Virtual view rendering is one of the key technologies to realize Three-Dimensional Television (3DTV) system. This paper presents a novel fast method of virtual view rendering that the holes are divided into large and small hole regions, which can be processed according to their size, also we propose using a new way of rendering that some pixels refer to the warping relation of previous frame and the other pixels update the warping relation by re-computing in the current rendering frame, in the process of selecting threshold to determine the two parts of pixel regions, we propose a mathematical model to adaptive select the threshold after a large number of experiments. Experimental results show that the proposed method is effective, and it effectively reduces the rendering time within a certain range of the quality of virtual image declining.

In this paper, gradient method is applied to the problem of satellite orbit determination. We used the ground station data (range, azimuth and elevation), for calculating the satellite position vector in the ECI frame. Satellite orbit is in the elliptic shape and satellite turns in orbital plane. Hence, orbit frame (PQW) is defined. Based on representation of input data in the PQW frame, we can define an ellipse. With the characteristics of an ellipse, beside definition of cost function and optimization technique, the satellite orbit is determined. This method, which can be easily implemented in hardware with moderate computational complexity, yield an efficient satellite positioning without assuming a prior knowledge of measurement noise. The performance, accuracy and error of algorithm are checked, by a test case.

The paper provides a case study on the wireless circuit for the purpose of the EGG (Electrogastrography) signal acquisition. The authors present an amplifier based on the ADS1298, wireless communication module (Bluetooth) and the microprocessor unit which have been recently built. The system is currently under examination but the outcome is very promising because the amplifier input is fed with the pure signal, i.e. no high/low pass filter is applied, that is a novelty. The system presented in this paper could be helpful in diagnosis gastric disorders in noninvasive way. It could determine patients with unexplained nausea, vomiting and other dyspeptic symptoms. The unit is under clinical trials tests and preliminary evaluation indicates acceptance by medical staff. Additional advantages are the relatively low cost of manufacture and the possibility of application remotely (pervasive computing).

Estimation of parameters of selected converter drives

The paper presents a method for estimation of converter drive parameters. This estimation encompassed three types of drives, i.e. a static Scherbius drive, a drive with a brushless direct current (BLDC) motor and a drive with a voltage inverter. For drive modelling and parameter estimation, the author implemented original programmes written in FORTRAN. As well as these, the paper describes an objective function applied for the estimation. The author also compares gradient and gradientless methods, which are applied for minimization of the objective function. Finally, the author explains the estimation results for example drives, focusing on the coincidence of theoretical and empirical waveforms. The abovementioned procedure led to the general rule, which facilitates estimation efficiency.

In this study, a system of discrete optical pulse generation via a series of microring resonator (MRR) is presented. Chaotic signals can be generated by an optical soliton or a Gaussian pulse within a MRR system. Large bandwidth signals of optical soliton are generated by input pulse propagating within the MRRs, which can be used to form continuous wavelength or frequency with large tunable channel capacity. Therefore, distinguished discrete wavelength or frequency pulses can be generated by using localized spatial pulses via a networks communication system. Selected discrete pulses are more suitable to generate high-secured quantum codes because of the large free spectral range (FSR). Quantum codes can be generated by using a polarization control unit and a beam splitter, incorporating to the MRRs. In this work, frequency band of 10.7 MHz and 16 MHz and wavelengths of 206.9 nm, 1448 nm, 2169 nm and 2489 nm are localized and obtained which can be used for quantum codes generation applicable for secured networks communication. © 2012 IEEE.

In general, due to some limitations of nonlinear control methods, it is difficult to analyze control performance for nonlinear multi-agent network. The T-S fuzzy model-based approach is often introduced to help solve the performance analysis in nonlinear systems, but the problem of nonlinear follower agents approaching a time-varying leader is difficult to be formulated by using the general T-S fuzzy modeling method. In this paper, a novel T-S fuzzy modeling method is proposed, and the error dynamics between the states of agents and the leader signal, evolving according to an isolated unforced nonlinear agent model, is described by a set of T-S fuzzy models. Based on the model, leader-following consensus algorithm is conveniently designed so that under external disturbances, all the follower agents achieve consensus with the leader guaranteeing a prescribed disturbance attenuation level in H ∞ sense. Finally, simulations with chaotic dynamic systems and sinusoidal functions are presented, and by applying the obtained results to the initial nonlinear systems, the effectiveness of the obtained results is illustrated.

