Due to the exceptional performance of Transform-ers in 2 $D$ medical image segmentation, recent work has also introduced them into 3D medical segmentation tasks. For instance, Swin UNETR and other hierarchical Transformers have reintroduced prior knowledge from several convolutional networks, further enhancing the volume segmentation capabilities of models. The efficacy of these hybrid methodologies is primarily attributed to the substantial quantity of parameters and the nonlocal self-attention mechanism with a large receptive field. We argue that the behavior of these methods' large receptive fields can be simulated by employing fewer parameters through the utilization of depth-wise convolutions with large kernel. Within this manuscript, we introduce a lightweight volume segmentation model called MedX-Net, which uses convolutional network modules to simulate hierarchical Transformers for robust volume segmentation. Firstly, inspired by the hierarchical Transformer module of Swin UNETR, we investigate large-kernel depth-wise convolutions with different sizes to achieve a reduced model parameter count while maintaining a large global receptive field. Secondly, we replace the multilayer perceptron (MLP) in the hierarchical Transformer module with Inverted Bottleneck with Depthwise Convolution Enhancement(DWCE) to improve model performance with fewer activation and normalization layers, further reducing the parameter count. We validate the effectiveness and efficiency of our model for volume segmentation on three public datasets: Synapse, BTCV and ACDC. On the Synapse dataset, compared to Swin UNETR, our model achieves an improvement from 83.48% to 87.21% in Dice score. Compared to the result of 86.57% achieved by nnFormer, our model achieves superior performance while reducing the model parameter count by 64%.

The objective of sequential recommendation is to predict user preferences for items based on historical interaction sequences. This process often leads to a phenomenon known as popularity bias, where popular items are excessively recommended. Conformity, the tendency of users to follow popular items, is a significant factor contributing to this issue. Previous methods have not adequately disentangled conformity and interest, failing to accurately model users’ true intent. To address this, we propose a novel Disentangled Interest and Conformity Sequential Recommendation method (DICSRec) to mitigate the popularity bias. Specifically, we first design an Intent Encoding Module (IEM), which includes two independent encoders for conformity and interest to model their representations. To better disentangle these two factors, we design a disentangling task with proxy-based self-supervised learning and orthogonal regularization. Furthermore, to provide the Intent Encoding Module with more global information, we design a Global Conformity-aware Module (GCM), which supplies item popularity information and aids in enhancing user conformity representation. Lastly, recognizing the varying significance of user conformity and interest, we propose an adaptive Fusion Prediction Module (FPM) that adaptively aggregates user conformity and interest representations for final prediction. Experiments on four real-world datasets consistently demonstrate the superiority of our method over advanced sequential recommendation models. Sequential Recommender Systems (SRS), leveraging the temporal information from users' behaviors, have noticeably improved user experience against traditional systems. However, these behaviors often follow long-tail distribution, making the systems biased towards popular items (i.e., popularity bias). Moreover, popularity bias would amplify the neglect of long-tail recommendations, thereby sharpening the long-tail problem. Previous researches usually address these challenges independently, focusing on reducing the over-recommendation of popular items or enhancing the representation quality of tail items. Indeed, it is possible to incorporate their merits to achieve the best of both worlds. Thus, we propose a novel and unified framework, named Collaborative Solution to Long tailed problem and Popularity bias (CSLP), to tackle both the long-tail problem and popularity bias simultaneously. To achieve this, we first introduce a representation enhancement module featuring dual generators to enhance user and item representations, particularly for those in the tail. On the other hand, a debiasing module incorporating an Inverse Propensity Score (IPS) with a clipping strategy is introduced to further alleviate the popularity bias. Specifically, this clipping strategy demonstrates a clear decrease in the original IPS method's variance, effectively improving the recommendation for stability and accuracy. Experiments on three widely-used datasets show CSLP's effectiveness in solving both issues. CSLP surpasses all baselines (traditional, popularity bias, and long-tail problem) in overall performance, significantly enhancing recommendation accuracy for both tail users and items, and achieving a more balanced ratio of recommendations between popular and tail items. 3D medical image segmentation is an essential task in the medical image field, which aims to segment organs or tumours into different labels. A number of issues exist with the current 3D medical image segmentation task: existing models cannot simultaneously obtain the space correlation and depth correlation of 3D slices; previous models suffer from local detail loss of positional embedding in 3D images; previous approaches often have blurring of boundaries in segmenting 3D images. To solve these shortcomings, we propose a 3D medical image segmentation model named TPM-SAM. In our model, we design a twinchannel image encoder to simultaneously capture the space correlation and depth correlation of 3D slices through a multi-head attention mechanism and improved adapters. Furthermore, we design a prompt encoding generator, which divides the volumetric image into small blocks and better captures the local detail information. In addition, we introduce a multi-layer aggregation decoder by employing U-Net with multi-level skip connection to solve the blurring of boundaries in processing 3D images. Finally, we experimented and evaluated our model on KiTS21 and LiTS17 datasets to compare with other baseline models.

With the high speed development of information technology, the healthcare system increasingly relies on cloud servers for data storage and complex computation, patient data privacy issues stem from healthcare systems' vulnerability to breaches, despite data encryption emphasis, insufficient focus on preventing unauthorized access risks compromises patient information confidentiality. Consequently, the need to protect privacy within the healthcare system has gained significant attentions. However, existing research primarily concentrates on data encryption processes, but there is comparatively less attention given to addressing potential privacy leaks concerning data visitors. In this paper, we propose a privacy-preserving access control model for healthcare cloud data visitors. Our model combines the RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) model with the PSI (Private Set Intersection) technique to ensure the privacy and security of data visitors. The performance analysis of our proposed solution demonstrates its relative efficiency and practicality when applied to E-medical systems.

