Osteoarthritis(OA)is a degenerative joint disease with significant clinical and societal *** diagnostic methods,including subjective clinical assessments and imaging techniques such as X-rays and MRIs,are often limited in their ability to detect early-stage OA or capture subtle joint *** limitations result in delayed diagnoses and inconsistent ***,the analysis of omics data is challenged by the complexity and high dimensionality of biological datasets,making it difficult to identify key molecular mechanisms and *** advancements in artificial intelligence(AI)offer transformative potential to address these *** review systematically explores the integration of AI into OA research,focusing on applications such as AI-driven early screening and risk prediction from electronic health records(EHR),automated grading and morphological analysis of imaging data,and biomarker discovery through multi-omics *** consolidating progress across clinical,imaging,and omics domains,this review provides a comprehensive perspective on how AI is reshaping OA *** findings have the potential to drive innovations in personalized medicine and targeted interventions,addressing longstanding challenges in OA diagnosis and management.

Predicting Microbe-Disease Association Based on Heterogeneous Network and Global Graph Feature Learning

Numerous microbes inhabit human body,making a vast difference in human health. Hence, discovering associations between microbes and diseases is beneficial to disease prevention and treatment. In this study,we develop a prediction method by learning global graph feature on the heterogeneous network(called HNGFL).Firstly, a heterogeneous network is integrated by known microbe-disease associations and multiple *** on microbe Gaussian interaction profile(GIP) kernel similarity, we consider different effects of these microbes on organs in the human body to further improve microbe similarity. For disease similarity network, we combine GIP kernel similarity, disease semantic similarity and disease-symptom similarity. And then, an embedding algorithm called GraRep is used to learn global structural information for this network. According to vector feature of every node, we utilize support vector machine classifier to calculate the score for each microbe-disease pair. HNGFL achieves a reliable performance in cross validation, outperforming the compared methods. In addition, we carry out case studies of three diseases. Results show that HNGFL can be considered as a reliable method for microbe-disease association prediction.

Hybrid tri-memristor hyperchaotic map and application in Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Nets

Nonnegative Matrix Factorization(NMF)is one of the most popular feature learning technologies in the field of machine learning and pattern *** has been widely used and studied in the multi-view clustering tasks because of its *** study proposes a general semi-supervised multi-view nonnegative matrix factorization *** algorithm incorporates discriminative and geometric information on data to learn a better-fused representation,and adopts a feature normalizing strategy to align the different *** specific implementations of this algorithm are developed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework:Graph regularization based Discriminatively Constrained Multi-View Nonnegative Matrix Factorization(GDCMVNMF)and Extended Multi-View Constrained Nonnegative Matrix Factorization(ExMVCNMF).The intrinsic connection between these two specific implementations is discussed,and the optimization based on multiply update rules is *** on six datasets show that the effectiveness of GDCMVNMF and ExMVCNMF outperforms several representative unsupervised and semi-supervised multi-view NMF approaches.

Kernel is a kind of data summary which is elaborately extracted from a large *** a problem,the solution obtained from the kernel is an approximate version of the solution obtained from the whole dataset with a provable approximate *** is widely used in geometric optimization,clustering,and approximate query processing,etc.,for scaling them up to massive *** this paper,we focus on the minimumε-kernel(MK)computation that asks for a kernel of the smallest size for large-scale data *** the open problem presented by Wang et *** whether the minimumε-coreset(MC)problem and the MK problem can be reduced to each other,we first formalize the MK problem and analyze its *** to the NP-hardness of the MK problem in three or higher dimensions,an approximate algorithm,namely Set Cover-Based Minimumε-Kernel algorithm(SCMK),is developed to solve *** prove that the MC problem and the MK problem can be Turing-reduced to each ***,we discuss the update of MK under insertion and deletion operations,***,a randomized algorithm,called the Randomized Algorithm of Set Cover-Based Minimumε-Kernel algorithm(RA-SCMK),is utilized to further reduce the complexity of *** efficiency and effectiveness of SCMK and RA-SCMK are verified by experimental results on real-world and synthetic *** show that the kernel sizes of SCMK are 2x and 17.6x smaller than those of an ANN-based method on real-world and synthetic datasets,*** speedup ratio of SCMK over the ANN-based method is 5.67 on synthetic ***-SCMK runs up to three times faster than SCMK on synthetic datasets.

