Neutrosophic Fuzzy Power Management (NFPM): Tackling Uncertainty in Energy Harvesting for Sensor Networks

This paper presents a novel approach known as Neutrosophic Fuzzy Power Management (NFPM) aimed at addressing the critical challenge of uncertain energy availability in Energy Harvesting Sensor Networks (EHWSNs). The main objective of this research is to enhance the management of energy resources within these networks, which traditional fuzzy logic methods often fail to do, leading to power failures and reduced reliability. NFPM utilizes neutrosophic logic to effectively model uncertainty by representing the degrees of truth, indeterminacy, and falsity of both harvested and residual energy levels. Through a fuzzy inference system, NFPM dynamically allocates energy budgets for each time slot based on these neutrosophic sets, resulting in more adaptive and conservative energy distribution. The results are validated through numerical examples and extensive simulations, demonstrating NFPM's superiority over traditional fuzzy logic, with significant improvements such as a 25% reduction in power failures, 95% enhanced network connectivity, a 15% increase in data transmission success rates, and overall improvements in energy efficiency and robustness to fluctuations and noise. This research establishes NFPM as a promising solution to the uncertainties inherent in EHWSNs. Future research directions include exploring the integration of NFPM with machine learning algorithms for predictive energy management, assessing its scalability in larger networks, and examining its applicability in other domains requiring energy management under uncertainty. © 2025, University of New Mexico. A Package Level Regression Test Selection Approach for Java Software Systems

Regression testing of software systems is an important and critical activity yet expensive and resource-intensive. An approach to enhance its efficiency is Regression Test Selection (RTS), which selectively re-executes a subset of relevant tests that are impacted by code modifications. Previous studies on static and dynamic RTS for Java software have shown that selecting tests at the class level is more effective than using finer granularities like methods or statements. Nevertheless, RTS at the package level, which is a coarser granularity than class level, has not been thoroughly investigated or evaluated for Java projects. To address this gap, we propose PKRTS, a static package-level RTS approach that utilizes the structural dependencies of the software system under test to construct a package-level dependency graph. PKRTS analyzes dependencies in the graph and identifies relevant tests that can reach modified packages, i.e., packages containing altered classes. In contrast to conventional static RTS techniques, PKRTS implicitly considers dynamic dependencies, such as Java reflection and virtual method calls, among classes belonging to the same package by treating all those classes as a single cohesive node in the dependency graph. We evaluated PKRTS on 885 revisions of 9 open-source Java projects, with its performance compared to Ekstazi, a state-of-the-art dynamic class-level approach, and STARTS, a state-of-the-art static class-level approach. We used Ekstazi as the baseline to measure the safety and precision violations of PKRTS and STARTS. The results indicated that PKRTS outperformed static class-level RTS in terms of safety violation, which measures the extent to which relevant test cases are missed. PKRTS showed an average safety violation of 2.29% compared to 5.94% safety violation of STARTS. Automating skin cancer screening: a deep learning

Skin cancer presents in various forms, including squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), basal cell carcinoma (BCC), and melanoma. Established risk factors include ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure from solar or artificial sources, lighter skin pigmentation, a history of sunburns, and a family history of the disease. Early detection and prompt intervention are crucial for achieving a favorable prognosis. Traditionally, treatment modalities include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Recent advancements in immunotherapy have revolutionized skin cancer diagnosis, but manual identification remains time-consuming. Artificial intelligence (AI) has shown potential in skin cancer classification, leading to automated screening methods. To support dermatologists, we improved the model for classifying images. This model is able to recognize seven different kinds of skin lesions. On the ISIC dataset, an analysis has been done. This study offers a novel approach to early skin cancer diagnosis based on image processing. Our approach leverages the high accuracy of a specific convolutional neural network architecture, utilizing transfer learning with pre-trained data to further enhance detection performance. Our findings demonstrate that the employed ResNet-50 transfer learning model achieves a remarkable accuracy of 97%, while ResNet50 without augmentation gives an accuracy of 81.57% and an F1-score of 75.75%. © The Author(s) 2025.

