Efficient waste management relies on precise waste classification, which facilitates recycling, composting, and appropriate disposal. Conventional waste classification methods often involve manual sorting or simple rule-based systems, which are labor intensive and prone to errors. This study investigates the application of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for automated waste classification using image data. CNNs have shown significant success in various image classification tasks due to their ability to learn hierarchical features directly from pixel values. The methodology outlined covers data collection, preprocessing, model architecture design, and training procedures for the CNN model. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the CNN approach in accurately categorizing various waste types. Additionally, we discuss the practical implications of CNN-based waste classification systems for real-world waste management applications. By leveraging CNNs, waste management processes can be optimized, leading to better resource utilization and environmental sustainability. The authors also highlight potential avenues for future research, including exploring advanced CNN architectures and integrating emerging technologies like Internet of Things (IoT) sensors for improved waste management solutions. Overall, this study emphasizes the potential of CNNs to transform waste classification practices and enhance the efficiency of waste management systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Many BDS is doomed to failure because of the missing knowledge on measuring the performance of BDS. The failure to identify the performance measurement and correct will make the problems worsen. This will complicate the efforts of fixing such problems and more importantly, will affect the quality of knowledge, insights, and results expected by the users in the future. In achieving durable performance, the organization needsto understand the factors that contribute to the performance of the eco-sustainability and green analytics metrics for BDS. Although the existence of its importance and awareness was largely neglected. Therefore, the eco-sustainability and green analytic measurement of the BDS is examined in this research. Measuring the BDS performance has the benefit of identifying problems and launching corrective actions before these problems happen and become worsen. The research will investigate the eco-sustainability and green analytic measures which will be proposed and used to capture performance for each process of BDS. Then, based on such measures and metrics, as well as existing performance concepts, frameworks, and models, a measurement model for BDS will be created. The model will be validated through expert evaluations and confirmatory studies with users and practitioners of BDS users. The research has a greater significance in leveraging existing performance concepts in BDS settings and the research proposes users' participation in the sustainability and continuous performance evaluation of theirBDS. © 2023 IEEE.

Due to a shortage of funding and other market challenges, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) face difficulties in adopting new technologies. Numerous technological obstacles negatively impact the long-term commercial achievement of SMEs. The deployment of Industry 4.0hopes to resolve these technological challenges. A sustainable city is a complex structure where economic, societal, and ecological components interact and compete. There is a scarcity of l methodologies for measuring interactions in this complex structure. Industry 4.0 aims to obtain higher performance effectiveness, profitability, and automation. The main goal is to develop a reliable method of evaluating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) adopting Industry 4.0 technologies, particularly concerning smart city applications. This paper aims to determine the influence of Industry 4.0 in fostering economic efficiency and sustainability amongst these SMEs. The study introduces a multi-criteria decision-making (SC-MCDM) system designed to test an SME’s achievement of their targeted sustainable developmental goals. A technique for computing the interaction between various standards, i.e., (static interactions and dynamical pattern resemblance), as well as the weightage of variables of every indicator generated by the connection, is included within SC-MCDM. Furthermore, applying the suggested technique is validated by assessing the sustainable development goals of twelve Chinese cities within the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) paradigm. From a geographic-temporal viewpoint, spatial variations in city sustainability reveal regional sustainable inequalities. Indicator scores suggest that the most significant factors for most communities are the lack of research spending, falling financing in stationary assets, shortage of financial development, and inadequate shared transit. Hoya represents a significant component of Indonesia’s biodiversity with considerable potential;however, its utilization remains suboptimal. There exists a keen interest among researchers, collectors, and horticultural enthusiasts to delve into this fascinating plant. The wide variety of Hoya species in Indonesia substantially challenges their identification. Consequently, there is a pressing need for a system that facilitates the identification of the Hoya plant and its various species. In this study, we propose developing a knowledge management system (KMS) to identify Hoya and its species. This proposal is anchored in the user-friendly nature of mobile-based applications, which offer accessibility at any time. To ensure the creation of a high-quality application that meets user satisfaction, a User Interface and User Experience (UI/UX) design process is implemented, employing the User Centered Design (UCD) methodology that concentrates on the preferences and requirements of users. Subsequently, the System Usability Scale (SUS) method is adopted to assess the design and verify its alignment with user needs. This research culminates in our developed KMS prototype, namely iHoya, encompassing mockup pages tailored to users’ preferences, requirements, and navigational flows. An evaluation of the prototype design using the SUS method, conducted through a survey of targeted users, categorizes the design as acceptable while indicating the necessity for certain enhancements. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

