Medical Visual Question Answering (Med-VQA) aims at answering clinical questions related to medical imaging, providing important reference for medical imaging diagnosis. Gastrointestinal visual question answering can deeply understand and analyze gastrointestinal medical images, provides supporting information to answer questions about the diagnostic process, and improves diagnostic accuracy and efficiency. However, most existing Med-VQA can only handle simple and general questions, struggling to tackle visual question answering related to complex diseases. Therefore, this paper proposes a Med-VQA model called CACL, which uses cross-guidance and improved combined loss. The model focuses on gastrointestinal image analysis and achieves efficient and accurate feature extraction for gastrointestinal images. A cross-guided attention module is also designed to enhance the model's reasoning ability when dealing with complex cross-modal tasks. In addition, a multi-task composite loss function is designed to balance the loss of segmentation task and classification task, and improve the overall performance. Experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively improve the accuracy of gastrointestinal visual question answering. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose the speech quality assessment transformer utilizing listener dependent modeling (SQAT-LD) mean opinion score (MOS) prediction system, which was submitted to the 2023 VoiceMOS Challenge. The system is based on a combination of self-supervised learning (SSL) models and listener-dependent modeling. Due to this challenge's emphasis on real-world and challenging zero-shot out-of-domain MOS prediction in three different voice evaluation scenarios, we specifically designed a two-branch module to predict scores and weights for each frame, aiming to achieve better generalization. In the challenge, our system achieved fourth place in Track 1a, second place in Track 1b and first place in Track 2. Additionally, we conducted an ablation study to investigate the effectiveness of our proposed method. © 2023 IEEE.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a common endocrine-metabolic disorder affecting about 10-13% of women during reproductive age worldwide, often leads to irregular menstruation, infertility, obesity, and long-term health risks such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. In this paper, clinical data from PCOS patients and healthy control group were collected from ten hospitals containing 37 key indicators such as age, weight, BMI, menstrual cycle, etc. BP (Back Propagation) Neural Network prediction models were constructed and compared using the collected data and the cross-validation method was used for parameter tuning. It was found that BP Neural Network performed particularly well on the test set, and both demonstrated high prediction accuracy and generalization ability which provided strong evidence for the early identification and early valuable intervention opportunities for PCOS patients. © 2025 IEEE.

The emergence of different computing methods such as cloud-, fog-, and edge-based Internet of Things (IoT) systems has provided the opportunity to develop intelligent systems for disease detection. Compared to other machine learning models, deep learning models have gained more attention from the research community, as they have shown better results with a large volume of data compared to shallow learning. However, no comprehensive survey has been conducted on integrated IoT- and computing-based systems that deploy deep learning for disease detection. This study evaluated different machine learning and deep learning algorithms and their hybrid and optimized algorithms for IoT-based disease detection, using the most recent papers on IoT-based disease detection systems that include computing approaches, such as cloud, edge, and fog. Their analysis focused on an IoT deep learning architecture suitable for disease detection. It also recognizes the different factors that require the attention of researchers to develop better IoT disease detection systems. This study can be helpful to researchers interested in developing better IoT-based disease detection and prediction systems based on deep learning using hybrid algorithms. © 2024 Xi'an Jiaotong University

Massive knowledge graphs (KGs) are increasingly significant in modern information systems. Previous research on knowledge graph completion must gather sufficient training instances for new introduced relations in order to increase the coverage of KGs. This study examines an innovative approach to the scarce labelling problem. The model use text descriptions to learn semantic elements of newly added relations, allowing us to recognise facts even when there are few examples available. To learn relations based on text, we utilised a GAN-BERT model, which is a modified form of BERT. Four distinct datasets are employed for this. Experiments demonstrate that using GAN-BERT decreases the demand for annotated instances and improves performance in various relation prediction tasks. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Pest detection is critical for achieving effective pest control. However, the current deep learning-based pest detection algorithm is unsuitable for deployment on resource-limited edge devices due to its extensive computation and long inference time. Although lightweight models have been widely used for practical detection, their insufficient feature extraction capability leads to a decline in detection accuracy. This paper proposes a fast algorithm for crop pest detection based on lightweight feature extraction and knowledge distillation. Firstly, we introduce partial convolution and propose a lightweight feature extraction module, C3Faster, which reduces the model's computation and speeds up model inference while ensuring effective feature extraction. Secondly, we use knowledge distillation to improve the model's detection accuracy by using teacher networks to assist in training. Finally, we created a dataset, CropPest6, consisting of six crop pest categories and conducted experiments. The experimental results demonstrate that our method reduces the detection time, number of parameters, and computation by 17%, 38%, and 44%, respectively, compared to the baseline model. Furthermore, our method achieves 93.9% Precision, 93.6% Recall, and 97.5% mean Average Precision (mAP), demonstrating its practical suitability for fast crop pest detection. © 2023 IEEE.

