Acute intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) entity accounts for 10 to 15% of all strokes and is associated with a higher mortality rate ischemic stroke or subarachnoid hemorrhage. Causes of ICH are divided into primary, and secondary, including vascular malformation and tumorous. Primary ICH accounts for approximately 80% of all ICH cases. Vascular anomalies rank as the second most common cause of spontaneous ICH overall. Furthermore, hemorrhage resulting from brain tumors can occur in up to 10% of all primary or metastatic tumors. Early recognizing of these three causes of bleeding is critical for clinicians in precise diagnosis, effective treatment management, and helps avoid delayed diagnosis. We proposed a radiomics approach for classifying multiple causes of acute ICH as vascular malformation, tumorous, and primary-related hematoma. Non-contrast brain computed tomography with clinical features was used as input. The regions of both hematoma and perihematomal edema were delineated by using manual segmentation approach. Four feature selection methods were adopted. Also, three classification models were investigated in this study. The results showed that using the features selected by F-value applied with SVM classifier outperformed the other models, achieving weighted average accuracy (± SD) of 0.84 (± 0.07). Additionally, the model demonstrated average sensitivity and positive predictive value of 0.84 (± 0.06) and 0.86 (± 0.05), respectively. We also evaluate the overall performance of discriminating each class from the rest using AUC. The result suggested that our proposed model achieved the weighted average AUC of 0.90. Our proposed method highlights the potential in identifying multiple causes of acute and nontraumatic ICH, which has not been previously explored. © 2023 IEEE.

Recently, angle measurements have been performed using a goniometer, but the complex motion of shoulder movement has made these measurements intricate. The angle of rotation of the shoulder is particularly difficult to measure from an upright position because of the complicated base and moving axes. This article presents a real-time shoulder angle measurement system utilizing computer vision and machine learning techniques, specifically designed for the rehabilitation of frozen shoulder and related conditions. The system leverages MediaPipe, an open-source framework, to capture and analyze shoulder movements accurately. With its modular architecture, the system processes video feeds in real time, detecting key body points and calculating shoulder angles, thereby providing immediate feedback to patients and therapists. The study evaluates the system's effectiveness in clinical and home-based environments, highlighting its potential to enhance physiotherapy by enabling precise, data-driven treatment plans. This research study also identifies current research gaps, proposes solutions, and explores future enhancements, including environmental adaptation, mobile integration, and the extension to other joints. This study has attempted to estimate the shoulder joint internal/external rotation angle using the combination of pose estimation artificial intelligence (AI), computer vision, and a machine learning mode. © 2024 IEEE.

Entity alignment(EA) aims to identify equivalent entities in different knowledge graphs or data sources and establish correspondences between them. In recent years, embedding-based methods have made significant progress in the field of entity alignment, yet the shortage of adequate training data (i.e., seed entity pairs) continues to be a primary challenge. Traditional semi-supervised methods typically address this issue by generating potential mappings (i.e., pseudo-mappings) for unlabeled entities. However, these methods often suffer from the influence of erroneous potential mappings or overlook the uncertainty of potential mappings. Therefore, we propose a novel semi-supervised entity alignment method called JTEA. This method combines seed entity pairs with potential mappings through end-to-end joint training, providing strong guidance for model training. In constructing potential mappings, we propose a bidirectional matching strategy (BMS), which generates more detailed potential mappings by jointly adjusting decisions in different directions and uses a joint matching confidence score to characterize its uncertainty. Furthermore, we also introduce a method of matching diversity alignment selection, aiming to screen out more reliable entity alignments to further improve the performance and stability of the model. We conducted a large number of experiments on the benchmark dataset to fully validate the effectiveness of the JTEA method. © 2024 IEEE.

