A mobile wireless sensor network works such as those used in vehicle ad hoc networks differs from a static wireless sensor network in that the nodes are not affix to one singular location but can traverse within the set range within the network. This dynamically changing network topology poses a challenge where the connections between network nodes are not constant and thus require a more sophisticated approach in ensuring constant communication uptime within the network. Fuzzy Logic Based Vehicle Ad Hoc Network (FBVANET) proposes using fuzzy logic to measure arbitrary values instead of Boolean values to determine the best route for data packet transmission based on link stability rate between nodes. This approach however creates a bottleneck problem in the network as the ideal routes will be the ones with the highest stability rate. The preliminary study on the Improved FBVANET Based on Hierarchical Stability Rate proposes routing data traffic through these stable links based on hierarchical stability rate, where if a network congestion occurs on the link with the highest stability rate, the network will open an alternate path based on the second highest, then third, and so on until the network congestion recedes, where it will then close off the alternate routing paths from least stable to most stable link. Comparison studies conducted shows a positive improvement to the overall throughput of a network when introduced with a network congestion system, in turn supporting the hypothesis. In conclusion, a network congestion system based on hierarchical stability rate can provide a major boost to the FBVANET's overall throughput and performance with reduced packet loss incidences. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents measurements of the reflection and transmission coefficient of electromagnetic waves through concrete and two concrete-based composites: concrete with steel fibers and concrete with carbon fibers with the aim of enhancing the attenuation of electromagnetic waves passing through concrete and concrete composites. The frequency range for which the measurements were carried out extends from 30 MHz to 18 GHz and includes most of the existing stationary (and mobile) radiation EM sources in the environment in which the general population moves (FM, DVBT2, 2G - 5G mobile radio systems, stationary radar border area control systems). The measurement results show that as the thickness of the concrete increases, the transmission through concrete and concrete composites decreases (parameter S12 decreases). Furthermore, composites with carbon fibers partially reduce, while those with steel fibers significantly reduce, the transmission of EM waves through such composites. The reduction of parameter S12 by composites with steel is up to 52 dB (at a frequency of 2.9 GHz) for a block thickness of 100 mm. It is important to emphasize that in the case of composites with steel fibers, the influence of the fibers on the transmission parameters is more significant than the thickness of the sample. The reason for this is the increase in electrical conductivity of composites with steel fibers due to the increased proportion of conductive components in the concrete. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

To address the growing demand for internet usage and connected devices, it is essential to implement robust Network Traffic Classification (NTC) methods that guarantee network security and optimised resource utilisation. Deep learning approaches are continuously gaining traction due to their capabilities in learning complex network traffic patterns and effective classification. However, the performance of deep learning (DL) approaches comes with the cost of huge computational resources that struggle to perform under a resource-constrained environment. Therefore, this study proposes enhancing DL-based NTC by integrating an Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) technique, the Shapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP), to identify and select the most important features. This study leverages the explainability of XAI to enhance model performance and optimise resource utilisation through feature selection. To evaluate the selected features, this paper compares three algorithms, which are Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), and Gated Recurrent Units (GRU), using the ISCXVPN2016 dataset on an NVIDIA Tesla T4. The result shows a 12.42%, 10.72%, and 10.23% decrease in RAM usage for MLP, CNN, and GRU, respectively, while reducing the GPU memory usage by 6% and an improvement up to 4.99% F1-score compared to the state-of-the-art. ©2024 IEEE.

This paper deals with the simulation calculation of transmission (S21) and reflection (S22) parameters in a material parametrically based on clay (brick). The electromagnetic parameters of the clay that are the subject of the study are: relative permittivity Εr, loss tangent tan δ and electrical conductivity σ, while the only structural parameter is the thickness d of the sample. The values of all considered parameters are within the range of data from available literature and values that could occur due to external causes (e. g. an increase in clay moisture leads to an increase in electrical conductivity). The simulation model was carried out with the software tool ANSYS HFSS and validated with a laboratory measurement model. The laboratory model consists of a circular waveguide with an inner diameter of 150 mm and a total length of 700 mm, which is excited by 52 mm long probes placed 50 mm from the last wall of the waveguide. The lower cut-off frequency of this measurement system is 1.173 GHz, so all results (simulation and measurement) are limited by this lower cut-off frequency of the waveguide. All simulation calculations were performed for three clay sample thicknesses: 18 mm, 36 mm and 54 mm. These calculations were made with the aim of determining brick composites that have high attenuation of electromagnetic EM waves (low transmission parameter and high reflection parameter) in order to reduce the strength of EM fields inside the object made of such bricks. This research proposes a hybrid approach for a procedural level generation for our 2D platformer game. The method integrates manual level creation and procedural algorithm to generate a complete level for 2D rouge-like platformer game including the overall structure of the level, corridors, enemies, obstacles, and items. The proposed method also allowed user-input parameters that define requirement for the level such as difficulty, room numbers, enemy and item spawn probability. We developed the proposed method and implemented the system in our game, Lost Labyrinth Rouge's Odyssey. We implemented the system specifically to fit the mechanic and rules of our game. To test the performance of the system to develop a level, we performed a usability test by inviting users to play the game multiple times. The result and feedback from the respondents show that most the system was able to generate a good playability for a 2D platformer dungeon game. © 2024 IEEE.

