Heterogeneous signcryption scheme from CLC to IBC for IIoT

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) involves the real-time gathering of information from physical devices and technologies for improved perception and management. To ensure information transmission security, an efficient and secure cryptography scheme is needed, especially for devices under resource constraints. In this paper, a heterogeneous signcryption (HSC) scheme is designed to meet security requirements in the IIoT environment. This construction employs a heterogeneous system, with the sender using certificateless cryptography (CLC) to effectively solve the key escrow problem in identity-based cryptography (IBC) and the certificate management problem in public key infrastructure (PKI). The receiver, on the other hand, uses IBC to settle the certificate management issue in PKI. The scheme supports formal security proof in the random oracle model (ROM). Furthermore, the detailed performance analysis demonstrates that the scheme has advantages in terms of energy consumption and computation overhead, making it suitable for the IIoT environment. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Electronic nose (e-nose) technology has become a powerful tool for identifying and evaluating complex scents in a variety of contexts, such as environmental monitoring, medical diagnostics, and food quality control. This review study looks at how important pattern recognition and data processing are to improving e-nose system performance. This study covered challenges, including data complexity, cross-sensitivity and interference, sensor drift, and a lack of standardization. The article covers several future directions, such as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to advance pattern recognition and predictive analytics, integration with the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data for real-time monitoring, and advancements in sensor technology for improved sensitivity and *** research work is underway towards the development of low power flexible sensors, improved multi sensor fusion Methodologies, smart adaptive algorithms, Application for personalized health monitoring and diagnostics as well to make it green technologies. The emergence of blockchain technology is transforming various aspects, including electronic voting (e-voting) systems, which have become increasingly important due to the need for transparency, accessibility, and security in voting processes. This study explores the suitability of four Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible blockchain platforms—Fantom, Arbitrum One, Avalanche, and Polygon zkEVM—for implementing e-voting systems by evaluating their scalability metrics, including cost, throughput, efficiency, and delay. Fantom performs well in transaction cost and efficiency, similar to Arbitrum One in terms of scalability, offering low delay and high throughput. Avalanche consensus and architecture promise high throughput. Polygon zkEVM zk-Rollups offer scalability with growing infrastructure. The optimal choice of blockchain platform for e-voting systems relies on carefully evaluating the specific scalability requirements of the election scenario. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

