Face recognition technology, a subset of biometric technology, has emerged as a crucial and revolutionary tool in various industries, including identity verification, security, and surveillance. In this study, face recognition technology has been employed to enhance the student attendance system at the faculty of computer science and information technology (FSKTM). The current attendance recording method, which requires students to scan a QR code during teaching and learning sessions, presents several challenges. It is time-consuming, prone to inaccuracies, and susceptible to misuse, such as remote attendance recording and QR code sharing, which can lead to errors and class disruptions. To address these issues, the Student Face Recognition Attendance System was developed to ensure attendance is recorded accurately, efficiently, and with integrity. The system incorporates three user roles, which are administrator, students, and lecturer, and focuses on managing student attendance data within educational institutions. Prototyping software process model was adopted for this project, emphasizing iterative development through phases including requirement gathering, quick decision-making, building and refining a prototype, user evaluation, and final product development. The system was developed using a combination of OpenCV and software such as PyCharm and Firebase, with Python as the programming language. This system is expected to significantly reduce the time required for attendance recording while minimizing errors, thereby improving the overall efficiency and reliability of the attendance process. © 2024 IEEE.

Copy-move forgery (CMF) is an image manipulation in which a component of the image is copied and pasted onto another portion, usually to hide undesirable aspects of the image. The objective of copy-move forgery detection (CMFD) is to identify image regions that are identical or very similar. However, the tampered region in copy-move forgery is difficult to identify because the forge image appears to be identical from the original. In this research, Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) which is a block based method, will be evaluated using F-measure metric to spot forged region on images with JPEG compression and brightness changes attack. To represent both attacks, this research used ten images in two available datasets which are CoMoFoD and GRIP datasets. These two attacks will be applied in image using GIMP editing software to three different parameters on compression quality and brightness manipulation. Experiments for this research were conducted using MATLAB. The results show that DCT-based copy-move forgery detection is able to detect at least 93% score for 90% compression quality but decreased to 88% for 70% quality. Meanwhile for brightness changes, DCT-based can detect at least 93% for (0.01,0.95) but decreased to 92% for (0.01,0.80) parameter. © 2024 IEEE.

In this study, we surveyed the existing information security literature related to the Quran to contribute to the knowledge gap(s) in seeking the role of information security in the Quran research area. Materials published in English were located between January 2019 and February 2024 by searching various academic databases, including Google Scholar, IEEEXplore, ACM Digital Library, Springer and scienceDirect. Thirty-two publications were collected and classified into ten domains of information security Common Body of Knowledge to identify the research trends. The results show that Domain 3 (Cryptography and Digital Watermarking) is the most studied area, followed by Domain 2 (Ethical and Legal Issues) with eight publications and Domain 5 (Access Control) with three publications. Other domains consist of only 1 or 2 publications each. Our observation also showed that three recurring themes of studies that are the implementation of information security techniques to preserve digital Quran authenticity, the association of Quran verses in supporting information security approaches;and the development of information security techniques from the Quran epistemology. Overall, exploring the research trends and interconnected areas could lead to advancements in information security practices and Quranic studies, fostering how traditional wisdom influences modern technologies. © 2024 IEEE.

One paradigm for machine learning that is transforming is reinforcement learning, or RL, promising significant healthcare improvements through personalized treatment recommendations, optimized resource allocation, and enhanced predictive modeling. Despite these successes, challenges such as model interpretability and real-world integration persist. This paper reviews various optimization techniques employed in RL, focusing on Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) due to its stability, efficiency, and applicability in healthcare. Applications of PPO include adaptive treatment strategies, personalized medication management, and optimized clinical workflows. Additionally, the paper discusses case studies demonstrating RL's potential to reduce medication errors, enhance treatment protocols, predict adverse events, and personalize radiation therapy. A comprehensive database search initially retrieved 708 articles;after removing duplicates and screening based on titles and abstracts, 23 articles were considered, ultimately narrowing down to 15 articles following the application of exclusion criteria. The findings demonstrate RL's significant impact on healthcare, enhancing treatment effectiveness, optimizing service selection, and improving patient care through advanced techniques like Deep RL and multi-agent systems. Future research should focus on developing sophisticated adaptive treatment models and validating RL applications through clinical trials, underscoring RL's potential to revolutionize healthcare by making it more effective, efficient, and patient centric. © 2024 IEEE.

Industrial networks are frequently utilized for safety-critical applications that demand real-time requirements. Message scheduling or timestamp is typically a key component of such applications, which are typically time-triggered. Timestamps at each party in quantum communication must be synchronized or share a common understanding of time for secure communication. Clock synchronization is thus a key component of real-time networks. Despite the benefits of time synchronization, enforcing clock synchronization on behalf of several quantum channel parties and preventing attacks from an adversary is still tricky. This paper identifies a possible attack on time synchronization and a way to solve the aforementioned issues. Therefore, we need a protocol that establishes a secure environment in terms of security with time synchronization so that various parties may freely and openly communicate. This paper also addresses significant research gaps in time synchronization and how it might be realized and applied to quantum communication. These include recommendations for new directions to be taken based on existing protocols. © 2024 ACM.

