Population clustering methods, which consider the position and fitness of individuals to form sub-populations in multi-population algorithms, have shown high efficiency in tracking the moving global optimum in dynamic optimization problems. However, most of these methods use a fixed population size, making them inflexible and inefficient when the number of promising regions is unknown. The lack of a functional relationship between the population size and the number of promising regions significantly degrades performance and limits an algorithm’s agility to respond to dynamic changes. To address this issue, we propose a new species-based particle swarm optimization with adaptive population size and number of sub-populations for solving dynamic optimization problems. The proposed algorithm also benefits from a novel systematic adaptive deactivation component that, unlike the previous deactivation components, adapts the computational resource allocation to the sub-populations by considering various characteristics of both the problem and the sub-populations. We evaluate the performance of our proposed algorithm for the Generalized Moving Peaks Benchmark and compare the results with several peer approaches. Continuous subgraph matching (CSM) is a critical task for analyzing dynamic graphs and has a wide range of applications, such as merchant fraud detection, cyber-attack hunting, and rumor detection. Although many efficient CSM algorithms have been recently proposed, they are mainly designed to process a single query. However, in some application scenarios, multi-query oriented continuous subgraph matching (MQCSM) may be of more interest. To our knowledge, the two existing solutions to MQCSM are outdated due to unsatisfactory performance. In this paper, we propose MQ-Match, an efficient approach to MQCSM. First, we design a compact yet effective index structure CCG, which maintains the local matching result of vertices in the data graph using a directed graph. The directed edges in CCG can be utilized as an effective pruning rule for the subsequent incremental matching algorithm when expanding a partial match. Then, we develop a computation sharing incremental matching algorithm. In specific, a set of matching trees is constructed based on the depth-first search trees of the query graphs. By utilizing CCG, we conduct subgraph matching for the matching tree to collect the incremental matches for the query graphs, where the common structures of query graphs are matched only once. Extensive experiments show that MQ-Match can achieve 3.1x-7071.4x speedup over the competitors, and consumes much less memory under the majority of the experiment settings. © 2024 IEEE.

MILLION: A General Multi-Objective Framework with controllable Risk for Portfolio Management

Portfolio management is an important yet challenging task in AI for FinTech, which aims to allocate investors’ budgets among different assets to balance the risk and return of an investment. In this study, we propose a general Multi-objectIve framework with controlLable rIsk for pOrtfolio maNagement (MILLION), which consists of two main phases, i.e., return-related maximization and risk control. Specifically, in the return-related maximization phase, we introduce two auxiliary objectives, i.e., return rate prediction, and return rate ranking, combined with portfolio optimization to remit the overfitting problem and improve the generalization of the trained model to future markets. Subsequently, in the risk control phase, we propose two methods, i.e., portfolio interpolation and portfolio improvement, to achieve fine-grained risk control and fast risk adaption to a user-specified risk level. For the portfolio interpolation method, we theoretically prove that the risk can be perfectly controlled if the to-be-set risk level is in a proper interval. In addition, we also show that the return rate of the adjusted portfolio after portfolio interpolation is no less than that of the min-variance optimization, as long as the model in the reward maximization phase is effective. Furthermore, the portfolio improvement method can achieve greater return rates while keeping the same risk level compared to portfolio interpolation. Extensive experiments are conducted on three real-world datasets. The results demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed framework. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Data poisoning attacks, where adversaries manipulate training data to degrade model performance, are an emerging threat as machine learning becomes widely deployed in sensitive applications. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of data poisoning including attack techniques, adversary incentives, impacts on security and reliability, detection methods, defenses, and key research gaps. We examine label flipping, instance injection, backdoors, and other attack categories that enable malicious outcomes ranging from IP theft to accidents in autonomous systems. Promising detection approaches include statistical tests, robust learning, and forensics. However, significant challenges remain in translating academic defenses like adversarial training and sanitization into practical tools ready for operational use. With safety and trustworthiness at stake, more research on benchmarking evaluations, adaptive attacks, fundamental tradeoffs, and real-world deployment of defenses is urgently needed. Understanding vulnerabilities and developing resilient machine learning pipelines will only grow in importance as data integrity is fundamental to developing safe artificial intelligence. © The Institution of engineering & technology 2023.

