This paper proposes a methodology for solving a double problem. On the one side, it is considered the construction of a Petri net model of a system using data recovered from its behaviour. On the other side, this model should have the capacity of reconfiguration, in order to be able to modify substantially its behaviour depending on its learning experiences. As an open research line related with this methodology, an application on the biological behaviour of neural systems is envisaged.

Malaysia experienced flood on a regular basis due to the geographical location of the country and the improper development of its cities. Based on this situation, it is recognized that Malaysia have to establish an effective flood management (FM) practice in order to reduce the impact caused by flood. This article seeks to examine the proper governance framework needed in managing flood. The aim of this paper is to, namely: identify the current governance structure in several selected countries and identify the challenges associated with the structure. Results from this comparative study will be used in recommending the best form of a FM framework.

The aim of this paper is to analyze efficiency of three classifiers which will be experimented and compared to find out the best techniques. They were experimented on a standard database of handwritten digit. However, not only recognition rate is considered, but also other issues (ex. error rate, misclassified image rate and computing time) will be analyzed. The presented results show that SVM is the best classifier to recognize handwritten digits. That is, the highest recognition rates (96.93%) are obtained. But the computing time of training is the main problem for them. Conversely, other methods, like neural networks, give insignificantly worse results, but their training is much quicker. However, all of the techniques also represent an error rate of 1-4% because of confusionwithdigits 1 and 7 or 3, 5 and 8 respectively. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

In the paper, we consider a fractional continuous Fornasini-Marchesini problem. We characterize functions of two variables possessing a mixed fractional partial derivative which involves the proposed model of Fornasini-Marchesini. The main results are theorems on the existence and continuous dependence of solutions on controls for the aforementioned system. © VDE VERLAG GMBH 2013.

Building detection is a beneficial task that can be utilized to various kinds of application, such as disaster management, military application, and traffic planning. With this reason, an automatic building detection based on texture analysis and color segmentation is proposed in this paper. The proposed technique can be divided into three main steps. Firstly, in a preprocessing step, all color images were improved by filtering, color segmenting, and adjusting contrast with histogram. Then, in the feature extraction step, Gray-Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) and Single Value Decomposition (SVD) were applied into the enhanced image to extract features. Lastly, all derived features were fed to neural classifier based on multilayer perceptron (MLP) to detect building objects. Results showed that the proposed method outperformed the compared method. It can efficiently detect building objects containing several shades of colors, can differentiate the closed building objects, and can distinguish the difference between building objects and other similar areas, while the method based on morphological operation produces many incorrect detected buildings. Additionally, the proposed method can achieve high performance values in accuracy, recall, precision, and F-measure. In addition, the proposed method has shown that it can be used as an efficient way for autonomic building detection. ©2013 IEEE.

Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is a mutually communication based on a dispersed administration. It has a dynamic topology and there is not any central point for network management. The dynamic topology character of MANET has caused it vulnerable and defenseless to different security attacks. In this paper we study the effects of Wormhole attack on MANET using both Proactive routing protocol (OLSR) and Reactive routing protocol (AODV). The purpose of this study is to find which protocol is more vulnerable to the wormhole attack. The OPNET simulation results show the throughput, end-to-end delay, network load and traffic received with Wormhole and without Wormhole on AODV and OLSR in MANET. The results show that AODV is more vulnerable to wormhole attack compared to OLSR. Therefore, the application of MANET that uses proactive routing protocol is more trusted compared to the reactive one. © 2012 IEEE.

One way to eliminate the fear of grammar lesson is by using language games. Language games are important to create excitement in language lessons. This session reports on a study that aimed to explore the benefits of using board game to teach grammar. The study was carried out among Pre TESL students of UiTM Pahang, Kuantan Campus. The data from the study were analyzed by using frequency table, bar charts and Independent T-Test. The session will present the overall results of the study, revealing the beneficial effects of using board game in teaching grammar.
