Learning management systems (LMS) generate large amounts of real-time data which has the potential to provide valuable insights. Hadoop MapReduce is a scalable framework that is designed to handle such data. This paper presents a system architecture that integrates Hadoop MapReduce into Moodle, a popular LMS, for analyzing academic data. The implementation of the architecture allows users to generate a variety of reports from student attendance logs through a Moodle plugin which utilizes the Hadoop cluster for processing data. Users such as lecturers can then utilize these reports to identify which students do and do not engage in which courses as well as monitor their eligibility for exams. The use of Hadoop MapReduce provides high performance computing (HPC) capabilities that offer distributed parallel processing and economical scalability by means of adding commodity nodes to the cluster. © 2024 IEEE.

Internet of Things (IoT) devices are small, low-power devices used for detecting and processing data remotely through the internet. These devices have increasingly been integrated into our daily lives, both in the digital and physical world. However, this interconnectedness poses risks of being targeted by malware due to limited resources and connectivity. Machine learning (ML) techniques can be used to identify and prevent malware attacks on IoT devices. In this research report, we investigate the use of ML techniques for classifying malware in IoT devices. Our research includes the implementation and evaluation of decision tree, k-nearest neighbors (KNN), and XGBoost algorithms. Our evaluation metrics include accuracy, precision, recall, and the average of precision and recall. Our method is tested using a dataset of real-world malware attacks on IoT devices, and the XGBoost algorithm achieves the highest accuracy of 98.44%, demonstrating its effectiveness in detecting and classifying malware in IoT devices. © 2024 IEEE.

COVID-19 is a respiratory disease for which reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) is the standard detection method. This study introduces a hybrid deep learning approach to support the diagnosis of respiratory abnormalities, using COVID-19 as a case study. Multiple datasets were utilized, including the COVID-19 Radiography dataset (Kaggle), the SARS-CoV-2 CT-Scan dataset, and proprietary data from the King Faisal Medical Complex. Seven pre-trained deep learning models—VGG16, VGG19, MobileNet, DenseNet201, ResNet50, InceptionResNetV2, and InceptionV3—were evaluated for their performance. InceptionResNetV2 and InceptionV3 achieved perfect accuracy (100%) on the COVID-19 Radiography dataset and 99% accuracy on the SARS-CoV-2 CT-Scan dataset. Additionally, augmentation techniques were explored to improve model robustness. This research contributes significantly to medical imaging, offering practical insights for advancing diagnostic and monitoring practices for COVID-19 and other respiratory conditions. ©2024 IEEE.

Ensuring the safe navigation of autonomous vehicles in intelligent transportation system depends on their ability to detect pedestrians and vehicles. While transformer-based models for object detection have shown remarkable advancements, accurately identifying pedestrians and vehicles in adverse weather conditions remains a challenging task. Adverse weather introduces image quality degradation, leading to issues such as low contrast, reduced visibility, blurred edges, false detection, misdetection of tiny objects, and other impediments that further complicate the accuracy of detection. This paper introduces a novel Pedestrian and Vehicle Detection Model under adverse weather conditions, denoted as PVDM-YOLOv8l. In our proposed model, we first incorporate the Swin-Transformer method, which is designed for global extraction of feature of small objects to identify in poor visibility, into the YOLOv8l backbone structure. To enhance detection accuracy and address the impact of inaccurate features on recognition performance, CBAM is integrated between the neck and head networks of YOLOv8l, aiming to gather crucial information and obtain essential data. Finally, we adopted the loss function Wise-IOU v3. This function was implemented to mitigate the adverse effects of low-quality instances by minimizing negative gradients. Additionally, we enhanced and augmented the DAWN dataset and created a custom dataset, named DAWN2024, to cater to the specific requirements of our study. To verify the superiority of PVDM-YOLOV8l, its performance was compared against several commonly used object detectors, including YOLOv3, YOLOv3-tiny, YOLOv3-spp, YOLOv5, YOLOv6, and all the versions of YOLOv8 (n, m, s, l, and x) and some traditional models. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed model achieved a 6.6%, 5.4%, 6%, and 5.1% improvement in precision, recall, F1-score and mean Average Precision (mAP) on the custom DAWN2024 dataset. In today's world, cyber-attacks are on the rise, and PDF files are commonly used as a means of attack. One common type of attack through PDF files is the covert embedding of dangerous malware and tricking users into clicking on malicious links. The victims may have their important data stolen and suffer various forms of damage. Detecting malware embedded in PDF files can help mitigate the harm to users. This project aims to study methods for detecting malware embedded in PDF files using machine learning techniques, with the best-performing model being Gradient Boosting, achieving an accuracy of 99% in 5-fold cross-validation and 97% using 10 features. Using Feature Selection Technique Voting from 3 Models consist of Logistic Regression, Random Forest, Lasso Regression, Each model will choose matching features to use for machine learning analysis. In the big data technology nowadays, activities associated with Multi-Label Classification (MLC) pose big and complex challenges, receiving terrific interest in diverse fields. Existing MLC algorithms suffer from low overall performance. This paper considers four well-known Problem Transformation Methods (PTMs). Two of these PTMs are based on the frequency of the labels (MFL and LFL) while the last two PTMs are based on the positive correlations among labels. These PTMs have been implemented and compared against four multi label datasets of various sizes to identify the best one that fits the nature of MLC datasets. Moreover, six popular ensemble learning models have been carried out and compared on the four datasets with respect to several evaluation metrics such as Accuracy, Hamming loss, and Exact Match and using SMO, DecisionStump, Random Forest, and Random Commission classifiers. The results revealed that MFL accomplished the quality performance amongst the four PTMs, and Stacking SVM is the best ensemble learning technique. © 2024 IEEE.

