Recently, angle measurements have been performed using a goniometer, but the complex motion of shoulder movement has made these measurements intricate. The angle of rotation of the shoulder is particularly difficult to measure from an upright position because of the complicated base and moving axes. This article presents a real-time shoulder angle measurement system utilizing computer vision and machine learning techniques, specifically designed for the rehabilitation of frozen shoulder and related conditions. The system leverages MediaPipe, an open-source framework, to capture and analyze shoulder movements accurately. With its modular architecture, the system processes video feeds in real time, detecting key body points and calculating shoulder angles, thereby providing immediate feedback to patients and therapists. The study evaluates the system's effectiveness in clinical and home-based environments, highlighting its potential to enhance physiotherapy by enabling precise, data-driven treatment plans. This research study also identifies current research gaps, proposes solutions, and explores future enhancements, including environmental adaptation, mobile integration, and the extension to other joints. This study has attempted to estimate the shoulder joint internal/external rotation angle using the combination of pose estimation artificial intelligence (AI), computer vision, and a machine learning mode.

Equity and Fairness of Bayesian Knowledge Tracing

We consider the equity and fairness of curricula derived from Knowledge Tracing models. We begin by defining a unifying notion of an equitable tutoring system as a system that achieves maximum possible knowledge in minimal time for each student interacting with it. Realizing perfect equity requires tutoring systems that can provide individualized curricula per student. In particular, we investigate the design of equitable tutoring systems that derive their curricula from Knowledge Tracing models. We first show that many existing models, including classical Bayesian Knowledge Tracing (BKT) and Deep Knowledge Tracing (DKT), and their derived curricula can fall short of achieving equitable tutoring. To overcome this issue, we then propose a novel model, Bayesian-Bayesian Knowledge Tracing (B2KT), that naturally enables online individualization and, thereby, more equitable tutoring. We demonstrate that curricula derived from our model are more effective and equitable than those derived from classical BKT models. Furthermore, we highlight that improving models with a focus on the fairness of next-step predictions might be insufficient to develop equitable tutoring systems. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. In satellite communications, global navigation satellite systems(GNSS) and other important space activities, the value of total electron content (TEC) in the ionosphere directly affects the size of ionospheric delay. Achieving accurate prediction of ionospheric total electron content through modeling can effectively improve the reliability and accuracy of GNSS positioning. Considering the high prediction accuracy of long short-term memory neural network (LSTM) and the fast training speed of gated recurrent unit network (GRU), but it is easy to fall into the local optimum, while the width learning system(BLS) can effectively avoid this drawback. Therefore, this paper proposes a model for predicting the total electron content of the ionosphere, which consists of a broad learning system, an LSTM network and a GRU networks. Six parameters of TEC, geomagnetic index Dst, Kp, Ap, solar activity index F10.7, and hour (HD) are selected as input features from the observed data to predict the variation of the total ionospheric electron content. The results generate prediction maps of the total ionospheric electron content and are compared with empirical models and conventional neural network models at different times and solar activity conditions. The experimental results show that the root mean square error (RMSE) of the prediction results of this BLS-LSTM-GRU model is decreased by 23.07%, 17.48% and 9.46% compared with the IRI-2016, NeQuick and CNN-LSTM prediction models, respectively, with higher prediction accuracy. © 2024, Aerospace Information research Institute.

The zenith tropospheric delay (ZTD) obtained by global navigation satellite system (GNSS) atmospheric sounding is a pivotal data source for water vapor monitoring. Meteorological changes in Antarctica play an important role in analysis of the global climate, but factors such as complex climatic conditions can limit the collection of meteorological data needed for ZTD retrieval. Therefore, it is necessary to establish high-precision ZTD models that do not rely on measured meteorological data. The existing global pressure and temperature 3 (GPT3) model has limited ability to capture complex weather variations and cannot obtain high-precision GPT3_ZTD. To address the above issues, this research proposes a high-precision ZTD model through using temporal convolutional network (TCN) for improving the hourly global pressure and temperature 2 (HGPT2) model. The HGTP2 model based on Fourier analysis and the time-segmentation concept can consider the linear trend of climate variations, simultaneously the TCN is introduced to simulate the long-term temporal dependence of HGPT2_ZTD, so as to achieve the goal of obtaining high-precision ZTD without relying on measured meteorological data. The experimental results show that the precision of TCN_ZTD obtained from the proposed model is higher than GPT3_ZTD and HGPT2_ZTD when using the GNSS_ZTD observations obtained from 35 stations in Antarctica as a reference, and the improvement of the model is obvious. © 2024, Aerospace Information research Institute.

In the field of industrial production, anomaly detection is crucial for ensuring product quality and maintaining production efficiency. With the continuous advancement of computer vision technology, it has shown tremendous potential in industrial applications. However, the scarcity of labeled anomaly samples in real-world operating environments poses significant challenges for traditional anomaly detection techniques. To address this, we propose MemADet, a novel anomaly detection model that employs an unsupervised approach and leverages a representative memory bank. It employs a dynamic decision mechanism to control the representativeness of the features stored in the memory bank, and employs a weighted anomaly score calculation mechanism to further enhance the performance of image anomaly detection. Our evaluations indicate that MemADet performs robustly in industrial image anomaly detection across three datasets, with particularly no-table detection accuracy on the MVTec AD dataset. Its efficacy is further validated by competitive results on two additional datasets, highlighting its consistent and effective performance in various settings.