Predicting circRNA-Disease Associations by Using Multi-Biomolecular Networks Based on Variational Graph Auto-Encoder with Attention Mechanism

CircRNA-disease association(CDA) can provide a new direction for the treatment of diseases. However,traditional biological experiment is time-consuming and expensive, this urges us to propose the reliable computational model to predict the associations between circRNAs and diseases. And there is existing more and more evidence indicates that the combination of multi-biomolecular information can improve the prediction accuracy. We propose a novel computational model for CDA prediction named MBCDA, we collect the multi-biomolecular information including circRNA, disease, miRNA and lncRNA based on 6 databases, and construct three heterogeneous network among them, then the multi-heads graph attention networks are applied to these three networks to extract the features of circRNAs and diseases from different views, the obtained features are put into variational graph auto-encoder(VGAE) network to learn the latent distributions of the nodes, a fully connected neural network is adopted to further process the output of VGAE and uses sigmoid function to obtain the predicted probabilities of circRNA-disease *** a result, MBCDA achieved the values of AUC and AUPR under 5-fold cross-validation of 0.893 and 0.887. MBCDA was applied to the analysis of the top-25 predicted associations between circRNAs and diseases, these experimental results show that our proposed MBCDA is a powerful computational model for CDA prediction.

Efficient Saliency Map Detection for Low-Light Images Based on Image Gradient

Recently, deep learning has been widely employed across various domains. The Convolution Neural Network (CNN), a popular deep learning algorithm, has been successfully utilized in object recognition tasks, such as face recognition, vehicle recognition, and license plate recognition. However, conventional methods for object recognition may not be appropriate for low-light image recognition due to information loss in the dark regions and unexpected noise that can impair object quality. Therefore, the development of specialized techniques for low-light image enhancement has become a major research focus for object detection. This paper proposed a gradient-based saliency map detection method with an improved ResNet architecture that outperforms previous works in detecting multiple or large objects. Additionally, the proposed method enhances images with the object as the center and emphasizes foreground-background differences. Compared with previous works, this paper achieves1.28× improvements in the parameters and 1.32× faster inference speed than the original ResNet architecture. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

Optimized COVID-19 detection using sparse deep learning models from multimodal imaging data

This paper explores the global spread of the COVID-19 virus since 2019, impacting 219 countries worldwide. Despite the absence of a definitive cure, the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) methods for disease diagnosis has demonstrated commendable effectiveness in promptly diagnosing patients and curbing infection transmission. The study introduces a deep learning-based model tailored for COVID-19 detection, leveraging three prevalent medical imaging modalities: computed tomography (CT), chest X-ray (CXR), and Ultrasound. Various deep Transfer Learning Convolutional Neural Network-based (CNN) models have undergone assessment for each imaging modality. For each imaging modality, this study has selected the two most accurate models based on evaluation metrics such as accuracy and loss. Additionally, efforts have been made to prune unnecessary weights from these models to obtain more efficient and sparse models. By fusing these pruned models, enhanced performance has been achieved. The models have undergone rigorous training and testing using publicly available real-world medical datasets, focusing on classifying these datasets into three distinct categories: Normal, COVID-19 Pneumonia, and non-COVID-19 Pneumonia. The primary objective is to develop an optimized and swift model through strategies like Transfer Learning, Ensemble Learning, and reducing network complexity, making it easier for storage and transfer. The results of the trained network on test data exhibit promising outcomes. The accuracy of these models on the CT scan, X-ray, and ultrasound datasets stands at 99.4%, 98.9%, and 99.3%, respectively. Moreover, these models’ sizes have been substantially reduced and optimized by 51.93%, 38.00%, and 69.07%, respectively. VGIS (Virtual Geographic Information System) Platform is a unified oilfield operations management platform based on MaaS (Management as a Service) that integrates advanced technologies such as AIoT (Artificial Intelligence & Internet of Things), GIS (Geographic Information System), Digital Twin, and AR (Augmented Reality)/ VR (Virtual Reality). The VGIS platform connects, collects, integrates, analyses, and acts on disparate data sources to provide the oilfield with a centralized view to help make informed decisions fast, bring operational visibility across all assets to improve safety and operational efficiency, reduce costs and improve margins, provide comprehensive analytics and decision support, increase business agility, and reduce management complexity. This is a case study of the application of the VGIS platform Majnoon oilfield, Basrah, Iraq. VGIS digital transformation, production process, and KPIs (Key performance indicators) are highly managed taking oilfield management to a higher level globally, in this study, the objective is to address and resolve the issue of high costs associated with using cloud services by utilising a local Data Center (a large group of networked computer servers typically used by organizations for the remote storage, processing, or distribution of large amounts of data). This approach involves directly uploading 3D maps to ensure faster service on the intranet, eliminating the need to pay for cloud *** aims providing a platform for researching and implementing monitoring and controlling processes in a more convenient and remote manner.