The proliferation of privacy-sensitive data has spurred the development of federated learning (FL), which is an important technology for state-of-the-art machine learning and responsible AI. However, most existing FL methods are constrained in their applicability and generalizability due to their narrow focus on specific tasks. This article presents a novel federated multitask learning (FMTL) framework that is capable of acquiring knowledge across multiple tasks. To address the challenges posed by non-IID data and task imbalance in FMTL, this study proposes a federated fusion strategy based on dynamic guided attention (FedDGA), which adaptively fine-tunes local models for multiple tasks with personalized attention. In addition, this article designed dynamic batch weight (DBW) to balance the task losses and improve the convergence speed. Extensive experiments were conducted on various datasets, tasks, and settings, and the proposed method was compared with state-of-the-art methods such as FedAvg, FedProx, and SCAFFOLD. The results show that our method achieves significant performance gains, with up to 11.1% increase in accuracy over the baselines. © 2020 IEEE.

As the field of machine learning continues to advance, the importance of effective exploratory data analysis (EDA) cannot be overstated, especially in the context of classification problems. This research paper introduces an innovative and automated approach to exploratory data analysis using Autoviz, a powerful Python library designed to streamline the visualization process for machine learning datasets. The study aims to demonstrate the efficacy of Autoviz in meaningful insights, facilitating feature understanding, and supporting data preprocessing for classification tasks. Furthermore, the paper discusses how Autoviz assists in feature selection by highlighting the relevance and importance of each feature about the target variable. This feature-centric analysis contributes to optimizing machine learning models by guiding the selection of relevant input features, thereby improving model accuracy and interpretability. Autoviz is a Python library designed to automate the exploratory data analysis (EDA) process for machine learning tasks. It is specifically tailored to generate a variety of visualizations that aid in understanding the structure and characteristics of a dataset. The results indicate that Autoviz significantly reduces the time and effort required for exploratory data analysis while maintaining the quality and depth of insights obtained. The differences between Autoviz and Pycaret is discussed in this paper. It has been observed that AutoViz automates the process of exploring and analyzing data, while PyCaret is designed for the comparison, construction, and tuning of machine learning models. © 2024 IEEE.

Today, with the digital world in its full swing, strong password management is key to protecting sensitive information from both internal and external threats. The current research explores the passwords managing behavior of the IT students at the University of Dunaujvaros. A survey made in May 2024 questioned 68 students, 59 males and 9 females, about behaviors such as using passwords with complexity, not repeating them for multiple accounts or machines, changing them regularly, and which applications they use for password management. The findings have depicted that, as a whole, students appear to be moderately sensitive about the password security instructions. Nonetheless, most continue to indulge in unsafe practices, including easily remembered or weak passwords and infrequent password changes. Furthermore, approximately half of the responders use password management applications, indicating room for significant improvement in the future. The results suggest that intervention and special education measures should be taken to enhance the practice of password security among future IT experts. This research has good potential to contribute toward strategies designed for people behaving safely in password management, and hence promote a secure digital environment. © 2024 IEEE.

Cloud computing enables businesses to improve their market competitiveness, enabling instant and easy access to a pool of virtualized and distributed resources such as virtual machines (VM) and containers for executing their business operations efficiently. Though the cloud enables the deployment and management of business processes (BPs), it is challenging to deal with the enormous fluctuating resource demands and ensure smooth execution of business operations in containerized multi-cloud. Therefore, there is a need to ensure elastic provisioning of resources to tackle the over and under-provisioning problems and satisfy the objectives of cloud providers and end-users considering the quality of service (QoS) and service level agreement (SLA) constraints. In this article, an efficient multi-agent autonomic resource provisioning framework is proposed to ensure the effective execution of BPs in a containerized multi-cloud environment with guaranteed QoS. To improve the performance and ensure elastic resource provisioning, autonomic computing is utilized to monitor the resource usage and predict the future resource demands, then resources are scaled based on demand. Initially, the required resources for executing the incoming workloads are identified by clustering the workloads into CPU and I/O intensive, and the local agent achieves this with the help of an initialization algorithm and K-means clustering. Then, the analysis phase predicts the workload demand using the proposed enhanced deep stacked auto-encoder (EDSAE), further, the containers are scaled based on the prediction outcomes, finally, the multi-objective termite colony optimization (MOTCO) algorithm is used by the global agent to find suitable containers for executing the clustered workloads.
