This paper introduces an alternative technique for diagnosing Acute Ischemic Stroke within the IoMT environment. In the proposed approach, the collected data is transmitted to a cloud-based center where the technique utilizes EfficientNet, a deep learning model, designed to extract features from MRI images thereby enhancing the detection of acute ischemic infarctions. The performance of EfficientNet is compared against two other models, CNN and MobileNet, demonstrating its superior efficacy through metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, which stand at 92.31%, 92.28%, 92.33%, and 92.30%, respectively.

Reporting-Guidelines in Medicine play an important role in promoting the quality of reports in health-related research. For instance, a poorly reported research may induce misinterpretation and inappropriate clinical settings. Basically, three major issues regarding Reporting-Guidelines in Medicine has to be addressed: (1) the existence of lots of reporting guidelines covering a broad spectrum of medical research increases the difficulties when reporting a medical research because it may not be clear which guidelines are applicable, or if all related guidelines are considered;(2) most guideline developers have not described how their guidance was developed, consequently tracking guidelines and features for evaluation, or even for correcting, may be not possible;(3) few guideline developers have evaluated the effectiveness of their guidance, then the real value that the guideline brings to reporting the research is not assured. Hence, we propose a solution to these three issues based on the Model-View-Controller Evolutionary Acquisition Interdisciplinary Research Project Management (MVC EA-IRPM) that is simultaneously a strategy and a web system for the development and management of reporting guidelines. © 2017 IEEE.

Inappropriate Benefits and Identification of ChatGPT Misuse in programming Tests: A Controlled Experiment

While ChatGPT may help students to learn to program, it can be misused to do plagiarism, a breach of academic integrity. Students can ask ChatGPT to complete a programming task, generating a solution from other people’s work without proper acknowledgment of the source(s). To help address this new kind of plagiarism, we performed a controlled experiment measuring the inappropriate benefits of using ChatGPT in terms of completion time and programming performance. We also reported how to manually identify programs aided with ChatGPT (via student behavior while using ChatGPT) and student perspective of ChatGPT (via a survey). Seventeen students participated in the experiment. They were asked to complete two programming tests. They were divided into two groups per the test: one group should complete the test without help while the other group should complete it with ChatGPT. Our study shows that students with ChatGPT complete programming tests two times faster than those without ChatGPT, though their programming performance is comparable. The generated code is highly efficient and uses complex data structures like lists and dictionaries. Based on the survey results, ChatGPT is recommended to be used as an assistant to complete programming tasks and other general assignments. ChatGPT will be beneficial as a reference as other search engines do. Logical and critical thinking are needed to validate the result presented by ChatGPT. © 2023, CC BY.

Dynamic programming is a fundamental algorithm that can be found in our daily lives easily. One of the dynamic programming algorithm implementations consists of solving the 0/1 knapsack problem. A 0/1 knapsack problem can be seen from industrial production cost. It is prevalent that a production cost has to be as efficient as possible, but the expectation is to get the proceeds of the products higher. Thus, the dynamic programming algorithm can be implemented to solve the diverse knapsack problem, one of which is the 0/1 knapsack problem, which would be the main focus of this paper. The implementation was implemented using C language. This paper was created as an early implementation algorithm using a Dynamic program algorithm applied to an Automatic Identification System (AIS) dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

Kalimantan’s tropical rainforest is home to indigenous plants of the Dipterocarpaceae family (tribe), which is renowned for having the most endemic species. Dipterocarp is a family of pantropical plants, many of which are used in the wood industry. This study aims to provide information on the potential of Dipterocarp in Kalimantan forests. Education and conservation efforts for Dipterocarp trees, a prominent component of the forest ecosystem, are crucial in light of the significant harm done to Kalimantan’s rainforests. The authors develop the Borneo Smart Forest information system. This system digitally organizes data on the diversity of Dipterocarp in the Kalimantan rainforest based on Web and QR-Code technology. Borneo Smart Forest (BSF) system for monitoring plant inventory and plant markers can be read by smartphones using QR codes. It gives visitors a comprehensive overview of the plants. A QR code is a printed, two-dimensional barcode with limited space for data storage. This technology allows the plant to show earlier administrator-made additions to the inventory information system. The QR code will direct the user to the BSF website, which has data about the plants. The development of this system is one of the efforts to support the achievement of Dipterocarp conservation.