Cognitive navigation, a high-level and crucial function for organisms' survival in nature, enables autonomous exploration and navigation within the environment. However, most existing works for bio-inspired navigation are implemented with non-neuromorphic computing. This work proposes a bio-inspired memristive spiking neural network (SNN) circuit for goal-oriented navigation, capable of online decision-making through reward-based learning. The circuit comprises three primary modules. The place cell module encodes the agent's spatial position in real-time through Poisson spiking;the action cell module determines the direction of subsequent movement;and the reward-based learning module provides a bio-inspired learning method adaptive to delayed and sparse rewards. To facilitate practical application, the entire SNN is quantized and deployed on a real memristive hardware platform, achieving about a 21 × reduction in energy consumption compared to a typical digital acceleration system in the forward computing phase. This work offers an implementation idea of neuromorphic solution for robotic navigation application in low-power scenarios. © 2007-2012 IEEE.

We study the efficient approximation algorithm for max-covering circle problem. Given a set of weighted points in the plane and a circle with specified size, max-covering circle problem is to find the proper place where the center of the circle is located so that the total weight of the points covered by the circle is maximized. Our core approach is to approximate the circle with a symmetrical rectilinear polygon (SRP). We first present a method to construct the circumscribed SRP of a given circle and disclose their area relationship. Then, we convert max-covering SRP problem to SRP intersection problem, which can be efficiently solved with simple partition and modification based on the existing method. Finally, the optimal solution returned from max-covering SRP problem can be used to produce an approximate answer to max-covering circle problem. We prove that for most of the inputs, our algorithm can give a (1 - Ε) approximation to the optimal solution, which only needs O(nΕ-1logn+nΕ-1log(1Ε)) time for unit points and o(nΕ-2logn) time for weighted points. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The document classification (DC) task assigns predefined classes to unlabeled documents using trained models. In the medical field, DC is crucial for tasks like categorizing risk factors and classifying electronic health records. This paper addresses challenges in medical document analysis, such as the prevalence of abbreviations and acronyms. Existing classification performance in medical documents is suboptimal. The paper introduces novel feature engineering methods leveraging domain-specific knowledge to enhance classification performance. Results indicate that the Three-Stage approach surpasses related works, showcasing improved medical document classification performance. © 2024 The Authors.

Accurately diagnosing Alzheimer's disease is essential for improving elderly ***,accurate prediction of the mini-mental state examination score also can measure cognition impairment and track the progression of Alzheimer's ***,most of the existing methods perform Alzheimer's disease diagnosis and mini-mental state examination score prediction separately and ignore the relation between these two *** address this challenging problem,we propose a novel multi-task learning method,which uses feature interaction to explore the relationship between Alzheimer's disease diagnosis and minimental state examination score *** our proposed method,features from each task branch are firstly decoupled into candidate and non-candidate parts for ***,we propose feature sharing module to obtain shared features from candidate features and return shared features to task branches,which can promote the learning of each *** validate the effectiveness of our proposed method on multiple *** Alzheimer's disease neuroimaging initiative 1 dataset,the accuracy in diagnosis task and the root mean squared error in prediction task of our proposed method is 87.86%and 2.5,*** results show that our proposed method outperforms most state-of-the-art *** proposed method enables accurate Alzheimer's disease diagnosis and mini-mental state examination score ***,it can be used as a reference for the clinical diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease,and can also help doctors and patients track disease progression in a timely manner.