The aim of cross-modal image-text retrieval is to heighten comprehension and to create robust associations between visual and textual content. This process entails a mutual querying and synchronization across various data formats. While conventional techniques have seen enhancements via attention-based approaches, they frequently miss the dynamics between corresponding and non-corresponding entity areas within image-text pairs. These techniques, often fixated on aligning image entities with textual terms, can overlook the congruence of entity characteristics, leading to less accurate localization. This research introduces PNRITR, an innovative strategy for cross-modal retrieval that leverages label learning to discern attributes absent from images, broadening the scope beyond just positive entity areas. American Sign Language (ASL) recognition aims to recognize hand gestures, and it is a crucial solution to communicating between the deaf community and hearing people. However, existing sign language recognition algorithms still have some drawbacks, such as difficulty recognizing hand movements and low recognition accuracy for most sign language recognition. A Modified Convolutional Neural network (MCNN) deep residual 101 classifier-based American Sign Language identification system has been developed to address this problem. There are three main parts presents in the method. The first part is pre-processing the images to remove the noise, enhance the contrast of the picture, adjust the contrast level and smoothen the picture using various filters. The second part is the segmentation, and it’s used to partition the image using a modified canny edge detection method by removing all weak edges present in the image. Finally, classification will be done using the Modified CNN deep residual 101 classifiers. By classifying the image, the American Sign Language is accurately identified. This process is conducted through images. The outcome shows that the suggested approach has a 0.97% accuracy and a 0.05% False Positive Rate. Other CNN architectures such as resNet 50 and resNet 18 reached 0.90% and 0.80% accuracy, respectively, which is lower than our proposed method. In addition, the resNet 101 classifier effectively recognizes the difficult hand gestures through the image data. It obtains high recognition accuracy for 36 signs is 0 to 9 numbers and a to z alphabets from American Sign Language. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Extracting buildings from remote sensing images using deep learning techniques is a widely applied and crucial task. Convolutional Neural networks (CNNs) adopt hierarchical feature representation, showcasing powerful capabilities in extracting local information but facing challenges in capturing global features. Transformers can address this limitation, but they perform poorly in extracting local features and significantly increase memory requirements and computational complexity. To overcome these challenges, we propose a method for building extraction from remote sensing images called LGDB-Net (Local-Global Dual-Branch network), employing a dual-branch approach. Firstly, inspired by Swin Transformer, we designed GB-Former(Global Branch-Former) as the backbone network to model global information. We use a linear multi-head self-attention mechanism to reduce time and memory complexity while maintaining a large global receptive field. Additionally, we replace the traditional multi-layer perceptron with a convolution-enhanced multi-layer perceptron to improve channel feature representation, reduce model parameters, and enhance segmentation performance. Secondly, we use multiple Depth-wise Conv3×3 + LN (Layer Normalization) + GeLU (Gaussian Error Linear Unit) modules as the auxiliary branch for local detailed feature extraction. Finally, we adopt a multi-scale feature fusion strategy to integrate feature information from both branches. We conduct a series of experiments on three datasets: WHU, Massachusetts, and Inria. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method not only effectively improves segmentation accuracy with lower building omission and commission rates but also significantly reduces model parameters and computational complexity. © 2024 IEEE.

Chinese short text similarity computation stands as a pivotal task within natural language processing, garnering significant attention. However, existing models grapple with limitations in handling intricate semantic relationships, such as the challenge of discerning subtle semantic nuances in text, inadequacies in effectively integrating diverse levels of semantic information, and the struggle to capture polysemous meanings accurately. In addressing these issues, this paper introduces an innovative Chinese short text similarity computation model, SMGC-SBERT. This model addresses shortcomings of the existing models by employing a multi-module fusion strategy, thereby enabling a more precise measurement of semantic similarity between texts. Primarily, the model incorporates SAT embedding to acquire phrase-level semantic information and leverages the MS-BERT model to encode text, improving the model's comprehension of textual polysemy and obtaining richer semantic representation. Then, the fusion of module features, including multi-branch convolutional networks and mix pooling, enables the extraction of textual features from varied levels, bolstering the model's representational capacity. Additionally, to further reduce overfitting risks while improving accuracy and other performance, a multi-layer feature adjustment network is utilized for short text similarity calculation. The final resultant experimental findings showcase the superiority of the SMGC-SBERT model over other neural network models, demonstrating significant advancements across both Chinese-SNLI and CCKS2018_Task3 Chinese short text datasets. © 2024 IEEE.

Image-text matching is an important problem at the intersection of computer vision and natural language processing. It aims to establish the semantic link between image and text to achieve high-quality semantic alignment between the two modalities. However, the existing methods have the problem that the meaning expressed in the image or the complex narrative in the text cannot be fully understood due to insufficient feature extraction. Moreover, due to the essential modal differences between images and texts, how to effectively and accurately align the semantic contents in images and texts has become the key of research. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a method based on feature enhancement and relationship interaction. When processing images, the proposed method fuses labeled features, region features and location features to represent images. When processing text, a combination of Bi-GRU and self-attention mechanism is used to represent the text. In order to further align the semantic content in images and texts accurately, this paper improves two relational interaction mechanisms by identifying connection relationships and learning association relationships. Thus, the relation enhanced embedding is obtained. Finally, it calculated the similarity of the enhanced embedding to judge the matching degree of the image and text. Extensive experiments on the public datasets Flickr30K and MSCOCO demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. © 2024 IEEE.
