This study characterizes distributed XML processing on networking nodes. XML documents are sent from a client node to a server node through relay nodes, which process the documents before arriving at the server. When the relay nodes are connected tandem, the XML documents are processed in a pipelining manner. When the relay nodes are connected parallel, the XML documents are processed in a parallel fashion. Well-formedness and grammar validation pipelining and parallel processing characterization reveals inherent advantages of the parallel processing model.

In grid computing environments, a resource control that considers not only the ability of computer resources but also available network resources is needed in order to execute parallel and distributed processing effectively. In particular, the execution performance of a grid application will sometimes decrease due to the congestion caused by multiple flows running on the same network path. Therefore, a network control scheme in grid computing environments should consider the multiple flows generated from its own application as well as from other applications. In this paper, we propose and evaluate its effect of a priority control scheme for multiple flows that are generated simultaneously, in order to reduce the execution time of the grid applications without reserving network resources. Moreover, a method for improving the effect of the priority control by using path selection is discussed, which distinguishes the priority flows from the other flows.

Particle Swarm Optimisation (PSO) algorithm is known to be better than Genetic Algorithm (GA) as fewer operators are needed in its algorithm. However, it still has some weaknesses such as immature convergence; a condition whereby PSO tends to get trapped in a local optimum. This condition prevents them from being converged towards a better position. Various techniques have been proposed to tackle this problem by many means. This paper attempts to integrate several velocity-based reinitialisation (VBR) approaches in PSO for solving feature selection problem. Five benchmark datasets of various features dimension were used to implement the approaches. The results were analysed based on classifier performance and the selected number of features. The findings show that the proposed VBR is generally significantly better than the existing VBR approaches.

This paper describes the CDRAS (Call Detail Records Analysis System) system, the motivation behind it, its approach and its background. The system aims at dealing with the notorious Man-in-the-Middle attack in the context of VoIP. We research the multimedia information hiding (MIH) which is a technology to overlay digital information on multimedia contents such as picture, sound, document, etc. As application to disaster management of MIH, we have developed a new technology called "PAIH" (Public Address Information Hiding) which is a technology to overlay information such as position or destination on siren sound of urgent vehicles. Siren sound is allowed to degrade of sound quality, but PAIH is required to decode correct information from siren sound with pitch shift (Doppler effect) or under noisy environment.

The paper analyzed and model of a fault tolerant electromechanical controlled worm gear driven fuel shut off valve for aerospace application. The analysis is mainly on design a reduced order fractional controller. This is for controlling the velocity of worm gear so that the friction torque due to uneven rotational speed can be avoided. Because with the friction and stiction and backlash the valve system performance is reduced and more and more unstable this leads the system to failure. The proposed controller can provide robustness against the uncertain loading torque and system parameter.
