Human Activity Recognition (HAR) is crucial for the development of intelligent assistive technologies in Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) environments. This paper proposes an innovative method for Multi-View Human Activity Recognition (MV-HAR) using lightweight deep learning models, specifically MobileNet and Cyclone-CNN (CCNet), to achieve quick and precise activity detection. Utilizing the Robot House Multi-View Human Activity Recognition (RHM-HAR) dataset, which contains four different views-front, back, ceiling (omni), and mobile robot-our models effectively address challenges related to viewpoint variation and motion dynamics. The dataset includes 14 multi-view daily living action classes, providing a balanced set of synchronized human actions suitable for multi-domain neural network learning. MobileNet and CCNet are employed for their high recognition accuracy, computational efficiency, and real-time application capabilities in AAL scenarios. We propose a Mutual Information (MI)-based method to assess the redundancy and relevance of each viewpoint, ensuring the fusion of multi-view data with minimum redundancy and maximum relevance. Benchmarking results demonstrate that multi-view combinations significantly enhance recognition performance compared to single-view models, particularly in complex activities involving high levels of movement. © 2024 IEEE.

Swallowing is a pivotal physiological function for human sustenance and hydration. Dysfunctions, termed dysphagia, necessitate prompt and precise diagnosis. Videofluoroscopic swallowing studies (VFSS) remain the gold standard for swallowing assessment but pose accessibility and radiation exposure concerns. High-resolution cervical auscultation (HRCA) presents a non-invasive alternative with comparable accuracy. Yet, existing studies have only assessed HRCA in tandem with VFSS, without applying it to clinical settings. We propose an AI-enhanced PC software deploying HRCA for real-time bedside swallowing screening. This software proficiently detects abnormalities and precisely measures key kinematic events, including upper esophageal sphincter opening and laryngeal vestibule closure duration. The system was evaluated through two studies, encompassing a VFSS comparative analysis and a usability study. Our findings underscored the software's superior operational efficiency and diagnostic accuracy, positioning our HRCA-based system as a refined and pragmatic alternative for dysphagia assessment. © 2024 IEEE.

During the last decade of research, a lot of focus has been placed on the subject of frequent pattern mining (FPM). A profitable data set with a large sum of transactions and only a few items in each transaction has been used to develop numerous FPM algorithms. Because of the rise of bioinformatics, a new sort of data set called a high-dimensional data set has emerged, with fewer transactions but a greater sum of elements in each. The execution time of classical algorithms grows with deal length. High-dimensional data sets can’t be processed by existing algorithms. But when applied to large data sets with a lot of dimensions, mining algorithms generate a huge amount of data, much of which is useless to scientists because of the little and medium-sized patterns they include. As a way to lessen the number of output patterns for mining patterns, colossal pattern mining is discussed. Since small and mid-sized patterns aren’t mined, mining algorithms for enormous patterns run faster. In this work, an extensive study of colossal patterns, existing mining algorithms with its drawback is mentioned. The definitions of FPM, high utility mining and relation of colossal patterns with others are also explained. Design of a Novel 1x4 Two-Dimensional Demultiplexer Based on Multicore Photonic Crystal Fiber

This work suggests a brand-new 1*4 two-dimensional demultiplexer design based on multicore photonic crystal fiber. Numerical models show that the optical signals can be separated in a photonic crystal fiber construction using optical signals with wavelengths of 0.85, 1.1, 1.19, and 1.35 µm injected on the center core and separated into four cores. The innovative design switches different air-hole positions using pure silica layers throughout the length of the fiber to regulate the direction of light transmission between layers. Wavelength demultiplexers are essential parts of optical systemic communications. They serve as a data distributor and can use a single input to produce multiple outputs. The background material is frequently natural silica, and air holes can be found anywhere throughout the length of the fiber as the low-index components. The simulation results showed that after a 6 mm light propagation, the four-channel demux can start to demultiplex. © 2023 Polish Academy of sciences. All rights reserved.

Over the past few years, blockchain technology has gained significant attention. This surge in popularity can be attributed to the emergence of cryptocurrencies and the development of smart contracts. Cryptocurrency is a digital currency that eliminates the problem of double spending. Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Stellar, Zcash, Maker, Aave, etc. become popular and are preferred for money transfers. Smart contracts are the next popular technology on the blockchain after cryptocurrency. It can be considered a piece of code that can execute automatically when the predefined conditions are fulfilled. Researchers believe that the potential of blockchain with smart contracts is only in its initial stages and that its true potential has yet to be fully discovered. Hence, an extensive bibliometric analysis is conducted to understand blockchain trends for smart contracts and to give future directions in this field. For this analysis, various steps are followed, starting with formulating the research question, defining the scope of our research, extracting and analyzing data, answering the research question, and finally, drawing a conclusion. Clausius was the first to coin the term 'entropy' roughly 160 years ago. Since then, many scholars from several scientific fields have continued to enhance, develop, and interpret the data. This study describes the concept of entropy and its applications to information theory, queuing theory, engineering systems, computing, and statistical mechanics. The choice of these applications was subjected to the size limitation of the paper. Having said that, entropy has a great applicability to other scientific disciplines. Even more interesting is the nature of entropy as a measurement of uncertainty, dis-order, or turbulence was the main core of attraction to a considerable number of scholars in all academic areas of research expertise to both employ it and make a significant research advancement. Its goal is to present a coherent picture of how classical entropies might be used in engineering and computer science. It is attempted to create a concise exposition that strikes a balance between conceptual importance and instrumental relevance. A representative list of references closes this review. © 2022 IEEE.

