In this paper, we propose a new learning algorithm, named as the Cooperative and Geometric Learning Algorithm (CGLA), to solve problems of maneuverability, collision avoidance and information sharing in path planning for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The contributions of CGLA are three folds: (1) CGLA is designed for path planning based on cooperation of multiple UAVs. Technically, CGLA exploits a new defined individual cost matrix, which leads to an efficient path planning algorithm for multiple UAVs. (2) The convergence of the proposed algorithm for calculating the cost matrix is proven theoretically, and the optimal path in terms of path length and risk measure from a starting point to a target point can be calculated in polynomial time. (3) In CGLA, the proposed individual weight matrix can be efficiently calculated and adaptively updated based on the geometric distance and risk information shared among UAVs. Finally, risk evaluation is introduced first time in this paper for UAV navigation and extensive computer simulation results validate the effectiveness and feasibility of CGLA for safe navigation of multiple UAVs. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd. Device-to-device (D2D) communications allow direct transmissions between two proximate user equipments (UEs) under the control of base stations (BSs), which can improve local services and spectrum efficiency in cellular networks. In this paper, we propose an efficient resource allocation scheme and a low complexity relay selection strategy for D2D communications enabled cellular networks, where a D2D UE can act as a source as well as a potential relay for other UEs. Consider the selection cooperation (SC) rule which restricts relaying for a D2D transmitter to only one relay (i.e., another D2D transmitter) is imposed. First, we formulate the resource allocation problem for the cooperative D2D transmitters as a bargaining game. By solving the Nash bargaining solution (NBS) of the game, proportional fair (PF) rate allocation for the D2D communications can be achieved. Next, to implement the SC rule, a simple heuristic is proposed which is used to maintain the long-term priority fairness of relay selection for each D2D link. The proposed algorithm has a low computational complexity of 0(N~2), where N is the number of cooperative D2D transmitters in a game. Simulation results demonstrate the system efficiency and fairness properties of the proposed scheme.

Analysis of oxygen saturation detection method on intelligent mobile devices

With the fast development of mobile devices and great concern on health surveillance, it is becoming increasingly popular to collect, analyze, and interpret people's health-related data by using intelligent mobile devices in their daily life. Oxygen saturation is an important physiological parameter referring to the concentration of oxygen in the blood, and prolonged low oxygen levels may lead to respiratory or cardiac arrest. Previous oxygen saturation detection methods require infrared light, however most of the off-the-shelf mobile devices lack such infrared light transmitter and receiver modules. This paper presents a novel oxygen saturation estimation method emplying a RGB camera and visible light in most of mobile devices. By applying of traditional optical oxygen saturation estimation model to mobile devices, and analyzing its problem for those devices, this study proposes a new oxygen saturation estimation model on intelligent mobile devices and offers an approach to solve the baseline drift problem in mobile cameras. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and its potentials in many oxygen saturation based researches such as daily-activity based healthcare with mobile devices. © Copyright 2015, Institute of Software, the Chinese Academy of sciences. Multiple neural networks switched prediction for landslide displacement

An accurate prediction of landslide displacement is challenging and of great interest to governments and researchers. In order to reduce the risk of selecting the types of influencing factors and artificial neural networks (ANNs), a multiple ANNs switched prediction method is proposed for landslide displacement forecasting. In the first stage, a set of individual neural networks are developed based on different environmental factors and/or different training algorithms. In the second stage, a switched prediction method is used to select the appropriate individual neural network for prediction purpose. For verification and testing, three typical landslides in Three Gorges Reservoir, namely Baishuihe landslide, Bazimen landslide and Shiliushubao landslide, are presented to test the effectiveness of our method. Application results demonstrate that the proposed method can significantly improve model generalization and perform similarly to, or better than, the best individual ANN predictor. © 2014 Elsevier B.V.

The fuzzy logic theory has been proven to be effective in dealing with various nonlinear systems and has a great success in industry applications. Among different kinds of models for fuzzy systems, the so-called Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model has been quite popular due to its convenient and simple dynamic structure as well as its capability of approximating any smooth nonlinear function to any specified accuracy within any compact set. In terms of such a model, the performance analysis and the design of controllers and filters play important roles in the research of fuzzy systems. In this paper, we aim to survey some recent advances on the T-S fuzzy control and filtering problems with various network-induced phenomena. The network-induced phenomena under consideration mainly include communication delays, packet dropouts, signal quantization, and randomly occurring uncertainties (ROUs). With such network-induced phenomena, the developments on T-S fuzzy control and filtering issues are reviewed in detail. In addition, some latest results on this topic are highlighted. This paper revisits the synchronisation problem for second-order multi-agent systems(MASs)under dynamically changing communication *** employing the reference model-based synchronisation algorithm,it is finally shown that synchronisation for both the position and velocity states can be achieved if the union of the communication topologies has a directed spanning tree frequently *** extends the existing results obtained for second-order MASs which exploits mild communication topology condition guaranteeing the synchronisation to a more general *** analysis is successfully performed by exploiting the product properties of row-stochastic matrices,which can also provide us with an estimate the convergence rate towards the synchronisation.

Nowadays parallel manipulators are used widely in bioengineering applications;this leads to many exciting expectations as well as challenges. The kinematic analysis of parallel manipulators with their differential kinematics yielding the Jacobian in a closed form is not a trivial task. In this paper a parallel manipulator based mobility assistive device called EJADII is analyzed to determine forward kinematics, inverse kinematics and closed-form Jacobian. An Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is trained to estimate the Jacobian. This system would be useful when determination of the Jacobian in a closed-form is difficult to determine. The human motion during sit to stand captured by VICON experiment is used with two assisting scenarios to train and verify this system. computer simulations show relatively good results of the proposed system. © 2014 IEEE.

This is a milestone paper of the Coordinating Committee on Manufacturing and Logistics Systems (CC5) of the International Federation of Automatic control (IFAC). Classical applications of control engineering and information and communication technology (ICT) in production and logistics are often done in a rigid, centralized and hierarchical way. These inflexible approaches are typically not able to cope with the complexities of the manufacturing environment, such as the instabilities, uncertainties and abrupt changes caused by internal and external disturbances, or a large number and variety of interacting, interdependent elements. A paradigm shift, e.g., novel organizing principles and methods, is needed for supporting the interoperability of dynamic alliances of agile and networked systems. Several solution proposals argue that the future of manufacturing and logistics lies in network-like, dynamic, open and reconfigurable systems of cooperative autonomous entities. The paper overviews various distributed approaches and technologies of control engineering and ICT that can support the realization of cooperative structures from the resource level to the level of networked enterprises. Standard results as well as recent advances from control theory, through cooperative game theory, distributed machine learning to holonic systems, cooperative enterprise modelling, system integration, and autonomous logistics processes are surveyed. A special emphasis is put on the theoretical developments and industrial applications of Robustly Feasible Model Predictive control (RFMPC). Two case studies are also discussed: i) a holonic, PROSA-based approach to generate short-term forecasts for an additive manufacturing system by means of a delegate multi-agent system (D-MAS);and ii) an application of distributed RFMPC to a drinking water distribution system. © IFAC.