The quantity of urban solid waste continuously increases every year due to a number of variables, including population growth, financial situation, and consumption patterns,. A critical concern for controlling MSW is the lack of basic garbage statistics. To anticipate the total mass of residential trash produced in Multan, Pakistan is the main goal of this study. In the Multan city, 1,901,128 tons of MSW are anticipated to be produced between 2023 and 2027. By utilising machine learning techniques, a particular model has been developed to calculate the overall waste generated quantity for each year. To calculate the quantity of trash generated, the ARIMA and Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) techniques have been used. In a comparison of the two models, XGBoost outperformed. As a result, the XGBoost’s parameters have been adjusted to produce the best results. The hyperparameters that have tweaked into the XGBoost produced the optimum outcomes, with an R2 coefficient of 0.86 and an RMSE of 736.27. The decision-makers could process and dispose of solid waste more effectively by using the predicted MSW weight. The findings show that a hypertuned XGBoost regressor is the best model, outperforming rest of the candidate models with respect to information criteria, and modified determination coefficient, hence can be used to anticipate the amount of waste generated through the year 2027. This study is intended to assist the Multan Municipal Waste company in designing and planning an efficient waste management system. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The automatic localization of the left ventricle(LV)in short-axis magnetic resonance(MR)images is a required step to process cardiac images using convolutional neural networks for the extraction of a region of interest(ROI).The precise extraction of the LV’s ROI from cardiac MRI images is crucial for detecting heart disorders via cardiac segmentation or ***,this task appears to be intricate due to the diversities in the size and shape of the LV and the scattering of surrounding tissues across different ***,this study proposed a region-based convolutional network(Faster R-CNN)for the LV localization from short-axis cardiac MRI images using a region proposal network(RPN)integrated with deep feature classification and *** was trained using images with corresponding bounding boxes(labels)around the LV,and various experiments were applied to select the appropriate layers and set the suitable *** experimental findings showthat the proposed modelwas adequate,with accuracy,precision,recall,and F1 score values of 0.91,0.94,0.95,and 0.95,*** model also allows the cropping of the detected area of LV,which is vital in reducing the computational cost and time during segmentation and classification ***,itwould be an ideal model and clinically applicable for diagnosing cardiac diseases.

The increased adoption of Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) technologies has resulted in the widespread use ofBody Area Networks (BANs) in medical and non-medical domains. However, the performance of IEEE 802.15.4-based BANs is impacted by challenges related to heterogeneous data traffic requirements among nodes, includingcontention during finite backoff periods, association delays, and traffic channel access through clear channelassessment (CCA) algorithms. These challenges lead to increased packet collisions, queuing delays, retransmissions,and the neglect of critical traffic, thereby hindering performance indicators such as throughput, packet deliveryratio, packet drop rate, and packet delay. Therefore, we propose Dynamic Next Backoff Period and Clear ChannelAssessment (DNBP-CCA) schemes to address these issues. The DNBP-CCA schemes leverage a combination ofthe Dynamic Next Backoff Period (DNBP) scheme and the Dynamic Next Clear Channel Assessment (DNCCA)scheme. The DNBP scheme employs a fuzzy Takagi, Sugeno, and Kang (TSK) model’s inference system toquantitatively analyze backoff exponent, channel clearance, collision ratio, and data rate as input parameters. Onthe other hand, the DNCCA scheme dynamically adapts the CCA process based on requested data transmission tothe coordinator, considering input parameters such as buffer status ratio and acknowledgement ratio. As a result,simulations demonstrate that our proposed schemes are better than some existing representative approaches andenhance data transmission, reduce node collisions, improve average throughput, and packet delivery ratio, anddecrease average packet drop rate and packet delay.

Pro Eduelite Tuition Centre is a private learning institution for students. The issues of the tuition center management are caused by the weakness of the current method that is using the semi-computerized process to manage administrative work. Therefore, due to this issue, the Pro Eduelite Tuition Centre management system is proposed to assist the management activities by using a web-based approach. The user of this system consists of the manager, administrators, tutors, and parents. The system accepts registration of students, tutors, and staff, update of payment, update of class scheduling, report management, and others. The system development implements the software process model of system prototyping. It is developed by using Visual Studio Code and phpMyAdmin as the database system. The system is expected to reduce the workload of users when dealing with the involved task and contribute to the management activities. Lastly, testing is performed to validate and verify that the system meets the users' needs and follows the stated requirement. © 2022 IEEE.
