Strength parameters of the ABS materials used in 3D printing

There is need to replace the traditional materials used in mechanical constructions with cheaper materials characterized by high durability and simplicity of manufacturing. An alternative technology is 3D printing technology that uses ABS material (poly (acrylonitrile-co-butadiene-co-styrene)). 3D printing technology ensures the rapid change of model dimensions and shapes at the prototyping stage and a relatively cheap cost of new elements. There are many plastic materials producers on the market for a 3D printer. In this paper two of them have been choosen to a comparison and their mechanical parameters have been determined. The modal analysis of this material was carried out and the obtained values of resonance frequencies were compared.

Recent breakthroughs in large language models (LLMs) offer unprecedented natural language understanding and generation capabilities. However, existing surveys on LLMs in biomedicine often focus on specific applications or model architectures, lacking a comprehensive analysis that integrates the latest advancements across various biomedical domains. This review, based on an analysis of 484 publications sourced from databases including PubMed, Web of science, and arXiv, provides an in-depth examination of the current landscape, applications, challenges, and prospects of LLMs in biomedicine, distinguishing itself by focusing on the practical implications of these models in real-world biomedical contexts. Firstly, we explore the capabilities of LLMs in zero-shot learning across a broad spectrum of biomedical tasks, including diagnostic assistance, drug discovery, and personalized medicine, among others, with insights drawn from 137 key studies. Then, we discuss adaptation strategies of LLMs, including fine-tuning methods for both uni-modal and multi-modal LLMs to enhance their performance in specialized biomedical contexts where zero-shot fails to achieve, such as medical question answering and efficient processing of biomedical literature. Finally, we discuss the challenges that LLMs face in the biomedicine domain including data privacy concerns, limited model interpretability, issues with dataset quality, and ethics due to the sensitive nature of biomedical data, the need for highly reliable model outputs, and the ethical implications of deploying AI in healthcare. To address these challenges, we also identify future research directions of LLM in biomedicine including federated learning methods to preserve data privacy and integrating explainable AI methodologies to enhance the transparency of LLMs. As this field of LLM rapidly evolves, continued research and development are essential to fully harness the capabilities of LLMs in biomedicine while ensuring their respon

Research on Main Steam Temperature Prediction Model Based on Improved LSTM Algorithm

In order to improve the reliability and accuracy of the main steam temperature trend prediction, a main steam temperature prediction model based on improved LSTM is proposed. Firstly, uses the grey correlation analysis method to select the important influencing factors. Then, a linear structure is introduced into the LSTM structure to construct a main steam temperature prediction model. Finally, based on the historical operating data of the thermal power unit, a simulation experiment is performed to compare the prediction error of the output of the RNN model, the LSTM model, and the improved LSTM model. The results show that the method has higher prediction accuracy for the main steam temperature. At the same time, compared with other traditional methods, this method has better fitting effect, which can be well applied in practical engineering.

Consciousness has been historically a heavily debated topic in engineering, science, and philosophy. On the contrary, awareness had less success in raising the interest of scholars in the past. However, things are changing as more and more researchers are getting interested in answering questions concerning what awareness is and how it can be artificially generated. The landscape is rapidly evolving, with multiple voices and interpretations of the concept being conceived and techniques being developed. The goal of this paper is to summarize and discuss the ones among these voices that are connected with projects funded by the EIC Pathfinder Challenge called "Awareness Inside", a nonrecurring call for proposals within Horizon Europe that was designed specifically for fostering research on natural and synthetic awareness. In this perspective, we dedicate special attention to challenges and promises of applying synthetic awareness in robotics, as the development of mature techniques in this new field is expected to have a special impact on generating more capable and trustworthy embodied systems. © 2024, CC BY.

