Chinese short text similarity computation stands as a pivotal task within natural language processing, garnering significant attention. However, existing models grapple with limitations in handling intricate semantic relationships, such as the challenge of discerning subtle semantic nuances in text, inadequacies in effectively integrating diverse levels of semantic information, and the struggle to capture polysemous meanings accurately. In addressing these issues, this paper introduces an innovative Chinese short text similarity computation model, SMGC-SBERT. This model addresses shortcomings of the existing models by employing a multi-module fusion strategy, thereby enabling a more precise measurement of semantic similarity between texts. Primarily, the model incorporates SAT embedding to acquire phrase-level semantic information and leverages the MS-BERT model to encode text, improving the model's comprehension of textual polysemy and obtaining richer semantic representation. Then, the fusion of module features, including multi-branch convolutional networks and mix pooling, enables the extraction of textual features from varied levels, bolstering the model's representational capacity. Additionally, to further reduce overfitting risks while improving accuracy and other performance, a multi-layer feature adjustment network is utilized for short text similarity calculation. The final resultant experimental findings showcase the superiority of the SMGC-SBERT model over other neural network models, demonstrating significant advancements across both Chinese-SNLI and CCKS2018_Task3 Chinese short text datasets. © 2024 IEEE.

Image-text matching is an important problem at the intersection of computer vision and natural language processing. It aims to establish the semantic link between image and text to achieve high-quality semantic alignment between the two modalities. However, the existing methods have the problem that the meaning expressed in the image or the complex narrative in the text cannot be fully understood due to insufficient feature extraction. Moreover, due to the essential modal differences between images and texts, how to effectively and accurately align the semantic contents in images and texts has become the key of research. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a method based on feature enhancement and relationship interaction. When processing images, the proposed method fuses labeled features, region features and location features to represent images. When processing text, a combination of Bi-GRU and self-attention mechanism is used to represent the text. In order to further align the semantic content in images and texts accurately, this paper improves two relational interaction mechanisms by identifying connection relationships and learning association relationships. Thus, the relation enhanced embedding is obtained. Finally, it calculated the similarity of the enhanced embedding to judge the matching degree of the image and text. Extensive experiments on the public datasets Flickr30K and MSCOCO demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. © 2024 IEEE.

American Sign Language (ASL) recognition aims to recognize hand gestures, and it is a crucial solution to communicating between the deaf community and hearing people. However, existing sign language recognition algorithms still have some drawbacks, such as difficulty recognizing hand movements and low recognition accuracy for most sign language recognition. A Modified Convolutional Neural network (MCNN) deep residual 101 classifier-based American Sign Language identification system has been developed to address this problem. There are three main parts presents in the method. The first part is pre-processing the images to remove the noise, enhance the contrast of the picture, adjust the contrast level and smoothen the picture using various filters. The second part is the segmentation, and it’s used to partition the image using a modified canny edge detection method by removing all weak edges present in the image. Finally, classification will be done using the Modified CNN deep residual 101 classifiers. By classifying the image, the American Sign Language is accurately identified. This process is conducted through images. The outcome shows that the suggested approach has a 0.97% accuracy and a 0.05% False Positive Rate. Other CNN architectures such as resNet 50 and resNet 18 reached 0.90% and 0.80% accuracy, respectively, which is lower than our proposed method. In addition, the resNet 101 classifier effectively recognizes the difficult hand gestures through the image data. It obtains high recognition accuracy for 36 signs is 0 to 9 numbers and a to z alphabets from American Sign Language. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Extracting buildings from remote sensing images using deep learning techniques is a widely applied and crucial task. Convolutional Neural networks (CNNs) adopt hierarchical feature representation, showcasing powerful capabilities in extracting local information but facing challenges in capturing global features. Transformers can address this limitation, but they perform poorly in extracting local features and significantly increase memory requirements and computational complexity. To overcome these challenges, we propose a method for building extraction from remote sensing images called LGDB-Net (Local-Global Dual-Branch network), employing a dual-branch approach. Firstly, inspired by Swin Transformer, we designed GB-Former(Global Branch-Former) as the backbone network to model global information. We use a linear multi-head self-attention mechanism to reduce time and memory complexity while maintaining a large global receptive field. Additionally, we replace the traditional multi-layer perceptron with a convolution-enhanced multi-layer perceptron to improve channel feature representation, reduce model parameters, and enhance segmentation performance. Secondly, we use multiple Depth-wise Conv3×3 + LN (Layer Normalization) + GeLU (Gaussian Error Linear Unit) modules as the auxiliary branch for local detailed feature extraction. Finally, we adopt a multi-scale feature fusion strategy to integrate feature information from both branches. We conduct a series of experiments on three datasets: WHU, Massachusetts, and Inria. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method not only effectively improves segmentation accuracy with lower building omission and commission rates but also significantly reduces model parameters and computational complexity. © 2024 IEEE.