Bio-inspired algorithms, such as those with regard to collective intelligence and evolutionary algorithms have been increasingly used in social media analytics in recent years. These algorithms have been shown to be effective in many areas, such as sentiment analysis, community identification, and misinformation detection. This paper explains the underlying principles and features of the most recent bio-inspired techniques. The effectiveness of bio-inspired algorithms for the sentiment analysis categorization on Twitter datasets is studied. In this paper, several social media spam detection techniques that are currently in use are tabulated, and detailed study on the use of social media analytics and bio-inspired algorithms to detect misinformation in social media datasets is performed. The findings of the proposed analysis throws light into the efficiency of these algorithms and gaps for more research, which is inevitable to further improve their performance and robustness for misinformation detection. © 2023 IEEE.

Person search aims to locate a query person in a gallery of unconstrained scene images, which has many real-world applications. However, existing methods directly build off of advances in object detection for better performance rather than efficiency. Complex designs in heavy-weight detectors are redundant for person search. Furthermore, challenges in person search force existing methods to employ additional modules, which greatly deteriorates models' efficiency. In this paper, we propose a novel real-time framework for both effective and efficient person search, termed as InvarPS. InvarPS optimizes the over-designed network with invariant feature learning. Specifically, considering the main challenges (i.e., appearance changes, scale variations, and conflicting tasks) in person search, we propose an improved backbone, a Single-Scale Feature Fusion (SSFF) module and a Hierarchical Decoupling Head (HDH) to facilitate the model learning appearance, scale, and task invariant features, respectively. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance with real-time speed (>100 FPS), which is significantly faster than any previous competitive approach. © 2023 IEEE.

The self-attention architecture is also considered to be a significant contribution in sequence processing tasks. It has the ability to highlight the distinctive features of a sequence, has been very successful in natural language processing and speech separation. In addition, the intra- and inter-architecture of the dual-path bi-directional long-short term memory framework has been demonstrated to be very effective for processing extremely long sequences. Based on these properties, we design a core architecture called intra- and inter-self-attention framework. Parallel models is more efficient and stable than a single model. In this research, we propose a parallel intra- and inter-self-attention framework (PI2SA) for the cocktail party effect task. The experimental results demonstrate that our PI2SA is remarkably effective. It outperforms both traditional self-attention models and a basic intra- and inter-architecture. Our PI2SA achieves competitive results with state-of-the-art deep learning models on the cocktail party effect problem. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Intelligent vehicle tracking and detection are crucial tasks in the realm of highway ***,vehicles come in a range of sizes,which is challenging to detect,affecting the traffic monitoring system’s overall *** learning is considered to be an efficient method for object detection in vision-based *** this paper,we proposed a vision-based vehicle detection and tracking system based on a You Look Only Once version 5(YOLOv5)detector combined with a segmentation *** model consists of six *** the first step,all the extracted traffic sequence images are subjected to pre-processing to remove noise and enhance the contrast level of the *** pre-processed images are segmented by labelling each pixel to extract the uniform regions to aid the detection phase.A single-stage detector YOLOv5 is used to detect and locate vehicles in *** detection was exposed to Speeded Up Robust Feature(SURF)feature extraction to track multiple *** on this,a unique number is assigned to each vehicle to easily locate them in the succeeding image frames by extracting them using the feature-matching ***,we implemented a Kalman filter to track multiple *** the end,the vehicle path is estimated by using the centroid points of the rectangular bounding box predicted by the tracking *** experimental results and comparison reveal that our proposed vehicle detection and tracking system outperformed other state-of-the-art *** proposed implemented system provided 94.1%detection precision for Roundabout and 96.1%detection precision for Vehicle Aerial Imaging from Drone(VAID)datasets,respectively.