This paper describes an unconstrained measurement system for scratching motion. We have proposed an unconstrained bed monitoring system by piezoceramic sensors that could detect heartbeat respiration and body movement. The system could measure the bed vibrations due to the motion of the person on the bed. In this paper, we apply this unconstrained bed sensing method to the system for detecting scratching motion. The proposed sensors are placed under the bed feet. When the subject is lying on the bed, the output signals from the sensors are proportional to the magnitude of the vibration due to the body movement of the subject. Hence, it is possible to detect the subject's scratching motion from the output signals. Furthermore, also with output signals from the three ceramic sensors, the proposed system can detect the direction of the body movement, which enables us to estimate the scratched area. We evaluated three scratching motions using the proposed system in the validity experiment as follows: Case 1 is the subject's scratching the right cheek with right hand;Case 2 is the subject's scratching the back after turning over, and;Case 3 is the subject's scratching the shin with another foot. As the results of the experiment, we identified the scratching signals that enable the determination when the scratching occurred. Furthermore, the difference among the amplitudes of the output signals enabled us to estimate where the subject scratched.

Fuzzy watershed algorithm: An enhanced algorithm for 2D gel electrophoresis image segmentation

An important issue in the analysis of two-dimensional electrophoresis images is the detection and quantification of protein spots. The main challenges in the segmentation of 2DGE images are to separate overlapping protein spots correctly and to find the abundance of weak protein spots. To enable comparison of protein patterns between different samples, it is necessary to match the patterns so that homologous spots are identified. In this paper, we describe a new robust technique to segment and model the different spots present in the gels. The Watershed segmentation algorithm is modified to handle the problem of over segmentation by initially partitioning the image to mosaic regions using the composition of fuzzy relations. The experimental results showed the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm to overcome the over segmentation problem associated with the available algorithm. We also use a wavelet denoising function to enhance the quality of the segmented image. The parameters of the wavelet function are obtained using the Genetic Algorithm search technique. The results of using the denoising function before the proposed Fuzzy Watershed segmentation algorithm is very promising as they are better than those without denoising. © 2012 International Journal of computer science Issues.

In digital forensics, data stored in a hard disk usually contains valuable evidence. Preserving the integrity of the data in the hard disk is a critical issue. A single hash value for the whole hard disk is not appropriate as the investigation may take a long time and latent sector errors (LSEs) (bad sectors due to media imperfection, for example) which cause a sector suddenly unreadable will make the hash value inconsistent. On the other hand, using a hash per sector may need to store a lot of hash values. Previous research has been conducted to use fewer hash values, but can resist some of LSEs to decrease the number of unverifiable sectors even if there are LSEs. This integrity problem is more complicated in the presence of Legal Professional Privileged (LPP) data inside a seized hard disk in digital forensic as the hard disk has to be cloned once seized and the original hard disk will be sealed after cloning. Hash values need to be computed during this cloning process. However, the cloned copy will be returned to the suspect for the deletion of LPP data before the investigator can work on the sanitized copy. Thus, the integrity of unmodified sectors has to be verified using the hash values computed based on the original hard disk. This paper found that existing schemes are not good enough to solve the integrity verification problem in the presence of both LSEs and deletion of LPP-protected data. We then propose the idea of a Dual Cube hashing scheme. The experiments show the proposed scheme performs better than the previous schemes and fits easily into the digital forensic procedure. Besides, an improved Dual Cube scheme with a new sector distribution algorithm is also proposed to further decrease the number of affected sectors by about 2 order of magnitude when the number of deleted sectors is increased to about 1 million.

Real objects in general are fractional-order (FO) systems, although in some types of systems the order is very close to an integer order. Also application of FO models is more adequate for the description of dynamical systems than integer-order models. This paper is devoted to the analogue electronic realization of the FO systems, e.g. controlled objects and/or controllers whose mathematical models are FO differential equations. The electronic realization is based on FO differentiator and FO integrator where operational amplifiers are connected with appropriate impedance or in our realization with so called Fractional Order Element (FOE) or Constant Phase Element (CPE). Presented network model in spite of its simplicity approximates quite well the properties of the ideal FO system compared with e.g. domino ladder networks. Also presented, along with the mathematical description, are simulation and measurement results.
