Causal systems often exhibit variations of the underlying causal mechanisms between the variables of the system. Often, these changes are driven by different environments or internal states in which the system operates, and we refer to context variables as those variables that indicate this change in causal mechanisms. An example are the causal relations in soil moisture-temperature interactions and their dependence on soil moisture regimes: Dry soil triggers a dependence of soil moisture on latent heat, while environments with wet soil do not feature such a feedback, making it a context-specific property. Crucially, a regime or context variable such as soil moisture need not be exogenous and can be influenced by the dynamical system variables - precipitation can make a dry soil wet - leading to joint systems with endogenous context variables. In this work we investigate the assumptions for constraint-based causal discovery of context-specific information in systems with endogenous context variables. We show that naive approaches such as learning different regime graphs on masked data, or pooling all data, can lead to uninformative results. We propose an adaptive constraint-based discovery algorithm and give a detailed discussion on the connection to structural causal models, including sufficiency assumptions, which allow to prove the soundness of our algorithm and to interpret the results causally. Numerical experiments demonstrate the performance of the proposed method over alternative baselines, but they also unveil current limitations of our method. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. Personalized news recommendation is the process of predicting the relevance of news to users and recommending news to user to fulfill their information needs. However, existing news recommendation methods extract semantic information from users and candidate news respectively, ignoring semantic interaction information between users and candidate news. Furthermore, previous models only use same node types for message passing, ignoring different characteristics and topology between different node types. In addition, existing methods learn news representations through text representations, ignoring semantic correlation information between entity relationships and texts. To solve these problems, we propose a personalized news recommendation model named CoHG. In our model, we design a collaborative fusion module to obtain semantic interaction information through interacting user history news with candidate news. Furthermore, we design a heterogeneous gated graph neural network that maps different node types into a same space to extract higher-order information in user graphs for message passing. Moreover, we design an enhanced relevant attention module to enhance semantic correlation information of text content by aggregating text representation and entity representation into a unified representation. Finally, we conducted experiments on MIND and Adressa datasets to compare with other baseline models. © 2024 IEEE.

As artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainability initiatives increasingly intersect, understanding public perceptions of their relationship becomes crucial for successful implementation. However, no validated instrument exists to measure these specific perceptions. This paper presents the development and validation of the Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability Perceptions Inventory (AISPI), a novel 13-item instrument measuring how individuals view the relationship between AI advancement and environmental sustainability. Through factor analysis (N = 105), we identified two distinct dimensions: ‘Twin Transition’ and ‘Competing Interests’. The instrument demonstrated strong reliability (α = .89) and construct validity through correlations with established measures of AI and sustainability attitudes. Our findings suggest that individuals can simultaneously recognize both synergies and tensions in the AI-sustainability relationship, offering important implications for researchers and practitioners working at this critical intersection. This work provides a foundational tool for future research on public perceptions of AI’s role in sustainable development. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Phishing,an Internet fraudwhere individuals are deceived into revealing critical personal and account information,poses a significant risk to both consumers and web-based *** indicates a persistent rise in phishing ***,these fraudulent schemes are progressively becoming more intricate,thereby rendering them more challenging to ***,it is imperative to utilize sophisticated algorithms to address this *** learning is a highly effective approach for identifying and uncovering these harmful *** learning(ML)approaches can identify common characteristics in most phishing *** this paper,we propose an ensemble approach and compare it with six machine learning techniques to determine the type of website and whether it is normal or not based on two phishing *** that,we used the normalization technique on the dataset to transform the range of all the features into the same *** findings of this paper for all algorithms are as follows in the first dataset based on accuracy,precision,recall,and F1-score,respectively:Decision Tree(DT)(0.964,0.961,0.976,0.968),Random Forest(RF)(0.970,0.964,0.984,0.974),Gradient Boosting(GB)(0.960,0.959,0.971,0.965),XGBoost(XGB)(0.973,0.976,0.976,0.976),AdaBoost(0.934,0.934,0.950,0.942),Multi Layer Perceptron(MLP)(0.970,0.971,0.976,0.974)and Voting(0.978,0.975,0.987,0.981).So,the Voting classifier gave the best *** in the second dataset,all the algorithms gave the same results in four evaluation metrics,which indicates that each of them can effectively accomplish the prediction ***,this approach outperformed the previous work in detecting phishing websites with high accuracy,a lower false negative rate,a shorter prediction time,and a lower false positive rate.