Image anomaly detection usually relies on a large set of training samples and abnormal samples are relatively rare and challenging to obtain in daily industrial scenarios. In the scenario of Few-Shot Anomaly Detection (FSAD), how to better utilize the fine-grained features of the few images is a key issue. To solve these problems, a Finer-Grained Siamese network (FGSNet) is proposed in this paper. FGSNet considers the setting of Few-Shot Anomaly Detection (FSAD) and consists of two stages. The first stage is responsible for extracting finer-grained features and roughly aligning the image features, while incorporating an efficient Fine-grained Feature Fusion Module $(\mathbf{F}^{3}\mathbf{M})$ to enhance feature representation. Meanwhile, we design a Deep-supervised Loss to improve the level of fine-grained information extraction. The second is primarily used to refine and denoise the fused features, followed by detailed alignment operations for subsequent feature distribution modeling. Compared to most existing FASD models that use single-class training and single-model evaluation, FGSNet is more suitable for existing industrial scenarios. Extensive experiments are conducted on the publicly available MVTec AD and MPDD datasets in this paper. The results show that, for 2, 4 and 8-shot cases, FGSNet can increase the average Image-AUROC on MVTec AD by 0.87%, 1.27% and 1.33% respectively, compared to RegAD.

In industrial manufacturing, visual anomaly detection is critical for maintaining product quality by detecting and preventing production anomalies. Anomaly detection methods based on knowledge distillation demonstrate promising performance in addressing the unpredictability and diversity of anomalies. However, they suffer from a lack of effective guidance from anomaly-free priors when handling anomalous features and underutilize multi-scale features during the segmentation scoring stage, yielding suboptimal detection results. To alleviate these issues, we propose an Anomaly-free Prior Guided knowledge distillation (APG) for industrial anomaly detection. Firstly, it filters the abnormal features by training the de-noising target network with knowledge distillation structure. Concurrently, we propose the Prior Perception Propagation Module (P 3 M), which extracts more efficient anomaly-free features by imposing constraints on anomalous features. Secondly, we propose the Multi-scale Prior Guided Fusion Module (MPGFM) to improve anomaly detection accuracy by utilizing anomaly-free features from the target network as priors to guide the generation and fusion of cross-scale differential features. Finally, the Global Perception Enhancement Module (GPEM) is proposed to construct an anomaly scoring network, leveraging comprehensive scene features to enhance the detection and localization performance of numerous small-target anomalies in industrial manufacturing. Extensive experiments on the MVTecAD and BTAD datasets show that the proposed method demonstrates a consistent and significant outperformance against competing methods.

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) distributes resources such as computing, storage, and bandwidth to the side close to users, which can provide low-latency services to in-vehicle users, thus promising a more efficient and safer driving environment. However, due to the dynamic scale of vehicle and the variability of resource requirements, it is a significant challenge to quickly obtain effective task offloading in large-scale vehicle scenarios. The existing studies generally adopt the centralized decision-making method, with long decision-making time and high computational overhead, which cannot effectively achieve good offloading decisions in large-scale scenarios. To address these problems, we propose a Multi-agent Collaborative Method for vehicular task offloading using Federated Deep Reinforcement Learning called MCM-FDRL. First, each vehicle as an agent, independently makes offloading decisions based on local information. Next, the offloading decision model of each vehicle is obtained through federated reinforcement learning training. At runtime, an effective vehicle offloading plan can be gradually developed through multi-agent collaboration. Using two real-world datasets, experiments show that the MCM-FDRL has good adaptability and scalability. Moreover, compared to the state-of-the-art methods, the task's average response time of the MCM-FDRL is reduced by 9.75%-64.90%, respectively. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

There is a growing interest to use Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) inversed PWV for heavy rainfall prediction. When heavy rainfall occurs, it requires the atmosphere to contain sufficient water vapour and undergo strong upward motion. However, existing models using GNSS-PWV for heavy rainfall prediction have not accounted for the effect of the complex motion of water vapour. In this paper, an hourly heavy rainfall prediction model using sample entropy derived from GNSS-PWV and PSO-SVM is proposed. The sample entropy of GNSS-PWV is used to measure the complexity of the water vapour movement process before heavy rainfall occurs. Meanwhile, combining GNSS-PWV time domain features and co-located meteorological data, the occurrence of hourly heavy rainfall events is predicted by support vector machine optimized with particle swarm. To verify the validity and feasibility of the proposed algorithm, Hong Kong's HKSC station in Sham Shui Po is used for the model to train and test. The result shows that probability of detection, false alarm rate and critical success index of the proposed algorithm in this paper have significantly improved over other heavy rainfall prediction models. © 2024, Aerospace Information research Institute.

Lung diseases such as pneumonia and tuberculosis present significant global health challenges, leading to millions of deaths annually. Chest X-ray imaging is crucial for diagnosing these conditions, but interpretation often relies on specialized radiologists, creating barriers in resource-limited areas. This study introduces a novel framework integrating topological data analysis (TDA), deep learning with ResNet-50, and contrastive learning to enhance the accuracy and computational efficiency of chest X-ray analysis. TDA captures global topological structures, while ResNet-50 extracts detailed local features. Contrastive learning then optimizes the feature space, enhancing the model’s discriminative power and generalization capabilities. Comprehensive evaluations on multiple datasets demonstrate the framework’s robustness and effectiveness, showing substantial improvements in diagnostic performance and computational efficiency. These findings suggest that the proposed approach is well-suited for real-time clinical applications, especially in resource-limited settings. Future work will focus on further optimizing the model and exploring its application to other medical imaging modalities, broadening its clinical utility.
