We propose a new method for Indonesian medicinal plants identification using combination of some leaf features, i.e. texture, shape, and color. Local Binary Pattern Variance (LBPV) is used to extract leaf texture, morphological feature is used to extract leaf shape, and color moment is used to extract leaf color distribution. In the experiment we used 51 species of Indonesian medicinal plants and each species consists of 48 images, so the total images used in this research are 2,448 images. Combination of leaf feature is done using Product Decision Rule (PDR) and classification of medicinal plants is done using Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN). The experimental results show that the combination of the morphological, LBPV, and color moments features can improve the accuracy of medicinal plants identification. This research is important to enhance utilization of Indonesian medicinal plants.

In decision making problems, experts need to assess a number of values in a side of reference domain higher than in the other one,that is, experts use unbalanced linguistic values to express their evaluation for problems. In this paper, we propose a new linguistic aggregation operator to deal with unbalanced linguistic values in group decision making. Based on 2-tuple representation model of linguistic values and linguistic hierarchies, we express unbalanced linguistic values. Moreover, we present the unbalanced linguistic ordered weighted geometric operator to aggregate unbalanced linguistic evaluation values. Some properties of the unbalanced linguistic ordered weighted geometric operator are also obtained. An illustration example shows the proposed approach seems more effective for linguistic group decision making problem.

This article introduces a solution for job division of load balancing between a given number of nodes. Distributed system suffers from performance degradation and poor scalability caused by uneven load distributions typical in realworld applications. The reason for this is due to the lack of load balancing solution. Job divisions can help to improve load balancing and cost communication. We introduce a description of the MESH mathematical model problem and give a suitable solution. Our solution is supported by an implementation of Java program that gives a mathematical idea about how it works. © 2011 IEEE.

Automatic heart beats classification has attracted much interest for research recently and we are interested to determine the type of arrhythmia from electrocardiogram (ECG) signal automatically. This paper will discuss a new extension of GLVQ that employ fuzzy logic concept as the discriminant function in order to develop a robust algorithm and improve the classification performance. The overall classification system is comprised of three components including data preprocessing, feature extraction and classification. Data preprocessing related to how the initial data prepared, in this case, we cut the signal beat by beat using R peak as pivot point, while for the feature extraction, we used wavelet algorithm. The ECG signals were obtained from MIT-BIH arrhythmia database. Our experiment showed that our proposed method, FN-GLVQ, was able to increase the accuracy of classifier compared with original GLVQ that used euclidean distance. By using 10-Fold Cross Validation, the algorithm produced an average accuracy 93.36% and 95.52%, respectively for GLVQ and FNGLVQ. © 2011 Universitas Indonesia.

The electrocardiogram (ECG) plays an important role in monitoring and preventing heart attacks. In this paper, we propose and compare the use of Daubechies WT (Daubechies Wavelet Transformation), Kernel PCA (Principal Component Analysis), and PCA as feature extraction methods in improving arrhythmia signals classification. The Kernel PCA employs linear, polynomial, and Gaussian kernels. We examine Support Vector Machines (SVM) pattern classifier with various kernels including wavelet, linear, Gaussian and polynomial. The ECG signals are obtained from MIT-BIH arrhythmia database. The task is to classify or distinguish four different arrhythmias from normal ECG. The overall classification system is comprised of three components including data preprocessing, feature extraction and classification. In data preprocessing which depends on how the initial data is prepared, we reduce the baseline noise with cubic spline and cut the signal beat by beat using pivot R peak. Finally, ECG signal is classified by SVM using various kernels, our experimental results show that wavelet gives better results compared to other feature extraction methods. The accuracy of Wavelet Daubechies for feature extraction is 100% and the best kernel function for the SVM classification is Linier kernel and wavelet kernel. © 2011 IEEE.

Software integration in distributed architecture plays an important role to improve software quality. Engineers often face challenges coming from connectors. Especially, design of connectors in a distributed system encounters more design issues such as: i) how to fulfil the functional and quality requirements of connectors in distributed system;ii) how do multiple technologies combine together to resolve design issues of connectors. In order to design connectors in distributed software, this paper proposes a design model by using ADD methods. And then we give an example of MVC architecture for presenting how to instantiate that model based on ADD design method.

With the unprecedented growing of outsourcing ICT projects by the Iranian government, there is a critical need for proper execution and monitoring of these projects. It is proposed that a web-based project management system be put in place to improve efficiency and effectiveness of management processes and speed up decision making. Based on the information flow between various units involved in the complete life-cycle of ICT project management, a functional model and system architecture with various underlying structures has been designed. The functional model contains two sub-systems: process management and information service. The proposed system structure is based on a four-layer client-server computing model. As a part of any publically available ICT system through the Internet, it has to be made secure and protected against all sorts of cybercrime. It is envisaged that this system can bring efficiency in managing the projects as well as improve decision making and increase the overall management process with total accounting and management transparency. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper presents the design and development of an online monitoring system that collects data over time or distance with a built-in instrument or sensors. Currently, an online data collection system (Vehicle Data logger) from general vehicle is not available in the market. Only the vehicles' manufacturers have the tool to access the engine ECU to monitor the vehicle's data. Current available automotives meter are display an estimated but inaccurate speed, engine revolution, fuel and temperature data. This project is developed to record the speed of vehicle, engine revolution (rpm), engine temperature, fuel volume and distance parameters. The software design of V-model has been developed to implement a sophisticated data viewing methods. The program utilized new framework based on track segmenting to better organize data, instantly provides summaries of segment data and attempts to better display the driving performance. The characteristic of fuel sender (to determine fuel volume in Litre) and temperature sender (to determine engine temperature in Celsius) is downloaded to EEPROM. All the recorded information are saved in RAM of the microcontroller, which can be reset after load the information to the (personal computer) PC using UART communication with Keyword 2000 protocol. All the measurements were carried out on selected road track as the field test of total trips about 3 kilometers. The recorded data have been analyzed and validated using an external (Global Positioning System) GPS navigator.

The process of introducing emotion can be improved through three-dimensional (3D) tutoring system. The problem that still not solved is how to provide realistic tutor (avatar) in virtual environment. This paper propose an approach to teach children on understanding emotion sensation through facial expression and sense of touch (haptic).The algorithm is created by calculating constant factor (f) based on maximum value of RGB and magnitude force then magnitude force range will be associated into particular colour. The Integration process will be started from rendering the facial expression then followed by adjusting the vibration power to emotion value. The result that achieved on experiment, it show around 71% students agree with the classification of magnitude force into emotion representation. Respondents commented that high magnitude force create similar sensation when respondents feel anger, while low magnitude force is more relaxing to respondents. Respondents also said that haptic and facial expression is very interactive and realistic.