Edge Computing is an incredibly practical and affordable alternative IoT device for cloud computing that uses a revolutionary methodology. Not only does edge processing reduce the cost of systems administration frameworks, but it also improves edge-cloud latency, which is essential for all critical applications. Plant diseases have a catastrophic impact on food production security and can lead to a sharp decline in the quantity and quality of agricultural products. In severe cases, plant diseases may continue to be the cause of partial grain failure. As a result, an automated method for diagnosing and detecting plant diseases is vitally needed for all agricultural data. In this paper, we have proposed a plant disease detection method based on transfer learning and tested the model's performance on IoT edge device. Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) is used in the proposed system to classify plant leaf diseases based on data extracted by CNN. An internal memory within the LSTM network allows it to learn from critical experiences with long-term conditions. Therefore, the combination of CNN and LSTM layout features significantly enhances classification. It is suggested to use a Deep Convolutional Neural Network based on a pre-trained MobileNetV1 feature extractor and an LSTM classifier. The proposed model's performance is contrasted with that of other pre-trained models, including NASNetMobile and MobileNetV2. The proposed model outperformed other models, achieving a validation accuracy of 0.9892. © 2024 IEEE.

Among exotic reptiles, bearded dragons (Pogona) are popular pets. As ectotherms, bearded dragons require special food and controlled environments, including temperature, humidity, ultraviolet light, and cleanliness. This research applied the Internet of Things (IoT) to control environments within the pet enclosure. In addition, the You Only Look Once (YOLO) deep learning algorithm applied to convolutional neural networks was used to create object detection to count crickets eaten by a dragon and detect feces inside the enclosure. To find the appropriate YOLO structure, three varied experiments were proposed, including different versions YOLO and sizes as well as hyperparameter tuning. Results were that YOLYv5s with 16 batches and 0.01 learning rate was the appropriate structure with an average precision of 0.8246 and 0.6051 for detecting crickets and feces, respectively, at a mean average precision of 0.7149. The proposed enclosure with object detection may improve efficiency and reduce redundancy in breeder tasks. © 2023 IEEE.

Imitation learning has emerged as a promising approach for addressing sequential decision-making problems, with the assumption that expert demonstrations are optimal. However, in real-world scenarios, most demonstrations are often imperfect, leading to challenges in the effectiveness of imitation learning. While existing research has focused on optimizing with imperfect demonstrations, the training typically requires a certain proportion of optimal demonstrations to guarantee performance. To tackle these problems, we propose to purify the potential noises in imperfect demonstrations first, and subsequently conduct imitation learning from these purified demonstrations. Motivated by the success of diffusion model, we introduce a two-step purification via diffusion process. In the first step, we apply a forward diffusion process to smooth potential noises in imperfect demonstrations by introducing additional noise. Subsequently, a reverse generative process is utilized to recover the optimal demonstration from the diffused ones. We provide theoretical evidence supporting our approach, demonstrating that the distance between the purified and optimal demonstration can be bounded. Empirical results on MuJoCo and RoboSuite demonstrate the effectiveness of our method from different aspects. Copyright 2024 by the author(s)

Most artificial intelligence (AI) applications are designed under the model-centric AI (MCAI) approach, where data scientists aim to optimize the machine learning (ML) models starting with fixed, preprocessed data. However, businesses often struggle with limited datasets, changes in data over time, and limited ML knowledge, making it difficult to maintain data quality. One potential approach is data-centric AI (DCAI), which systematically improves the data quality used to build AI systems. However, rapid growth in data volume leads to challenges in selecting the most suitable operations for enhancing data quality thereby maintaining data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability in real-world applications. To address this gap, we propose a novel framework, namely Layered data-Centric AI (LDCAI) by expanding upon the existing DCAI Pipeline. LDCAI employs a three-layered approach, starting with the DCAI layer which generates the initial training data. This data is then analyzed and refined in the data Analysis (DA) layer by a team of data scientists and domain experts. The refined data is later sent to the data Quality Control (DQC) layer for additional quality checks and improvements by data scientists. The entire process can be iterated as needed to continuously improve data quality, which can be fed back into the DCAI layer’s model to achieve better predictions and outcomes. The implementation is illustrated through a scalable and customizable architecture designed for optimizing data quality within AI systems. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Multi-objective optimization is critical for problem-solving in engineering,economics,and *** study introduces the Multi-Objective Chef-Based Optimization Algorithm(MOCBOA),an upgraded version of the Chef-Based Optimization Algorithm(CBOA)that addresses distinct *** approach is unique in systematically examining four dominance relations—Pareto,Epsilon,Cone-epsilon,and Strengthened dominance—to evaluate their influence on sustaining solution variety and driving convergence toward the Pareto *** comparison investigation,which was conducted on fifty test problems from the CEC 2021 benchmark and applied to areas such as chemical engineering,mechanical design,and power systems,reveals that the dominance approach used has a considerable impact on the key optimization measures such as the hypervolume *** paper provides a solid foundation for determining themost effective dominance approach and significant insights for both theoretical research and practical applications in multi-objective optimization.
