Deep Web databases contain more than 90% of pertinent information of the Web. Despite their importance, users don't profit of this treasury. Many deep web services are offering competitive services in term of prices, quality of service, and facilities. As the number of services is growing rapidly, users have difficulty to ask many web services in the same time. In this paper, we imagine a system where users have the possibility to formulate one query using one query interface and then the system translates query to the rest of query interfaces. However, interfaces are created by designers in order to be interpreted visually by users, machines can not interpret query from a given interface. We propose a new approach which emulates capacity of interpretation of users and extracts query from deep web query interfaces. Our approach has proved good performances on two standard datasets.

It is crucial for educators to understand pitfalls for novice programmers in programming education at computerscience course. By giving well-timed advice to students who fall into a pitfall, educators are able to achieve efficient teaching and keep up their students' motivation. However, so far, it is less well-understood how novice students edit source code and why they fall into a pitfall. In this paper, we analyzed coding patterns of novice students empirically. We collected programming activities by students on exercises of programming course, and then performed qualitative and quantitative analysis. In qualitative analysis, experienced programmers analyzed patterns of the novice programmers manually. In quantitative analysis, we focused on transtions of the edit distance between a source code of each student under development and a correct source code in a programming class. As a result, we confirmed coding patterns of novice programmers in case of falling into pitfalls, and the characteristics of transitions of edit distance metric in the case that novice students had faced difficulty in understanding the exercise.

This paper characterizes distributed XML processing on networking nodes. XML documents are sent from a client node to a server node through relay nodes, which process the documents before arriving at the server. According as the node topology, the XML documents are processed in a pipelining manner or a parallel fashion. We evaluate distributed XML processing with synthetic and realistic XML documents on real and virtual environments. Characterization of well-formedness and grammar validation processing via pipelining and parallel models reveals inherent advantages of the parallel processing model.

In this paper, we report the investigation of monitoring the degradation of transformer oil in power transformer using fiber Bragg grating sensor (FBG). The findings show that aging transformer oil has a higher refractive index (RI) compared to fresh transformer oil. This is detected by a wavelength shift in the FBG sensor's spectral response. The outcome complies with the breakdown voltage test which is the standard test for testing transformer oil ageing. Finally, we show that the sensor is temperature independent.
