Software systems are essential in modern life and require rigorous testing to ensure reliability. Pairwise testing, a combinatorial testing methodology, optimizes test case generation by minimizing redundancy while maintaining defect detection effectiveness. This review systematically examines the role of metaheuristic algorithms in pairwise test case generation, focusing on their exploration and exploitation mechanisms to address local optima challenges. Covering research from 2014 to 2024, the review evaluates hybrid and metaheuristic strategies, including Pairwise Migrating Birds Optimization-Based Strategies (PMBOS), Pairwise Gravitational Search Algorithm Strategy (PGSAS), Pairwise hybrid Artificial Bee Colony (PhABC), Genetic and Particle Swarm Optimization (GAPSO) algorithm, Hybrid Optimization Algorithm (HOA), and Parameter Free Choice Function based Hyper-Heuristic (PCFHH), among others. These methods consistently outperform traditional techniques by reducing test suite sizes and enhancing fault detection capabilities. The findings underscore the growing adoption of the one-test-at-a-time (OTAT) approach over the one-parameter-at-a-time (OPAT) approach and identify key challenges in scalability, hyperparameter tuning, and constraint handling, highlighting the need for hybrid strategies and adaptive optimization techniques. This review offers valuable insights into advancing Software testing methodologies and presents recommendations for future research to improve efficiency, scalability, and fault detection in pairwise testing. © 2013 IEEE.

The proposed web application for tomato leaf disease detection exemplifies the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence and computer Vision in modern agriculture. Addressing the critical issue of early and accurate disease detection, this solution bridges the gap between advanced technological innovations and the practical needs of farming. The application is designed using Streamlit and Python to combine the usability of a friendly interface with the power of robust analytical capabilities in CNN, offering real-time reliable diagnosis and actionable insights to farmers. This application provides the highest possible accuracy and adaptability through the thorough training and evaluation of models and is a good asset for disease management. Deployment on scalable cloud platforms ensures access, reliability, and global reach. Future improvements, including extending disease detection to other crops, multilingual support, real-time recommendations, and integration with IoT devices, promise to expand its reach and utility. This initiative is a shining example of how AI-based solutions can transform agricultural practices by enhancing productivity, reducing losses, and ensuring sustainability. By enabling precise, individualized, and effective treatments, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) into wound and skin healing is revolutionizing healthcare. Artificial intelligence-controlled tools improve wound assessment, anticipate healing, and collaborate with regular examinations using cutting-edge dressings and imaging technologies. AI computations work on the management of express data to enhance treatment systems, while advancements in nanomaterials like marine collagen and therapies employing young microorganisms further accelerate skin recovery. Despite encouraging findings, there are still problems, such as potential overfitting and dataset limitations. In general, machine learning is changing the way that injuries are treated by providing proactive, tailored solutions that aim to understand outcomes and lower the cost associated with clinical outcomes. © 2025 IEEE.

In this paper, a discrete-time predator–prey system with mixed Holling types I and III functional responses and fear effect is discussed. Three fixed points are determined and their stability is established. Analytical criteria for Neimark Sacker bifurcation (NSB) and flip bifurcation (FB) are proposed. Applying the technique of state feedback control, we introduce the corresponding controlled system. At an unstable fixed point the chaotic orbits can be stabilized. We show that the fear effect of prey species has a negative effect on the density of predator species in our model. Furthermore, fear effect may increase the possibility that prey species will go extinct, which implies that Allee effect may occur in this case. These analytical studies are illustrated with some numerical simulations. © 2025 The Authors

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Analytics are greatly transforming the healthcare scenario by facilitating the early detection of diseases, personalized medicine, and improved public health interventions. AI, by employing machine learning and deep learning, processes big and complex datasets, whereas Big Data detects patterns and predicts risks, enhancing resource utilization and readiness for health emergencies. Yet, the technologies are faced with a range of challenges that include data security concerns, matters of integrating many systems, and the requirement of real-time processing in ever-changing healthcare environments. Although recent technological advancements such as sophisticated deep learning algorithms and decentralized data processing have been promising solutions to some of these challenges, issues of easy integration and privacy remain. This paper suggests an objective-oriented framework to enhance the application of AI and Big Data solutions in healthcare to overcome current limitations and establish a more efficient, personalized, and predictive healthcare system. © 2025 IEEE.

