Classical applications of control engineering and information and communication technology (ICT) in production and logistics are often done in a rigid, centralized and hierarchical way. These inflexible approaches are typically not able to cope with the complexities of the manufacturing environment, such as the instabilities, uncertainties and abrupt changes caused by internal and external disturbances, or a large number and variety of interacting, interdependent elements. A paradigm shift, e.g., novel organizing principles and methods, is needed for supporting the interoperability of dynamic alliances of agile and networked systems. Several solution proposals argue that the future of manufacturing and logistics lies in network-like, dynamic, open and reconfigurable systems of cooperative autonomous entities. The paper overviews various distributed approaches and technologies of control engineering and ICT that can support the realization of cooperative structures from the resource level to the level of networked enterprises. Standard results as well as recent advances from control theory, through cooperative game theory, distributed machine learning to holonic systems, cooperative enterprise modeling, system integration, and autonomous logistics processes are surveyed. A special emphasis is put on the theoretical developments and industrial applications of Robustly Feasible Model Predictive control (RFMPC). Two case studies are also discussed: (i) a holonic, PROSA-based approach to generate short-term forecasts for an additive manufacturing system by means of a delegate multi-agent system (D-MAS);and (ii) an application of distributed RFMPC to a drinking water distribution system. © 2015 Elsevier Ltd.

The paper covers issue of conducting advanced research of electrical race car participating in international competition called Sileverline Corporate Challenge. Process of designing race cars in Silesian Greenpower team is aided by a professional engine test stand built particularly in purpose of this research. Phase of testing and simulation is an important part of the implementation of new technologies. Properly developed solutions and test procedures are able to significantly shorten development time and reduce design costs. Testing process must be controlled by a modular and flexible application, easy to modify and ensuring safety. This paper describes the concept of object-oriented programming in LabVIEW and exemplary architecture of object-oriented control application designed to control engine test stand of the electrical race car. Eventually, the task of application will be to steer the electromagnetic brake and the engine load torque to perform according to data from the actual race track. During the designing process of the car, minimizing energy losses and maximizing powertrain efficiency are the main aspects taken into consideration. One of the crucial issues to accomplish these goals is to maintain optimal performance of the motor by applying effective cooling. The paper covers the research verifying the effectiveness of the cooling system.

The variability of electromagnetic parameters of induction motors with deep-bar cage or solid rotors is represented, with a satisfactory approximation, by the machine secondary multi-loop equivalent circuit with constant lumped parameters. An estimation procedure of electromagnetic parameters of such an equivalent circuit is presented in the paper. The procedure is carried out using the measured frequency characteristic determined on the basis of instantaneous values of investigated induction motor electromechanical quantities. The study has been subjected to an induction motor with a solid rotor manufactured from the magnetic material, i.e. a machine characterized by a significant skin effect occurring in rotor solid conductive elements.

This paper studies the evaluation of the video streaming over Mobile Peer-to-Peer (MP2P) networks using Scalable Video Coding. The proposed research framework exploits the MP2P diversity characteristics where each node acts as a Mobile Peer for every neighboring node in a relay-based communicating path. Mobile Peers use a common look-up table to request video streaming resources in order to estimate the video packets transfer duration in the end-to-end path. The collaborative streaming is achieved through the data packets replication policy, which uses a bounded upper time limitation for the video packets of each layer (Use of Scalable Video). Each node/device utilizes a specified amount of capacity for both channel and storage purposes. Different scenarios have been introduced in this paper towards evaluating the video streaming policy in the MP2P system, using a real-time probabilistic Fractional Brownian Motion (FBM) and a Random Waypoint (RWP) Mobility model. In both models, nodes move according to certain probabilities, location and time. Intermittent connectivity occurs while nodes claim video streams, whereas promiscuous caching policy enables -where possible-recoverability of lost packets offering priority to packets from the base layer. The simulation results show that FBM provides better objective and subjective quality results for two video sequences resolution, in the MP2P network configuration.

Some aspects of marine electric power plants load registration and identification have been presented. Methods of operating data collecting about marine electric power plant loads have been shown based on an example of three vessels - a chemical tanker, a container ship and a tanker. Power plants of these vessels have been described. Examples of collected operating data were presented. Range of marine electric power plant load identification research has been characterized, which presented in the paper results are a part of.

Nowadays, novel construction materials, more efficient power supplies and advanced artificial intelligence algorithms allow one to use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in various fields of life. One of the biggest events promoting this idea is the Air Cargo Challenge (ACC) competition. In this paper the motivation for ACC participation and the overall procedure of CAD aided UAV design are presented. The nonlinear aircraft model as well as Computational Fluid Dynamic simulations are discussed. Finally, some details concerning designed UAV prototype are revealed.

This paper addresses the input-to-state stability(ISS) properties, including pth moment ISS(p-ISS) and stochastic ISS(SISS) for a class of impulsive stochastic neural networks with external inputs. Employing Lyapunov functions and stochastic analysis techniques, sufficient conditions in forms of linear matrix inequalities for the p-ISS and SISS are established based on the average impulsive interval concept. Moreover, a criterion on the pth moment globally asymptotic stability and globally asymptotic stability in probability is derived as a corollary. Finally, an example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.

Random forests (RFs) have been widely used as a powerful classification method. However, with the randomization in both bagging samples and feature selection, the trees in the forest tend to select uninformative features for node splitting. This makes RFs have poor accuracy when working with high-dimensional data. Besides that, RFs have bias in the feature selection process where multivalued features are favored. Aiming at debiasing feature selection in RFs, we propose a new RF algorithm, called xRF, to select good features in learning RFs for high-dimensional data. We first remove the uninformative features using p-value assessment, and the subset of unbiased features is then selected based on some statistical measures. This feature subset is then partitioned into two subsets. A feature weighting sampling technique is used to sample features from these two subsets for building trees. This approach enables one to generate more accurate trees, while allowing one to reduce dimensionality and the amount of data needed for learning RFs. An extensive set of experiments has been conducted on 47 high-dimensional real-world datasets including image datasets. The experimental results have shown that RFs with the proposed approach outperformed the existing random forests in increasing the accuracy and the AUC measures. © 2015 Thanh-Tung Nguyen et al.

It is important to distinguish overlapped cell for tracking and segmentation biological cells from images. In this research, a novel or comprehensive method is provided with morphological features of cell and minimum distance for overlapped cells separation (OCS). it's necessary to say that this algorithm is not based on type and number of Overlapped cells. In this presented method based on a distance chart. At first, every cell or rectangle of cell is separated of the original image. Also, multiplex cell is distinguished by using minimum perimeter polygon (MPP) method. Distance chart is achieved on the base of morphological procedure and Computing of cell boundary distance to Cell middle axis in different epochs. By achieving the absolute minimum distance chart, candidate cutting points is detected and separated. Experimental results show the offered method is very effective and the work shows great assistance for the cell Cytoplasm segmentation. At the end, recognition accuracy and 97.4% separation for cells is achieved by this method.