Sparse mixed linear modeling with anchor-based guidance for high-entropy alloy discovery

High-entropy alloys have attracted attention for their exceptional mechanical properties and thermal stability. However, the combinatorial explosion in the number of possible elemental compositions renders traditional trial-and-error experimental approaches highly inefficient for materials discovery. To solve this problem, machine learning techniques have been increasingly employed for property prediction and high-throughput screening. Nevertheless, highly accurate nonlinear models often suffer from a lack of interpretability, which is a major limitation. In this study, we focus on local data structures that emerge from the greedy search behavior inherent to experimental data acquisition. By introducing a linear and low-dimensional mixture regression model, we strike a balance between predictive performance and model interpretability. In addition, we develop an algorithm that simultaneously performs prediction and feature selection by considering multiple candidate descriptors. Through a case study on high-entropy alloys, this study introduces a method that combines anchor-guided clustering and sparse linear modeling to address biased data structures arising from greedy exploration in materials science. © 2025, CC BY.

Acute intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) entity accounts for 10 to 15% of all strokes and is associated with a higher mortality rate ischemic stroke or subarachnoid hemorrhage. Causes of ICH are divided into primary, and secondary, including vascular malformation and tumorous. Primary ICH accounts for approximately 80% of all ICH cases. Vascular anomalies rank as the second most common cause of spontaneous ICH overall. Furthermore, hemorrhage resulting from brain tumors can occur in up to 10% of all primary or metastatic tumors. Early recognizing of these three causes of bleeding is critical for clinicians in precise diagnosis, effective treatment management, and helps avoid delayed diagnosis. We proposed a radiomics approach for classifying multiple causes of acute ICH as vascular malformation, tumorous, and primary-related hematoma. Non-contrast brain computed tomography with clinical features was used as input. The regions of both hematoma and perihematomal edema were delineated by using manual segmentation approach. Four feature selection methods were adopted. Also, three classification models were investigated in this study. The results showed that using the features selected by F-value applied with SVM classifier outperformed the other models, achieving weighted average accuracy (± SD) of 0.84 (± 0.07). Additionally, the model demonstrated average sensitivity and positive predictive value of 0.84 (± 0.06) and 0.86 (± 0.05), respectively. We also evaluate the overall performance of discriminating each class from the rest using AUC. The result suggested that our proposed model achieved the weighted average AUC of 0.90. Our proposed method highlights the potential in identifying multiple causes of acute and nontraumatic ICH, which has not been previously explored.

Separable nonlinear models are widely used in various fields such as time series analysis, system modeling, and machine learning, due to their flexible structures and ability to capture nonlinear behavior of data. However, identifying the parameters of these models is challenging, especially when sparse models with better interpretability are desired by practitioners. Previous theoretical and practical studies have shown that variable projection (VP) is an efficient method for identifying separable nonlinear models, but these are based on $L_2$ penalty of model parameters, which cannot be directly extended to deal with sparse constraint. Based on the exploration of the structural characteristics of separable models, this paper proposes gradient-based and trust-region-based variable projection algorithms, which mainly solve two key problems: how to eliminate linear parameters under sparse constraint;and how to deal with the coupling relationship between linear and nonlinear parameters in the model. Finally, numerical experiments on synthetic data and real time series data are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

Document-level entity relation extraction is an important task in the field of natural language processing, which plays an important role in semantic understanding and knowledge graph construction. However, existing deep neural networks and graph neural networks models are limited by their performance and parameters number, which can not capture global semantics and have poor generalization ability. Furthermore, existing methods employing large language model for entity relation extraction do not establish good relationships among multi-tasks of entity relation extraction task, resulting in more information can not be effectively shared and transmitted between tasks. In addition, previous approaches can not effectively eliminate false entities and relationships. To solve these problems, we propose an entity relation extraction framework based on large language model and multi-tasks iterative prompt engineering. In our model, we design an iterative prompt engineering, which can better establish the relationship among multi-tasks, and ensure every task to obtain the optimal results. Moreover, we design semantic merging, group disambiguation and self-verification modules to eliminate the false entity relations and noise nodes. Additionally, we design summary prompts to provide sufficient global semantics for better text segmentation. Finally, we evaluated our model on wikiann, wikineural, ACE2005, CoNLL2003, CoNLL2004, and SciERC datasets and compared it with other baseline models.

Emotion Recognition in Conversations (ERC) is a widely applicable task, whether in emotional chatbots or recommender systems for dialog scenarios. The ability of systems to accurately identify human emotions is a crucial component in ERC success. In everyday conversations, a speaker’s emotional expression is closely tied to their individual characteristics and personality traits. Furthermore, individuals exhibit significant variations in their expressions of the same emotion. Traditional methods for ERC often overlook these personality differences and dynamic changes, leading to unreliable results. To address this issue, we propose a conversation emotion recognition model based on dynamic modeling of speaker’s personality (ERC DMSP). In our approach, to extract a speaker’s personality profile, we design a personality capture module to model the personalities of individuals based on their historical utterances. Moreover, a bidirectional influence exists between a speaker’s personality tendencies and their linguistic behavior. The speaker’s personality profile is thus continually updated based on the ongoing dialog. Additionally, since the personalities of other speakers in the conversation can also affect the form and intensity of a speaker’s emotional expression, we construct a conversation emotion representation utilizing group personality traits. We then comprehensively incorporate the speaker’s personality into the emotion representation of each utterance at both the group and individual levels through the personality engagement module. Throughout this process, the representation of dialog and the speaker’s personality undergo hierarchical updates, leading to more accurate conversation emotion recognition. We conducted extensive experiments on four commonly used public benchmark datasets for ERC to evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed ERC DMSP model.
