Efficient energy management is a cornerstone of advancing cognitive cities,where AI,IoT,and cloud computing seamlessly integrate to meet escalating global energy *** this context,the ability to forecast electricity consumption with precision is vital,particularly in residential settings where usage patterns are highly variable and *** study presents an innovative approach to energy consumption forecasting using a bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)*** a dataset containing over twomillionmultivariate,time-series observations collected froma single household over nearly four years,ourmodel addresses the limitations of traditional time-series forecasting methods,which often struggle with temporal dependencies and non-linear *** bidirectional LSTM architecture processes data in both forward and backward directions,capturing past and future contexts at each time step,whereas existing unidirectional LSTMs consider only a single temporal *** design,combined with dropout regularization,leads to a 20.6%reduction in RMSE and an 18.8%improvement in MAE over conventional unidirectional LSTMs,demonstrating a substantial enhancement in prediction accuracy and *** to existing models—including SVM,Random Forest,MLP,ANN,and CNN—the proposed model achieves the lowest MAE of 0.0831 and RMSE of 0.2213 during testing,significantly outperforming these *** results highlight the model’s superior ability to navigate the complexities of energy usage patterns,reinforcing its potential application in AI-driven IoT and cloud-enabled energy management systems for cognitive *** integrating advanced machine learning techniqueswith IoT and cloud infrastructure,this research contributes to the development of intelligent,sustainable urban environments.

Hybrid-Optimized Model for Deepfake Detection

The advancement of deep learning models has led to the creation of novel techniques for image and video synthesis. One such technique is the deepfake, which swaps faces among persons and then produces hyper-realistic videos of individuals saying or doing things that they never said or done. These deepfake videos pose a serious risk to everyone and countries if they are exploited for extortion, scamming, political disinformation, or identity theft. This work presents a new methodology based on a hybrid-optimized model for detecting deepfake videos. A Mask Region-based Convolutional Neural Network (Mask R-CNN) is employed to detect human faces from video frames. Then, the optimal bounding box representing the face region per frame is selected, which could help to discover many artifacts. An improved Xception-Network is proposed to extract informative and deep hierarchical representations of the produced face frames. The Bayesian optimization (BO) algorithm is employed to search for the optimal hyperparameters' values in the extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) classifier model to properly discriminate the deepfake videos from the genuine ones. The proposed method is trained and validated on two different datasets;CelebDF-FaceForencics++ (c23) and FakeAVCeleb, and tested also on various datasets;CelebDF, DeepfakeTIMIT, and FakeAVCeleb. The experimental study proves the superiority of the proposed method over the state-of-the-art methods. The proposed method yielded %97.88 accuracy and %97.65 AUROC on the trained CelebDF-FaceForencics++ (c23) and tested CelebDF datasets. Additionally, it achieved %98.44 accuracy and %98.44 AUROC on the trained CelebDF-FaceForencics++ (c23) and tested DeepfakeTIMIT datasets. EEG signals for real-time emotion identification are crucial for affective computing and human-computer interaction. The current emotion recognition models, which rely on a small number of emotion classes and stimuli like music and images in controlled lab conditions, have poor ecological validity. Furthermore, identifying relevant EEG signal features is crucial for efficient emotion identification. According to the complexity, non-stationarity, and variation nature of EEG signals, which make it challenging to identify relevant features to categorize and identify emotions, a novel approach for feature extraction and classification concerning EEG signals is suggested based on invariant wavelet scattering transform (WST) and support vector machine algorithm (SVM). The WST is a new time-frequency domain equivalent to a deep convolutional network. It produces scattering feature matrix representations that are stable against time-warping deformations, noise-resistant, and time-shift invariant existing in EEG signals. So, small, difficult-to-measure variations in the amplitude and duration of EEG signals can be captured. As a result, it addresses the limitations of the previous feature extraction approaches, which are unstable and sensitive to time-shift variations. In this paper, the zero, first, and second order features from DEAP datasets are obtained by performing the WST with two deep layers. Then, the PCA method is used for dimensionality reduction. Finally, the extracted features are fed as inputs for different classifiers. In the classification step, the SVM classifier is utilized with different classification algorithms such as k-nearest neighbours (KNN), random forest (RF), and AdaBoost classifier. This research employs a principal component analysis (PCA) approach to reduce the high dimensionality of scattering characteristics and increase the computational efficiency of our classifiers. This study deals with structural coloration caused the optical properties having multiple reflection peaks. Getting the dominant wavelengths and the color coordinates in sRGB color space from the reflection by thin layer interference, we numerically consider the color notation and show the visible color. Moreover, we consider a multilayer model that applies thin layer interference. Intrusion Detection systems (IDS) are essential for safeguarding IoT networks against various attacks. Our previously developed ensemble-based IDS model, which combines stacked Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks with ANOVA feature selection, achieved a remarkable accuracy of 97.46% and an overfitting value of 0.22% in classifying network attacks. However, deploying this powerful model on resource-constrained devices like Raspberry Pi poses challenges due to limited computational resources. In this paper, we tackle these challenges by converting the original model to TensorFlow Lite (TFLite) and applying quantization techniques to optimize the model size for deployment on a Raspberry Pi 3b+. Our approach significantly reduces the model size by 90.9% while maintaining an impressive accuracy of 96.96%, only a 0.5% reduction from the original model. The optimized model demonstrates efficient performance on the Raspberry Pi, with a loading time of 100.2ms and an inference time of 1.2ms. © 2024 IEEE.
