Representing a Model for the Anonymization of Big Data Stream Using In-Memory Processing

In light of the escalating privacy risks in the big data era, this paper introduces an innovative model for the anonymization of big data streams, leveraging in-memory processing within the Spark framework. The approach is founded on the principle of K-anonymity and propels the field forward by critically evaluating various anonymization methods and algorithms, benchmarking their performance with respect to time and space complexities. A distinctive formula for optimized cluster determination in the K-means algorithm is presented, along with a novel tuple expiration time strategy for the efficient purging of clusters. The integration of these components into Spark’s RDD and MLlib modules results in a significant decrease in execution time and data loss rates, even with increasing data volumes. The paper’s notable contributions are its methodological advancements that offer a robust, scalable solution for data anonymization, safeguarding user privacy without sacrificing data utility or processing efficiency. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

American Sign Language (ASL) recognition aims to recognize hand gestures, and it is a crucial solution to communicating between the deaf community and hearing people. However, existing sign language recognition algorithms still have some drawbacks, such as difficulty recognizing hand movements and low recognition accuracy for most sign language recognition. A Modified Convolutional Neural Network (MCNN) deep residual 101 classifier-based American Sign Language identification system has been developed to address this problem. There are three main parts presents in the method. The first part is pre-processing the images to remove the noise, enhance the contrast of the picture, adjust the contrast level and smoothen the picture using various filters. The second part is the segmentation, and it’s used to partition the image using a modified canny edge detection method by removing all weak edges present in the image. Finally, classification will be done using the Modified CNN deep residual 101 classifiers. By classifying the image, the American Sign Language is accurately identified. This process is conducted through images. The outcome shows that the suggested approach has a 0.97% accuracy and a 0.05% False Positive Rate. Other CNN architectures such as resNet 50 and resNet 18 reached 0.90% and 0.80% accuracy, respectively, which is lower than our proposed method. In addition, the resNet 101 classifier effectively recognizes the difficult hand gestures through the image data. It obtains high recognition accuracy for 36 signs is 0 to 9 numbers and a to z alphabets from American Sign Language. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Cloud computing is an emerging field in information technology, enabling users to access a shared pool of computing resources. Despite its potential, cloud technology presents various challenges, with one of the most significant being resource management within the cloud environment. Specifically, the allocation of physical machines (PMs) to virtual machines (VMs) in the Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) layer aims to achieve optimal efficiency. To address this challenge, we propose an evolutionary recurrent neural network (RNN) for resource allocation, enhanced by the equilibrium optimization (EO) algorithm. This method improves the generalization performance and reduces the architecture complexity of RNNs, while ensuring better adaptability to various demand patterns in cloud environments. Additionally, the effectiveness of RNNs heavily relies on the quality of training data;hence, we generate appropriate training data to facilitate the development of an efficient resource management model. Through extensive simulations, our method demonstrates superior performance compared to traditional algorithms. However, it is worth noting that this study is primarily based on simulation results, highlighting the need for real-world validation to confirm its practical applicability. The proposed method's applicability to different cloud computing environments and scenarios, including various service models (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS) and deployment models (public, private, and hybrid), is also briefly discussed. Future studies should explore the computational efficiency and potential optimization techniques of the EO-RNN approach and consider real-world implementations to validate its effectiveness and uncover practical challenges. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

This paper presents the initial foundations of a new Global approach to Artificial Intelligence based on the modeling of global intelligence and the development of artificial cooperative systems to support this. The research work brings numerous investigations and some of our most recent creations to develop intelligent systems in urgent global, cooperative domains. The investigations present an overall view of current issues like true natural i.e. global intelligence. The creations include several results in global solutions explorations as well as new models, services, architectures and processes which could be of special interest for global organizations that urgently need to achieve intelligent cooperation. The major aim of the approach is to help these organizations, and other related institutions, to succeed in their complex daily duties where true thinking, more natural intelligence and new global artificial systems are required. Further, the paper provides some guidelines for the next evolutions of the work in the form of a brief, open research agenda and, some general actions for deploying Global Artificial Intelligence into our organizations, suggesting how to build new global artificial intelligent systems in real and virtual ecosystems. © 2013 IEEE.