The demands on conventional communication networks are increasing rapidly because of the exponential expansion of connected multimedia *** light of the data-centric aspect of contemporary communication,the information-centric network(ICN)paradigm offers hope for a solution by emphasizing content retrieval by name instead of *** 5G networks are to meet the expected data demand surge from expanded connectivity and Internet of Things(IoT)devices,then effective caching solutions will be required tomaximize network throughput andminimize the use of ***,an ICN-based Cooperative Caching(ICN-CoC)technique has been used to select a cache by considering cache position,content attractiveness,and rate *** findings show that utilizing our suggested approach improves caching regarding the Cache Hit Ratio(CHR)of 84.3%,Average Hop Minimization Ratio(AHMR)of 89.5%,and Mean Access Latency(MAL)of 0.4 *** a framework,it suggests improved caching strategies to handle the difficulty of effectively controlling data consumption in 5G *** improvements aim to make the network run more smoothly by enhancing content delivery,decreasing latency,and relieving *** improving 5G communication systems’capacity tomanage the demands faced by modern data-centric applications,the research ultimately aids in advancement.

Efficient data storage and query processing systems play a vital role in many different research *** technology and distributed ledgers attract massive attention and trigger multiple projects in various ***,blockchain still lacks the features of a Database Management System(DBMS or simply databases),such as high throughput,low latency,and high *** that purpose,there have been many proposed approaches for handling data storage and query processing solutions in the *** paper presents a complete overview of many different DBMS types and how these systems can be used to implement,enhance,and further improve blockchain *** concretely,we give an overview of 10 transactional,an extensive overview of 14 analytical,9 hybrids,i.e.,translytical,and 13 blockchain *** explain how database technology has influenced the development of blockchain technology by unlocking different features,such as Atomicity,Consistency,Isolation,and Durability(ACID),transaction consistency,rich queries,real-time analysis,and low *** a relaxation approach analogous to the one used to prove the Consistency,Availability,Partition tolerance(CAP)-theorem,we postulate a“Decentralization,Consistency,and Scalability(DCS)-satisfiability conjecture”and give concrete strategies for achieving the relaxed DCS *** also provide an overview of the different DBMSs,emphasizing their architecture,storage manager,query processing,and implementation.

Robot assisted knee joint RoM exercise: A PID parallel compensator architecture through impedance estimation

Knee joint rehabilitation exercise refers to a therapeutic procedure of a patient having dysfunctions in certain abilities to move knee joint due to some medical conditions like trauma or paralysis. The exercise is basically a series of repeated assistive physical movements within the range of motion (RoM) of the joint. Reflex action of limbs during RoM exercise causes inappropriate balance of load which may cause secondary injuries, such as damages of muscle or tendon tissues. Establishing correlation between impedance data and limb motions is important to solve this problem. This paper aims to design and modeling of a robotic arm with an original approach in control strategy which is developed based on the correlation in between the joint-impedances and joint-motion characteristics during exercise. The knee joint impedances are estimated based on the internal feedback of the system dynamics, that lead to design the torque compensator to improve the overall control signals in real time. This paper also demonstrates the characteristics of various responses of the system during exercise with human subject. Results have reflected good performances with low position and velocity tracking errors, ±0.02∘ and ***−1 during hold phase;and ±0.14∘ and ***−1 during motion phse. Though, the limitation of the prototype is its current RoM (limited to 0∘–25∘), the system has potential in the application of RoM exercise for paraplegic or monoplegic patients. © 2023

Research on MapReduce Heuristic Multi Table Join Algorithm Based on Binary Optimization and Pancake Parallel Strategy

Background: With the development of technology, the data amount has increased signif-icantly. In data processing, the multi table query is the most frequent operation. Because the join keys cannot correspond one by one, there will be much redundant data transmission, resulting in a waste of network bandwidth. Objective: In order to solve the problems of network overhead and low efficiency, this paper pro-poses a heuristic multi table join optimization method. By sharing information, the unconnected tu-ples are eliminated so as to reduce the amount of data transmitting. This shortens response time and improves execution performance. Methods: Firstly, the join key information of one table is compressed by the algorithm to make the filtered information for sharing. Then, the concurrent execution is controlled according to the pancake parallel strategy. Finally, the selection strategy of multi table join order is proposed. Results/Discussion: The experiments show that the proposed algorithm can filter a large amount of useless data and improve query efficiency. At the same time, the proposed algorithm reduces a lot of network overhead, improves the algorithm performance, and better solves the problem of low efficiency of multi table join. Conclusion: This paper introduces the heuristic strategy to optimize the algorithm, so that it can perform the join tasks in parallel, which further improves the performance of multi table join. The algorithm creatively combines heuristic data filtering, which greatly improves the quality of data processing. The algorithm is worth popularizing and applying. © 2023 Bentham science Publishers.