A wheelchair is a specialized form of Personal Mobility Vehicle (PMV) designed to help people with disabilities move safely to their desired locations. Unlike conventional PMVs, wheelchairs for people with disabilities are challenging to manually control in environments with heavy traffic. This study focuses on designing and feasibility testing of control systems for PMVs to meet safety and efficiency standards, even in complex environments. First, a control structure model for PMVs is proposed. This is followed by the application of a combination of First In First Out (FIFO) and Dijkstra traffic control methods to determine effective trajectories for PMVs. The proposed control system is then tested on the campus of the University of Transport and Communications. Simulation results show that when comparing the travel time of 10 PMVs, the order execution time for each PMV remains stable (within 10%) for up to 20 PMVs. However, when the number of PMVs increases to 25, 30, 35, and 40 vehicles, the order execution time increases by 35%, 55%, 103%, and 119%, respectively. These results demonstrate that the system can control a large number of PMVs, ensuring safety, flexibility, and efficiency. © 2024 Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Accurately diagnosing sleep disorders is essential for clinical assessments and treatments. Polysomnography (PSG) has long been used for detection of various sleep disorders. In this research, electrocardiography (ECG) and electromayography (EMG) have been used for recognition of breathing and movement-related sleep disorders. Bio-signal processing has been performed by extracting EMG features exploiting entropy and statistical moments, in addition to developing an iterative pulse peak detection algorithm using synchrosqueezed wavelet transform (SSWT) for reliable extraction of heart rate and breathing-related features from ECG. A deep learning framework has been designed to incorporate EMG and ECG features. The framework has been used to classify four groups: healthy subjects, patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), patients with restless leg syndrome (RLS) and patients with both OSA and RLS. The proposed deep learning framework produced a mean accuracy of 72% and weighted F1 score of 0.57 across subjects for our formulated four-class problem. © 2021, CC BY-NC-ND.

The subject of the article is a simulation of heat affected components of a device for deep drawing by extreme conditions in vacuum by high temperatures required for forming of crystallization containers made from thin molybdenum sheets. The simulation is focused on the distribution of heat in particular components in relation with their shape. There are presented the design of working components and the boundary conditions of transient thermal simulations with the results.

Modern manufacturing applications such as Industry 4.0 focus on integrated industrial automation and IoT to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity. To establish and implement this new approach, new technologies like IoT, wireless networking control systems (WNCS), and cloud computing are necessary. This paper explains different techniques adopted in control systems applied via IoT, i.e., SCADA, HIL, and explained the PID Plus filter architecture. The Internet of Things (IoT), which enables independent devices to use the internet for data exchange, is a significant recent interest in the communication between machines. The Internet and the WWW have made people’s connections revolutionized. They came from the need to share science amongst industries. Human communications are similar to IoT subjects such as codes, representations, and tools. Various organizations, including start-ups, are currently testing them. The smart city term is also used to define IoT applications such as intelligent parking, jamming, and waste management. There is already a lot of expertise in control systems for extensive testing facilities for connecting thousands of devices, which more and more have a TCP/IP link. This paper examines the potential integration of IoT and control Systems.

Background: Systems Medicine is a novel approach to medicine, that is, an interdisciplinary field that considers the human body as a system, composed of multiple parts and of complex relationships at multiple levels, and further integrated into an environment. Exploring Systems Medicine implies understanding and combining concepts coming from diametral different fields, including medicine, biology, statistics, modeling and simulation, and data science. Such heterogeneity leads to semantic issues, which may slow down implementation and fruitful interaction between these highly diverse fields. Methods: In this review, we collect and explain more than100 terms related to Systems Medicine. These include both modeling and data science terms and basic systems medicine terms, along with some synthetic definitions, examples of applications, and lists of relevant references. The fuzzy logic theory has been proven to be effective in dealing with various nonlinear systems and has a great success in industry applications. Among different kinds of models for fuzzy systems, the so-called Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model has been quite popular due to its convenient and simple dynamic structure as well as its capability of approximating any smooth nonlinear function to any specified accuracy within any compact set. In terms of such a model, the performance analysis and the design of controllers and filters play important roles in the research of fuzzy systems. In this paper, we aim to survey some recent advances on the T-S fuzzy control and filtering problems with various network-induced phenomena. The network-induced phenomena under consideration mainly include communication delays, packet dropouts, signal quantization, and randomly occurring uncertainties (ROUs). With such network-induced phenomena, the developments on T-S fuzzy control and filtering issues are reviewed in detail. In addition, some latest results on this topic are highlighted.