Remote sensing images present classification challenges due to the complexity of their structural and spatial patterns. This research explores a hybrid approach that combines convolutional neural network (CNN) and attention through feature fusion to improve scene classification accuracy in remote sensing images. The proposed architecture utilizes EfficientNet and VGGNet to extract depth features separately. The extracted features are then integrated with Dynamic Selfattention (DSA), which dynamically focuses the model on the most relevant information in the image. DSA allows the model to adaptively assign weights to different parts of the image, thus improving the discriminative ability of the model. Furthermore, a feature fusion technique is applied to combine information from different layers of the CNN and DSA modules. Experiments conducted on the UC Merced dataset showed accuracies of 0.9181 and 0.9167. These results show that the combination of CNN, DSA, and feature fusion is an effective and robust approach for remote sensing image classification. © 2025 IEEE.

EAFL: Edge-Assisted Federated Learning for real-time disease prediction using privacy-preserving AI

The growing demand for real-time disease prediction in healthcare necessitates advanced AI frameworks capable of ensuring both computational efficiency and patient privacy. This study introduces an Edge-Assisted Federated Learning (EAFL) system designed for real-time disease prediction while preserving sensitive data using privacy-preserving AI techniques. Leveraging lightweight convolutional neural networks and federated learning, the framework decentralizes model training across simulated edge nodes, reducing reliance on centralized data storage. Differential privacy mechanisms are integrated to secure inter-node communications, enhancing data protection. The proposed framework was evaluated on publicly available datasets, including CheXpert and COVID-19 radiography, achieving an accuracy of 94.2% and 97.5%, respectively, with minimal latency (0.85 s per prediction). Comparative analysis reveals that the EAFL system matches the performance of centralized AI models while significantly reducing privacy risks. To demonstrate scalability, additional evaluation was conducted across different dataset distributions, revealing consistent performance across varying data characteristics and medical scenarios. This research offers a scalable, privacy-focused solution that bridges the gap between real-time disease prediction and secure data handling, paving the way for its adoption in modern healthcare applications. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In the era of big data, with the increase in volume and complexity of data, the main challenge is how to use big data while preserving the privacy of users. This study was conducted with the aim of finding a solution to this challenge. In this study, we examined various data anonymization methods, including differential privacy, advanced encryption, and strong access controls. In addition, the operation, advantages, disadvantages, and use of these methods, the challenges of adapting these methods to big data, and possible solutions for them were also examined. Our results show that traditional data anonymization methods lack scalability, leading to privacy breaches and data loss. When faced with large volumes of data, these methods may not be able to fully process the data. Also, these methods may be ineffective against re-identification attacks, linkage attacks, and inference attacks. We introduced emerging methods that are capable of providing improved privacy with minimal data loss. These methods have scalability for big data. Representing a Model for the Anonymization of Big Data Stream Using In-Memory Processing

In light of the escalating privacy risks in the big data era, this paper introduces an innovative model for the anonymization of big data streams, leveraging in-memory processing within the Spark framework. The approach is founded on the principle of K-anonymity and propels the field forward by critically evaluating various anonymization methods and algorithms, benchmarking their performance with respect to time and space complexities. A distinctive formula for optimized cluster determination in the K-means algorithm is presented, along with a novel tuple expiration time strategy for the efficient purging of clusters. The integration of these components into Spark’s RDD and MLlib modules results in a significant decrease in execution time and data loss rates, even with increasing data volumes. The paper’s notable contributions are its methodological advancements that offer a robust, scalable solution for data anonymization, safeguarding user privacy without sacrificing data utility or processing efficiency. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

American Sign Language (ASL) recognition aims to recognize hand gestures, and it is a crucial solution to communicating between the deaf community and hearing people. However, existing sign language recognition algorithms still have some drawbacks, such as difficulty recognizing hand movements and low recognition accuracy for most sign language recognition. A Modified Convolutional Neural Network (MCNN) deep residual 101 classifier-based American Sign Language identification system has been developed to address this problem. There are three main parts presents in the method. The first part is pre-processing the images to remove the noise, enhance the contrast of the picture, adjust the contrast level and smoothen the picture using various filters. The second part is the segmentation, and it’s used to partition the image using a modified canny edge detection method by removing all weak edges present in the image. Finally, classification will be done using the Modified CNN deep residual 101 classifiers. By classifying the image, the American Sign Language is accurately identified. This process is conducted through images. The outcome shows that the suggested approach has a 0.97% accuracy and a 0.05% False Positive Rate. Other CNN architectures such as resNet 50 and resNet 18 reached 0.90% and 0.80% accuracy, respectively, which is lower than our proposed method. In addition, the resNet 101 classifier effectively recognizes the difficult hand gestures through the image data. It obtains high recognition accuracy for 36 signs is 0 to 9 numbers and a to z alphabets from American Sign Language. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.