Ensuring color accuracy is essential when processing underwater images of coral reefs. These images often suffer from color distortion and blurring due to absorption and scattering. Current trends in underwater color correction focus on mitigating these distortions, as well as addressing non-uniform illumination that leads to artifacts and reduced visibility and contrast. Effective techniques include color compensation for the red channel alone or both the red and blue channels simultaneously. On the color compensated image, the Grayworld and CLAHE methods were applied to compare the results. Evaluations using PSNR, UCIQE, and UIQM metrics confirm that such color compensation techniques significantly enhance the quality of underwater images. It was found that grayworld is able to restore the original color for greenish and yellowish images, while CLAHE can improve dull images. © 2024 IEEE.

Career site pages contain valuable information for job seekers, but effectively classifying these pages into relevant categories remains a challenge. This study aims to develop a classification system for career website pages using the Harmony Search algorithm, enhanced by a Focused Web Crawler for data collection. The Focused Web Crawler extracts relevant job tags and features from career site pages, which are then used as training data for the classification algorithm. Experiments were conducted with various parameters, including job tags, the number of features (50), and Harmony Search algorithm settings. The results show that with 500 web pages and optimized algorithm parameters, the system achieved a classification accuracy of up to 95%. The system outperforms alternative parameter configurations, demonstrating that the combination of 50 features and specific Harmony Search parameters, such as HMCR and PAR set at 0.5, leads to the best performance. This system can assist users in efficiently finding job information tailored to their needs and skills. Moreover, it serves as a reference for future classification systems using similar techniques and algorithms. © 2024 IEEE.

Pineapple (Ananas Comocus L) thrive in tropical and subtropical regions. Pineapples are characterized by their unique traits, including a firm texture and richness in Vitamin C. Pineapple belong to the Non-Climacteric fruit category, and currently, the maturity classification process for pineapples heavily relies on human visual analysis. Human psychological factors can influence the classification results, potentially leading to errors. The main objective of this research is to classify the ripeness level of pineapple based on color, encompassing ripe, semi-ripe, and unripe categories. The aim to provide a more accurate and reliable automated solution in the classification process, utilizing, with the VGG16 model as a tool. A total of 598 data points were used for the training phase, while 40 data points were used for testing. The results showed and accuracy rate 95%, with precision at around 93%, a recall of 93%, and an F1 score reaching 93%. From these findings, it can be concluded that the Convolutional Neural Network method with the VGG16 model is capable of accurately classifying the ripeness of pineapple based on color. © 2024 IEEE.

Understanding customer is crucial for marketing strategies and increasing customer satisfaction in today's business environment. One method to fulfill of marketing strategies is segment customer based on their purchasing habits and demographic characteristics. This study describes a complete approach to customer segmentation based on K-means clustering, an unsupervised machine learning algorithm. There are three stages namely preprocessing to select feature and variable is used to develop clustering model, clustering model implementation, and validation of model. There are four clusters that compare the relationship of marital status and recency to the grocery purchases (product) made by each customer to find out which ingredients we will use to make better products for customers. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

The role of automatic generated playlists and recommendations in music streaming services has played a significant role in driving the steady growth of the music industry since 2015. With the evolving landscape of music, Music Emotion Recognition (MER) has gained importance in this era. Contemporary solutions today focus solely on four emotions and popular music genres, neglecting emerging styles and artistes where their music evokes a danceable rhythm, but lyrics convey negativity. This study considers both lyrics and audio features for the classification of eight emotions with the aim to identify key features influencing music emotion, develop a classification model and evaluate its performance. A dataset was created by expanding a base dataset with additional lyrics and audio features from Genius and Spotify API respectively. This study employs established algorithms like K-Nearest Neighbours (KNN), Decision Trees (DT), and Random Forests (RF), with Random Forests emerging with a notable 73% accuracy. A web application named Emotion was developed, allowing data scientists and music researchers to explore the dataset and access details of this study. This study's impact extends to various applications, including mental health and media, enabling tailored music-based interventions for emotional well-being, and improving music selection in media and entertainment. © 2024 IEEE.
