access to someone else. The proposed IoT-based smart voice and keypad door lock system using Arduino overcomes the limitations of traditional door lock systems by providing a convenient, secure, and flexible way to unlock doors. The system uses three unlocking methods: voice control, fingerprint recognition, and keypad entry. Users can choose the unlocking method that best suits their needs and preferences. Voice control enables hands-free and efficient unlocking, while fingerprint recognition offers reliable and accurate access. Keypad entry provides a balance between accuracy and ease of use. The system successfully integrates these methods, offering a robust and flexible door lock system. The proposed system has the potential to significantly improve security in a variety of settings, including homes, offices, and public spaces. It offers a convenient, secure, and accessible way to unlock doors, meeting the diverse needs of users. © 2023 IEEE.