This study proposes an innovative diabetes prediction chatbot that utilizes large language models (LLMs) to determine the likelihood of diabetes based on specific patient inputs. Unlike conventional machine learning models and in addition to providing precise, individualized, robust prediction of diabetes augmented by the percentage of its confidence, this chatbot provides detailed text-based explanations for its individual predictions and enhances user’s understanding by retrieving and presenting similar cases using case-based reasoning techniques. Utilizing key health indicators such as hypertension status, heart disease presence, smoking history, BMI, HbA1c level, and blood glucose levels, the chatbot not only predicts the presence of diabetes but also educates users about the underlying reasons for each prediction. The system's explanation module promotes transparency and trust in the predictive process. The proposed architecture integrates the retrieval augmented generation (RAG) technique with prompt engineering across multiple LLMs, including Llama 3.1, GPT-3.5, and Gemma2. This approach augments the chatbot’s responses with contextually relevant data from similar past cases, thereby enhancing both relevance and accuracy. Furthermore, RAG minimizes LLM hallucinations while enhancing them with up-to-date, precise, personalized medical information. The objective of this chatbot is to offer healthcare professionals and patients a dependable, educational instrument for early detection of diabetes supported by transparent AI principles. This will have a positive effect on preventative healthcare measures. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper examines the escalating ransomware threats faced by government-managed educational institutions, focusing on their vulnerabilities, case studies, and mitigation strategies. With the adoption of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies, schools increasingly expose their networks to cyber risks, making them attractive targets for cybercriminals. Case studies, including attacks on the Los Angeles Unified School District and the University of California, San Francisco, illustrate the profound impact of ransomware incidents and the diverse responses of institutions. Effective cybersecurity measures are crucial, emphasizing the need for prioritized spending, comprehensive security training, and advanced detection and response strategies. The role of government is also vital, as it develops legislation, guidelines, and funding opportunities to enhance educational cybersecurity. Recommendations include technical measures to secure networks and collaborative educational initiatives to share best practices. Ultimately, this research study underscores the necessity of continuous adaptation and government support in fortifying defences against ransomware threats. Corrosion poses a significant challenge in industries due to material degradation and high maintenance costs, making effective inhibitors essential. Recent studies suggest expired pharmaceuticals as alternative corrosion inhibitors, but identifying the most efficient compounds can be time-consuming. This study applies machine learning models, particularly Gradient Boosting Regressor (GBR), to predict corrosion inhibition efficiency (CIE). The developed model is integrated into a web-based application, enabling real-time, accurate CIE predictions. Results show GBR as the more precise model for predicting CIE, with low error rates. The streamlit-based web application offers a user-friendly platform, facilitating quick identification of suitable inhibitors. It is flexible, supporting analysis beyond corrosion inhibitors, and significantly enhances the efficiency of the evaluation process. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

DeepLeaf: an optimized deep learning approach for automated recognition of grapevine leaf diseases

Plant diseases can cause severe losses in agricultural production, impacting food security and safety. Early detection of plant diseases is crucial to minimize crop damage and ensure agricultural sustainability. Manual monitoring is often impractical due to the complexity and time involved, making automated disease recognition essential. This study presents a new Plant Disease Detection Algorithm (PDDA) called DeepLeaf focused on identifying four common grapevine diseases: leaf blight, black rot, stable, and black measles. The PDDA integrates three key modules: an Image Preprocessing Module, a Feature Extraction Module, and an Optimized Convolutional Neural Network (OCNN)-based Classification Module. The OCNN forms the core of the classification system, with its hyperparameters fine-tuned using fuzzy optimization to enhance performance. Preprocessing techniques are applied to analyze diseased leaves, and a logistic regression algorithm is used to downsample the features for better analysis. The CNN is trained on images from the Plant Village dataset, allowing it to detect and classify grapevine leaf diseases accurately. The proposed model's efficiency in the automated diagnosis of grapevine diseases is demonstrated by its remarkable 99.7% accuracy rate. This high accuracy indicates that the PDDA may help with more effective and scalable plant disease monitoring, which will ultimately allow better agricultural practices. © The Author(s) 2025.

Chest x-ray studies can be automatically detected and their locations located using artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare. To detect the location of findings, additional annotation in the form of bounding boxes is required, rather than image-level labeling. Accurate interpretation of chest radiographs is essential for diagnosing thoracic abnormalities. This paper introduces a novel method for abnormality detection in chest radiographs using the VinDr-CXR dataset. Labeled training sets are improved by incorporating data augmentation and advanced pre-processing techniques. To improve the accuracy of anomaly identification, the study makes use of ensemble object detection models, such as the modified weighted boxes fusion (iWBFCxr) technique. With an average precision (AP) of 0.2434 for class 14, experimental results on the VinDr-CXR dataset show an overall mean average precision (mAP) of 0.2791. The iWBFCxr approach, when combined with ensemble predictions, has the potential to improve abnormality localization. By integrating enhanced label merging with ensemble object detection models, our method improves abnormality localization in chest radiographs significantly, improving thoracic abnormality diagnosis accuracy and possibly leading to new medical interventions. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

Multiple antennas at transmitter and receiver have significantly improved the performance of wireless communications systems. Traditionally, space-time coding, beamforming, or spatial multiplexing are applied to achieve diversity, SNR, and multiplexing gains, respectively. A different concept is pursued with Generalized Spatial Modulation (GSM). It conveys information through the selection of active antennas from a set of available antennas in addition to the transmission of conventional modulation symbols. This results in sparse transmit vectors, and detection algorithms known from compressed sensing can be applied. In this paper, Vector Approximate Message Passing (VAMP) is considered for the detection of GSM signals in massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems. Its performance is improved by introducing structured redundancy in space or in time. In order to exploit this redundancy, the VAMP algorithm has to be extended by an additional graph layer. The resulting performance is evaluated by analyzing the error rates and the throughput obtained from Monte Carlo simulations. © 2025 IEEE.