Maternal health is a critical concern, particularly for individuals who are pregnant and will shape the future generations. However, not all expectant mothers receive tailored attention and care for their unique health needs. Consequently, many mothers face high levels of health risks during pregnancy, highlighting the importance of classifying maternal health risks. Classification can help identify influential factors affecting maternal health and predict risk levels for individual mothers. In the field of data mining, various classification methods exist for analyzing complex datasets. This study focuses on two widely used algorithms: decision tree and k-Nearest Neighbor (kNN). By employing these algorithms, we aim to classify a dataset comprising 1,014 records of maternal health risk levels. Through cross-validation and T-tests, we rigorously evaluate the performance of the decision tree and kNN algorithms in this context. Our findings indicate that the kNN algorithm is more suitable for classifying maternal health risks, achieving a significantly higher accuracy of 71.50% compared to the decision tree algorithm's accuracy of 70.71%. This result establishes the superiority of the kNN algorithm in accurately classifying maternal health risks. These findings have implications for developing targeted interventions and tailored healthcare strategies to mitigate identified risks.

In modern era, data has become precious and important, data leak can lead to high damage to business, impact on losing profit. To avoiding those problems, organization need equip with updated security tools to protecting data and network. As computer network growing rapidly, currently security become important to prevent from attack, both from outside and inside the network. In line with that, new vulnerability grown on everyday basis and resulting increment number of intrusion and attack. Unfortunately, each intrusion and attack have a different pattern and unique behavior, continuous development and research on intrusion detection is mandatory. By statistic, in 2017 attack associated with XSS attack is grew 39% compared with 2015.

Deep learning-based real time detection for cardiac objects with fetal ultrasound video

Fetal cardiac anatomical structure interpretation by ultrasound (US) is a key part of prenatal assessment. Unfortunately, the numerous speckles in US video, the small size of fetal cardiac structures, and unfixed fetal positions make manual detection processes difficult. To alleviate such problems, a deep learning model was developed to fully automate the processing of fetal echocardiographs with 2-dimensional cross-sectional images. The weakness of such an approach is that a physician immediately interprets US video with 3-dimensional objects to diagnose patients in clinical practice. To improve fetal cardiac anatomical structure interpretation via US for accurate and real time diagnosis, this paper proposes a real-time fetal cardiac substructure detection using US video with the You Only Look Once (YOLO) framework. In YOLO, an end-to-end neural network makes predictions for cardiac substructure objects, boxes, and class probabilities simultaneously. To achieve reliable performance, 40 fetal echocardiography videos were trained with the new YOLOv7 architecture and fine-tuned to work optimally and run efficiently. We conducted with nine fetal cardiac substructure objects such as the left atrium, right atrium, left ventricle, right ventricle, tricuspid valve, pulmonary valve, mitral valve, aortic valve, and aorta. The results yielded the highest mean average precision of 82.10%, reaching 17 frames per second (FPS) for nine cardiac substructure objects in 0.3 ms. The main finding of our study is that with even a limited number of US videos, YOLOv7 can detect fetal cardiac substructure objects in real-time. Such a network can work efficiently to detect small fetal cardiac objects automatically in a rapid phase with the help of proper fine-tuning. This work mainly assists medical experts in the fetal cardiac anatomy diagnostic process. © 2022 The Authors

Photonic technologies continue to drive the quest for new optical materials with unprecedented responses. A major frontier in this field is the exploration of nonlocal (spatially dispersive) materials, going beyond the local, wavevector-independent assumption traditionally made in optical material modeling. On one end, the growing interest in plasmonic, polaritonic and quantum materials has revealed naturally occurring nonlocalities, emphasizing the need for more accurate models to predict and design their optical responses. This has major implications also for topological, nonreciprocal, and time-varying systems based on these material platforms. Beyond natural materials, artificially structured materials—metamaterials and metasurfaces–can provide even stronger and engineered nonlocal effects, emerging from long-range interactions or multipolar effects. This is a rapidly expanding area in the field of photonic metamaterials, with open frontiers yet to be explored. In the case of metasurfaces, in particular, nonlocality engineering has become a powerful tool for designing strongly wavevector-dependent responses, enabling enhanced wavefront control, spatial compression, multifunctional devices, and wave-based computing. Furthermore, nonlocality and related concepts play a critical role in defining the ultimate limits of what is possible in optics, photonics, and wave physics. This Roadmap aims to survey the most exciting developments in nonlocal photonic materials, highlight new opportunities and open challenges, and chart new pathways that will drive this emerging field forward–toward new scientific discoveries and technological advancements. The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies into modern homes has enhanced safety and comfort, particularly in detecting gas leaks, which pose serious fire hazards. Gas leaks can often be detected by smell, but this method fails when no one is present. Previous research using microcontrollers and sensors to detect gas leaks faced challenges with accuracy due to noise interference. This paper proposes the use of a Kalman filter, developed by Rudolf Emil Kalman in 1960, to improve gas leak detection accuracy by filtering out noise. The system comprises an Arduino Nano, ESP8266 WiFi module, MQ-2 gas sensor, buzzer, and ThingSpeak cloud platform. By applying the Kalman filter, noise and data oscillations are reduced, enhancing detection accuracy. Experimental results show the system effectively detects gas leaks, provides real-time data, and triggers alarms. Future improvements could include additional sensors and features to further increase the system’s reliability and functionality.