Leveraging advanced computer vision techniques, we present a novel method for analyzing and categorizing traffic videos by utilizing an image mapping technique combined with a UniVit (Unit Vision Transformer) model. First, video data is transformed into an image dataset, where each frame undergoes a mapping process based on vehicle detection using the YOLOv8s algorithm. These mapped images are then input into a vision transformer, which utilizes attention mechanisms to identify and analyze complex patterns across frames. The approach is evaluated on the UCSD (University of California San Diego) dataset, which features diverse weather conditions such as clear, overcast, and rainy scenarios, enabling a rigorous assessment under varied environments. Our method achieves a notable accuracy score of 99.89%, surpassing previous approaches on the UCSD benchmark. This improvement underscores the effectiveness of combining image mapping with advanced vision transformers, suggesting promising applications for intelligent traffic management systems aimed at mitigating traffic issues. © 2025, Aracne Editrice. Workflow management has become an important topic in many research communities. Here, we focus on the particular aspect of provenance tracking. We follow the W3C PROV standard and formulate a provenance model for Lattice QCD that includes the ensemble-generation and measurement parts of the Lattice QCD workflow. To build an intelligent intrusion detection system, it is essential to have a suitable and high-quality dataset with a sufficiently large quantity to simulate real-world scenarios. The NSL-KDD dataset is an improved version derived from the previous KDD 99 dataset. In this article, an analysis of the NSL-KDD dataset was conducted to study the efficiency of classification machine learning in detecting abnormalities in network data transmission patterns. The study achieved the highest accuracy by XGBoost method using 14 features important and grid search for hyperparameter tuning and revealing many interesting insights. This research has significant implications and can be further applied in the field of cybersecurity by leveraging machine learning for network intrusion detection systems. © 2024 IEEE.

In the contemporary business landscape, software has evolved into a strategic asset crucial for organizations seeking sustainable competitive advantage. The imperative of ensuring software quality becomes evident as low-quality software systems pose formidable challenges to organizational performance. This study delves into the profound impact of three key dimensions of information system quality on organizational performance—information quality (IQ), quality of service (QoS), and software quality (SQ). Anchored in the DeLone and McLean information system (IS) success model, a quantitative questionnaire was administered to 360 industry experts and academics. Rigorous data analysis, employing exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and structural equation modeling (SEM), revealed significant positive effects of all three quality dimensions on organizational performance. Among these dimensions, software quality emerged as the most influential, showcasing substantial total effects, closely followed by information and service qualities. The study underscores the tangible value derived from strategic investments in enhancing software, information, and service quality. Elevating these facets manifests as a catalyst for improved organizational performance, empowering decision-makers with accurate and timely information while enhancing user satisfaction with the system. This research contributes significantly to the IS success literature by empirically validating the synergistic relationship between information quality, service quality, software quality, and organizational outcomes. The systematic analysis offered in this study goes beyond theoretical validation, providing actionable insights for managers. The findings guide the prioritization of quality initiatives and resource allocation, enabling organizations to maximize competitive advantage.