This study examines the prevalence of mobile phone use among motorcycle riders at signalized intersections in Marrakech, utilizing advanced computer vision techniques. Employing the YOLOv8 object detection model and the DeepSORT tracking algorithm, our approach effectively detects and tracks mobile phone usage in real-time traffic scenarios. By analyzing data from strategically placed cameras at high-traffic intersections, the research identifies patterns in mobile phone usage among motorcyclists and evaluates the impact on traffic safety. The specification of experiments expressed as Complex Analytics Workflows is a complex task that involves many decision-making steps with various degrees of complexity. The use of the context, the expert knowledge, and the potential for its sharing and reuse in the context of experiment specification have not been addressed sufficiently until now. Moreover, to make such knowledge instrumental, it should be coupled with specific probabilistic measures, such as particular assurances, ranking, and verification of various options. The paper aims to present a novel semantic model for probabilistic reasoning in any experimentation context coupled with a functional system for knowledge generation, reuse, and sharing. This paper proposes a new ecosystem vision designed to measure and incentivize citizen and corporate engagement in environmental stewardship through circular economy (CE). The ecosystem uses a gamified platform where participants earn digital points for performing two types of operations: (1) recycling matters and (2) reusing items, within smart communities. We propose to consider these points as a new global digital currency redeemable for rewards and services offered by participating businesses worldwide. The businesses are mainly the polluters that aim to have green advertisement and engagement in the "polluter pays" principle. Consequently, these businesses will benefit simultaneously from green advertising and tax reductions. A suite of digital services and AI-powered tools are used to optimize operations and generate valuable data for improving both urban and rural sustainability initiatives. By making this new currency, we can assess environmental engagement, motivate citizens to adhere into CE, and impose hierarchical participation in sustainable practices. This paper outlines the ecosystem's components, discusses the feasibility of our proposal, and explores its potential benefits and challenges for various stakeholders. In the world of cryptocurrencies, there is the possibility of participating in numerous processes in which some kind of reward is obtained, most often in the form of cryptocurrency. This paper investigates the possibilities of using laboratory computers at the faculty of Electrical engineering, Computing and Information Technologies in these processes when they are not used for teaching purposes. The hardware specifications of the computer were collected and an insight into the ways of cryptocurrency earnings mining and validation was provided. Mining is the most well-known earning process, and it was introduced with the Bitcoin cryptocurrency, and based on this cryptocurrency, this process is described in detail. Due to the hardware configuration of the computer, in this paper we focus on the profitability of CPU mining of cryptocurrencies that can be mined this way, namely Monero, Zephyr, Raptoreum, Skytere and Subi Network. This type of mining has been unprofitable for Bitcoin for years. Computing power does not have to be used only for the mining process. For example, Solana uses CPUs to validate transactions. This paper combines technical and economic analyses, taking into account computer specifications to assess the economic viability of cryptocurrency mining and validation on college computers. We highlight the importance of organization, maintenance, and economic factors in managing these processes, providing practical guidelines for optimal utilization of faculty resources for the purpose of cryptocurrency earnings. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Machine learning algorithms face important implementation difficulties due to imbalanced learning since the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) helps improve performance through the creation of new minority class examples in feature space before preprocessing. The underlying problem leading to performance deterioration emerges from noise and boundary instances found in the minority class rather than an excessive imbalance ratio. Noise and marginal samples become problematic during oversampling operations since they reduce the performance of classification models. This paper proposes an advanced version of Borderline-SMOTE (BL-SMOTE), called ABL-SMOT approach that utilizes INFFC for noise filtering to optimize data quality in the dataset. This improvement method for minority class sample placement and noise filtering ensures higher classifier performance through ABL-SMOTE. The proposed technique receives assessment through the usage of software defect datasets along with multiple testing classifiers against conventional data sampling procedures. The experimental outcomes show that ABL-SMOTE performs better than alternative approaches in most tested datasets because it is an effective preprocessing tool for imbalanced classification problems. © 2013 IEEE.

Future wireless networks could benefit from the energy-efficient, low-latency, and scalable deployments that Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RISs) offer. However, the creation of an effective low overhead channel estimate technique is a major obstacle in RIS-assisted systems, especially given the high number of RIS components and intrinsic hardware constraints. This research examines the uplink of a RIS-empowered multi-user MIMO communication system and presents a novel semi-blind channel estimate approach. Unlike current approaches, which rely on pilot-based channel estimation, our methodology uses data to estimate channels, considerably enhancing the achievable rate. We provide a closed-form deterministic expression for the uplink achievable rate in actual settings where the channel state information (CSI) must be estimated rather than assumed perfect. The results of the simulations show that the formula obtained is accurate, with a close alignment between the deterministic and actual achievable rates (generally between 2 5% deviations). The proposed approach outperforms traditional approaches, resulting in rate increases of up to 35–40%, especially in instances with more RIS elements. These findings illustrate RIS technology's tremendous potential to improve system capacity and coverage, providing useful insights for optimizing RIS adoption in future wireless networks. © 2020 IEEE.

This research paper proposes the implementation of a teaching strategy for the Lean software development course targeting third-year undergraduate students. Additionally, the intermediate results of applying the proposed methodology are provided. The primary objective is to suggest an instructional approach and enhance the overall learning experience. The proposed methodology employs a diverse set of research methods, including both qualitative and quantitative approaches, to comprehensively assess the outcomes associated with the Lean software development course. Specifically, the teaching strategy encompasses preliminary grade selection, mid-oral exams, quizzes, project-based learning, and a final exam.