In this paper,the application of transportation systems in realtime traffic conditions is evaluated with data handling *** proposed method is designed in such a way as to detect the number of loads that are present in a vehicle where functionality tasks are computed in the *** to the existing approach,the design model in the proposed method is made by dividing the computing areas into several cluster regions,thereby reducing the complex monitoring system where control errors are ***,a route management technique is combined with Artificial Intelligence(AI)algorithm to transmit the data to appropriate central ***,the combined objective case studies are examined as minimization and maximization criteria,thus increasing the efficiency of the proposed ***,four scenarios are chosen to investigate the projected design’s *** all simulated metrics,the proposed approach provides better operational outcomes for an average percentage of 97,thereby reducing the amount of traffic in real-time conditions.

Working in multi-talker mode is viable under certain conditions, such as the fusion of audio and video stimuli along with smart adaptive beamforming of received audio signals. In this article, the authors verify part of the researched novel framework, which focuses on adapting to dynamic interlocutor’s location changes in the engagement zone of humanoid robots during the multi-talker conversation. After evaluating the framework, the authors confirm the necessity of a complementary and independent method of increasing the interlocutor’s signal isolation accuracy. It is necessary when video analysis performance plummets. The authors described the leading cause as insufficient performance during dynamic conversations. The video analysis cannot derive a new configuration when the interlocutor’s speech apparatus moves beyond the expected margin and the video frame rate drops.

Local rough set models are efficient rough data analysis methods for weakly labeled data in the rough set field. However, the existing local models do not distinguish the importance of different attributes to decisions when describing and defining binary relations, resulting in inaccurate information granules or classes, which affects the accuracy of concept approximation. In this paper, we choose local neighborhood rough sets as the representative model, and then propose Local Weighted Neighborhood Rough Sets (LWNRS). First, the importance of attributes to decisions is quantified by combining the supervised information of labeled data and the structural information of unlabeled data, and an attribute weighted method based on semi-supervised dynamic optimization is proposed. Meanwhile, the weighted neighborhood relation and neighborhood classes of objects are defined under weakly labeled data, and the WLNRS model is constructed. In addition, the weighted dependency is proposed to measure the data uncertainty, and the relationships among WLNRS and other relevant local and global models are deeply explored. Finally, the efficiency and accuracy of WLNRS in concept approximation are verified by comparison.

Zn-CO_(2)batteries(ZCBs)are promising for CO_(2)conversion and electric energy ***,the ZCBs couple the electrochemical CO_(2)reduction(ECO_(2)R)with the oxygen evolution reaction and competitive hydrogen evolution reaction,which normally causes ultrahigh charge voltage and CO_(2)conversion efficiency attenuation,thereby resulting in~90%total power ***,isolated FeN_(3)sites encapsulated in hierarchical porous carbon nanoboxes(Fe-HPCN,derived from the thermal activation process of ferrocene and polydopamine-coated cubic ZIF-8)were proposed for hydrazine-assisted rechargeable ZCBs based on ECO_(2)R(discharging process:CO_(2)+2H+→CO+H_(2)O)and hydrazine oxidation reaction(HzOR,charging process:N_(2)H_(4)+4OH−→N_(2)+4H_(2)O+4e^(−)).The isolated FeN_(3)endows the HzOR with a lower overpotential and boosts the ECO_(2)R with a 96%CO Faraday efficiency(FECO).Benefitting from the bifunctional ECO_(2)R and HzOR catalytic activities,the homemade hydrazine-assisted rechargeable ZCBs assembled with the Fe-HPCN air cathode exhibited an ultralow charge voltage(decreasing by~1.84 V),excellent CO selectivity(FECO close to 100%),and high 89%energy *** situ infrared spectroscopy confirmed that Fe-HPCN can generate rate-determining*N_(2)and*CO intermediates during HzOR and ECO_(2)*** paper proposes FeN_(3)centers for bifunctional ECO_(2)R/HzOR performance and further presents the pioneering achievements of ECO_(2)R and HzOR for hydrazine-assisted rechargeable ZCBs.