Imitation learning has emerged as a promising approach for addressing sequential decision-making problems, with the assumption that expert demonstrations are optimal. However, in real-world scenarios, most demonstrations are often imperfect, leading to challenges in the effectiveness of imitation learning. While existing research has focused on optimizing with imperfect demonstrations, the training typically requires a certain proportion of optimal demonstrations to guarantee performance. To tackle these problems, we propose to purify the potential noises in imperfect demonstrations first, and subsequently conduct imitation learning from these purified demonstrations. Motivated by the success of diffusion model, we introduce a two-step purification via diffusion process. In the first step, we apply a forward diffusion process to smooth potential noises in imperfect demonstrations by introducing additional noise. Subsequently, a reverse generative process is utilized to recover the optimal demonstration from the diffused ones. We provide theoretical evidence supporting our approach, demonstrating that the distance between the purified and optimal demonstration can be bounded. Empirical results on MuJoCo and RoboSuite demonstrate the effectiveness of our method from different aspects. Copyright 2024 by the author(s)

Accurately diagnosing Alzheimer's disease is essential for improving elderly ***,accurate prediction of the mini-mental state examination score also can measure cognition impairment and track the progression of Alzheimer's ***,most of the existing methods perform Alzheimer's disease diagnosis and mini-mental state examination score prediction separately and ignore the relation between these two *** address this challenging problem,we propose a novel multi-task learning method,which uses feature interaction to explore the relationship between Alzheimer's disease diagnosis and minimental state examination score *** our proposed method,features from each task branch are firstly decoupled into candidate and non-candidate parts for ***,we propose feature sharing module to obtain shared features from candidate features and return shared features to task branches,which can promote the learning of each *** validate the effectiveness of our proposed method on multiple *** Alzheimer's disease neuroimaging initiative 1 dataset,the accuracy in diagnosis task and the root mean squared error in prediction task of our proposed method is 87.86%and 2.5,*** results show that our proposed method outperforms most state-of-the-art *** proposed method enables accurate Alzheimer's disease diagnosis and mini-mental state examination score ***,it can be used as a reference for the clinical diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease,and can also help doctors and patients track disease progression in a timely manner.

Deep learning models for NLP tasks are prone to variants of privacy attacks. To prevent privacy leakage, researchers have investigated word-level perturbations, relying on the formal guarantees of differential privacy (DP) in the embedding space. However, many existing approaches either achieve unsatisfactory performance in the high privacy regime when using the Laplacian or Gaussian mechanism, or resort to weaker relaxations of DP that are inferior to the canonical DP in terms of privacy strength. This raises the question of whether a new method for private word embedding can be designed to overcome these limitations. In this paper, we propose a novel private embedding method called the high dimensional truncated Laplacian mechanism. Specifically, we introduce a non-trivial extension of the truncated Laplacian mechanism, which was previously only investigated in one-dimensional space cases. Theoretically, we show that our method has a lower variance compared to the previous private word embedding methods. To further validate its effectiveness, we conduct comprehensive experiments on private embedding and downstream tasks using three datasets. Remarkably, even in the high privacy regime, our approach only incurs a slight decrease in utility compared to the non-private scenario. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Electroencephalography (EEG) is a time-series signal containing semantic information that can be used to determine human brain activities. Artifacts within EEG data can interfere with the intrinsic distribution of this semantic information, so removing artifacts is crucial for improving EEG analysis performance on downstream tasks. In this paper, we redefine the efficacy of the artifact removal model by evaluating the performance of the noisy EEG data in downstream tasks before and after artifact removal. Currently, most artifact removal models fail to ensure semantic consistency, rendering them ineffective. To solve it, we propose an artifact removal model based on the 1-dimensional diffusion model utilizing the U-Net, referred to as Essentia. Moreover, we find that the skip-connection layer in U-Net contains mid-to-high-frequency information that interferes with the semantic representation. We introduce a semantic guidance module (SGM) that leverages contrastive learning to generate semantic distribution weights, boosting semantic representation. We evaluate Essentia on three datasets with six solutions. The accuracy of downstream tasks from the denoised EEG data increased by 4% compared with the DeepSeparetor. Business process anomaly detection enables the prevention of misuse and failures. Existing approaches focus on detecting anomalies in control, temporal, and resource behavior of individual instances, neglecting the communication of multiple instances in choreographies. Consequently, anomaly detection capabilities are limited. This study presents a novel neural network-based approach to detect anomalies in distributed business processes. Unlike existing methods, our solution considers message data exchanged during process transactions. Allowing the generation of detection profiles incorporating the relationship between multiple instances, related services, and exchanged data to detect point and contextual anomalies during process runtime. To validate the proposed solution, it is demonstrated with a prototype implementation and validated with a use case from the ecommerce domain.
