Tightly-Coupled Integrated LR-WPAN/WiMAX Network: Architecture and Performance Modelling

In this paper a general architecture of tightly-coupled integrated LR-WPAN/WiMAX network has been introduced by proposing and utilising a novel access router named Wireless Integrated Access Router (WIAR). The suggested access router effectively combines both WiMAX and LR-WPAN technologies in a same device. The main motivation to propose this integration is to deploy Internet of Things (IoT) applications and services in wide area networks. Using WiMAX as backhaul service, the Internet connection can be provided for dispersed mobile LR-WPAN users over a wide area. Moreover, it enables to access all collected data in the local LR-WPAN coverage area – which is named as Senspot in this paper – by third-party clients through the Internet. Furthermore, an analytic model has been developed for the integrated network to evaluate the system's performance. Theoretical results on blocking probability of new and handover calls from WiMAX subscribers, as well as new connections from LR-WPAN Senspots in a cell of WiMAX have been investigated in terms of call/connection rates and number of allocated channels.

In this paper,we proposed a hybrid method in extracting the attitude parameters of unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV), which is based on computer vision and improved artificial bee colony(ABC) *** is used as a characteristic line, whose two parameters,Φandσare utilized to obtain UAV's parameters:roll angleΨand pitch angleθ.Defogging Algorithm is used to make the original pictures clearer and gain the transmission image for horizon *** UAV could obtain the horizon through improved ABC *** also analyzed the relationship between line parameters and UAV parameters and calculated the UAV *** results verified the feasibility and effectiveness of our presented approach.

Topics of this article concern the study of the fundamental nature of the sonoluminescence phenomenon occurring in liquids. At the Institute of Electrical Power engineering at Opole university of technology the interest in that phenomenon known as secondary phenomenon of cavitation caused by ultrasound became the genesis of a research project concerning acoustic cavitation in mineral insulation oils in which a number of additional experiments performed in the laboratory aimed to determine the influence of a number of acoustic parameters on the process of the studied phenomenona. The main purpose of scientific research subject undertaken was to determine the relationship between the generation of partial discharges in high-voltage power transformer insulation systems, the issue of gas bubbles in transformer oils and the generated acoustic emission signals. It should be noted that currently in the standard approach, the phenomenon of generation of acoustic waves accompanying the occurrence of partial discharges is generally treated as a secondary phenomenon, but it can also be a source of many other related phenomena. Based on our review of the literature data on those referred subjects taken, it must be noted, that this problem has not been clearly resolved, and the description of the relationship between these phenomena is still an open question. This study doesn't prove all in line with the objective of the study, but can be an inspiration for new research project in the future in this topic. Solution of this problem could be a step forward in the diagnostics of insulation systems for electrical power devices based on non-invasive acoustic emission method.

Brain-computer interface (BCI) controlled wheelchair robots can serve as powerful aids for severely disabled people in their daily life, especially to help them move voluntarily. In order to better understand human “thought”, owing to the development of the hybrid brain/muscle interface technique, in this paper, we present a real-time hybrid brain/muscle interface to control a wheelchair directly to keep the disables recovering several motion capabilities by using noninvasive motor imagery Electroencephalography (EEG) and Electromyography (EMG). The EMG and EEG signals from the users are extracted to control the motion of an intelligent wheelchair. Both signals processing consists of off-line training, online control evaluation, and real-time control. An algorithm called the common spatial patterns (CSP) is used in this human-robot system to extract the most discriminative spatial patterns pairs as features. The extensive experiments were conducted on the developed human-wheelchair systems to verify the proposed approaches.

In this paper we study state-space realizations of Linear and Time-Invariant (LTI) systems. Motivated by biochemical reaction networks, Gonçalves and Warnick have recently introduced the notion of a Dynamical Structure Functions (DSF), a particular factorization of the system's transfer function matrix that elucidates the interconnection structure in dependencies between manifest variables. We build onto this work by showing an intrinsic connection between a DSF and certain sparse left coprime factorizations. By establishing this link, we provide an interesting systems theoretic interpretation of sparsity patterns of coprime factors. In particular we show how the sparsity of these coprime factors allows for a given LTI system to be implemented as a network of LTI sub-systems. We examine possible applications in distributed control such as the design of a LTI controller that can be implemented over a network with a pre-specified topology.

An affordance is a relation between an object, an action, and the effect of that action in a given environmental context. One key benefit of the concept of affordance is that it provides information about the consequence of an action which can be stored and reused in a range of tasks that a robot needs to learn and perform. In this paper, we address the challenge of the on-line learning and use of affordances simultaneously while performing goal-directed tasks. This requires efficient online performance to ensure the robot is able to achieve its goal fast. By providing conceptual knowledge of action possibilities and desired effects, we show that a humanoid robot NAO can learn and use affordances in two different task settings. We demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach by integrating affordances into an Extended Classifier System for learning general rules in a reinforcement learning framework. Our experimental results show significant speedups in learning how a robot solves a given task.

This paper describes a methodology to identify all the parameters of a quadrotor system including the structure parameters and rotor assembly parameters. A CAD model is developed using SOLIDWORKS to calculate the mass moment of inertia and all the missing geometrical parameters. A three simple test rigs are built and used to identify the relationship between the motor input Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signal and the angular velocity, the thrust force, and drag moment of the rotors. A simple algorithm is implemented to an inertial measurement unit (IMU) for estimating the attitude and altitude of the quadrotor. Experimental set up is built to verify and test the accuracy of these proposed techniques. A controller is designed based on the feedback linearization method such that the quadrotor attitude can be stabilized. Finally, the experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed techniques and the controller design.

Real objects in general are fractional-order (FO) systems, although in some types of systems the order is very close to integer order (IO). Since major advances have been made in the theory and practice of the identification of FO controlled objects and in the design of FO controllers, it is possible to consider also the real order of the dynamical systems and consider more quality criterion while designing the FO controllers with more degrees of freedom compared to their IO counterparts. In this paper, we present an application of the retuning method to design and apply new FO controller for the existing laboratory feedback control system with no modifications in the internal architecture of the original feedback control system. Along with the mathematical description, presented are also simulation results.
