Picture array generation using flat splicing operation

The operation of splicing on words was introduced by Tom Head while proposing a theoretical model of DNA recombination. Subsequent investigations on splicing on linear and circular strings of symbols have resulted in a number of theoretical properties. A different kind of splicing on two words, referred to as flat splicing, has been considered recently. This operation is extended to flat splicing on picture arrays, thus defining a new model of generation of digitized pictures, which is called as array flat splicing system (AFS). Results on the generative power of AFS in comparison with certain well-known picture array defining models and certain non-closure results are obtained. Accurate and efficient control of quantum systems is one of the central challenges for quantum information processing. Current state-of-the-art experiments rarely go beyond 10 qubits and in most cases demonstrate only limited control. Here we demonstrate control of a 12-qubit system, and show that the system can be employed as a quantum processor to optimize its own control sequence by using measurement-based feedback control (MQFC). The final product is a control sequence for a complex 12-qubit task: preparation of a 12-coherent state. The control sequence is about 10% more accurate than the one generated by the standard (classical) technique, showing that MQFC can correct for unknown imperfections. Apart from demonstrating a high level of control over a relatively large system, our results show that even at the 12-qubit level, a quantum processor can be a useful lab instrument. As an extension of our work, we propose a method for combining the MQFC technique with a twirling protocol, to optimize the control sequence that produces a desired Clifford gate. The aim of this research is to set up a possible model for describing automotive supply chain networks. The work to be presented analyses the real-world environment and its changes in a broader view. The research provides the extension of the mathematical modeling domain, accordingly. The paper studies the basic relational structure of automotive supply chain, where the methodology is determined by the classical business strategic levels. This is done by combining the theories of network and theories for traffic systems. We uncover the hidden relational parallelism between the automotive supply chain and positive systems, complex networks and find that the industry network shows some similar scale-free structural properties indicating the existence of a typical dependence and dominance structure with complex dynamical behavior.

Array P systems with parallel rewriting and tables of context-free rules

The two areas of picture languages and membrane computing were linked by array-rewriting P system in which array objects and context-free array-rewriting rules are used in order to generate picture languages. While rewriting arrays in the array-rewriting P system is in a sequential manner, parallel array P system (PAP) involves rewriting of arrays in the regions in parallel in order to generate picture languages. A variant of PAP, known as tabled array P system (TPAP), uses sets of context-free array-rewriting rules, called tables of rules. Influence of sampling on the tuning of PID controller parameters

The paper deals with an analysis of automatic control system with continuous and discrete PID controllers. A method of tuning the parameters of the continuous controller is presented, which is optimal according to the ITAE criterion. The behavior of control systems with discrete controllers whose parameters were tuned using the mentioned method are described. The impact of changes in the sampling period of controlled signal on the control quality is shown. Changes of the values of optimal parameters of discrete PID controllers in relation to changes of the sampling rate of controlled signal are characterized.

Forecasting water levels on Mekong river is an important problem needed to be studied for flood warning. In this paper, we investigate the application to forecasting of daily water levels at Thakhek station on Mekong river using machine learning models such as LASSO, Random Forests and Support Vector Regression (SVR). Experimental results showed that SVR was able to achieve feasible results, the mean absolute error of SVR is 0.486(m) while the acceptable error of a flood forecast model required by the Mekong River Commission is between 0.5(m) and 0.75(m).

Japan's Venus Climate Orbiter Akatsuki was proposed to ISAS (Institute of Space and Astronautical science) in 2001 as an interplanetary mission. We made 5 cameras with narrow-band filters to image Venus at different wavelengths to track the cloud and minor components distribution at different heights to study the Venusian atmospheric dynamics in 3 dimension. It was launched on May 21st, 2010 and reached Venus on December 7th, 2010. With the thrust by the orbital maneuver engine, Akatsuki tried to go into the westward equatorial orbit around Venus with the 30 hours' orbital period, however it failed by the malfunction of the propulsion system. Later the spacecraft has been orbiting the sun for 5 years. On December 7th, 2015 Akatsuki met Venus again after the orbit control and Akatsuki was put into the westward equatorial orbit whose apoapsis is about 0.44 million km and orbital period of 14 days. Its main target is to shed light on the mechanism of the fast atmospheric circulation of Venus. The systematic imaging sequence by Akatsuki is advantageous for detecting meteorological phenomena with various temporal and spatial scales. We have five photometric sensors as mission instruments for imaging, which are 1 m-infrared camera (IR1), 2 m-infrared camera (IR2), ultra-violet imager (UVI), long-wave infrared camera (LIR), and lightning and airglow camera (LAC). These photometers except LIR have changeable filters in the optics to image in certain wavelengths. Akatsuki's long elliptical orbit around Venus is suitable for obtaining cloud-tracked wind vectors over a wide area continuously from high altitudes. With the observation, the characterizations of the meridional circulation, mid-latitude jets, and various wave activities are anticipated. Recently, perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) and its voltage control (VC) was demonstrated for Cr/Fe/MgO (Physical Review Applied 5, 044006 (2016)). In this study, we shed a light on the origin of large voltage-induced anisotropy change in Cr/Fe/MgO. Analysis of the chemical structure of Cr/Fe/MgO revealed the existence of Cr atoms in the proximity of the Fe/MgO interface, which can affect both magnetic anisotropy (MA) and its VC. We showed that PMA and its VC can be enhanced by controlled Cr doping at the Fe/MgO interface. For Cr/Fe (5.9 Å)/Cr (0.7 Å)/MgO with an effective PMA of 0.8 MJ/m3, a maximum value of the voltage-controlled magnetic anisotropy (VCMA) effect of 370 fJ/Vm was demonstrated.
