In current medical practice, patients undergoing depression treatment must wait four to six weeks before a clinician can assess medication response due to the delayed noticeable effects of antidepressants. Identification of a treatment response at any earlier stage is of great importance, since it can reduce the emotional and economic burden connected with the treatment. We approach the prediction of a patient response to a treatment as a classification problem, by utilizing the dynamic properties of EEG recordings on the 7th day of the treatment. We present a novel framework that applies motif discovery to extract meaningful features from EEG data distinguishing between depression treatment responders and non-responders. We applied our framework also to classification tasks in other psychiatric EEG datasets, namely to patients with symptoms of schizophrenia, pediatric patients with intractable seizures, and Alzheimer disease and dementia. We achieved high classification precision in all data sets. The results demonstrate that the dynamic properties of the EEGs may support clinicians in decision making both in diagnosis and in the prediction depression treatment response as early as on the 7th day of the treatment. Federated learning (FL) has been widely applied in medical field, which allows clients to collaboratively train global models without sharing local data. Nevertheless, the diversity and scarcity of samples from rare diseases may result in a decline in the performance of local models on client-side due to using a singular global model. Moreover, direct transmission of local models or parameters will likely lead to user privacy violations. To solve these problems, we propose a Grouped Federated Meta-Learning (GrFML) method to improve the performance of local personalization models while protecting data privacy. Specifically, we first utilize a self-attention mechanism to extract partial features from the client’s local data, which are uploaded to the server (medical data is susceptible to perturbation and data integrity, thus this process does not expose the private data). The server groups clients with similar features based on these extracted features. Then, multiple meta-models are trained on these groups and distributed back to the clients to enhance the performance of the client’s local models. Furthermore, during the FL process, we introduce dynamic perturbation to the uploaded gradients based on the model’s test accuracy to protect their privacy. Typically, the perturbation magnitude is directly proportional to the model’s test accuracy. Extensive experiments shown that the GrFML model significantly improves client personalization model accuracy and achieves a good privacy-utility trade-off.

In recent years, algorithms and neural architectures based on the Weisfeiler-Leman algorithm, a well-known heuristic for the graph isomorphism problem, have emerged as a powerful tool for machine learning with graphs and relational data. Here, we give a comprehensive overview of the algorithm's use in a machine-learning setting, focusing on the supervised regime. We discuss the theoretical background, show how to use it for supervised graph and node representation learning, discuss recent extensions, and outline the algorithm's connection to (permutation-)equivariant neural architectures. Moreover, we give an overview of current applications and future directions to stimulate further research.

Predicting stock prices is a critical financial activity that is frequently impacted by sentiment analysis, machine learning, and data mining approaches. This examination looks at a variety of stock price prediction methods, including artificial neural networks, graph-based approaches, time series analysis, and classic machine learning techniques such as Support Vector Machine, K-Nearest Neighbor, and Random Forest. The article assesses the problems and efficacy of various methodologies, including a thorough examination of sentiment analysis in social media to enhance stock market predictions. By examining multiple research, this study provides a complete evaluation of various prediction algorithms and reveals their shortcomings, such as overfitting, non-stationary data, and the complexity of financial transactions. It helps academics and practitioners construct more accurate and dependable stock forecasting models by merging financial data with sentiment analysis. The study also discusses rising trends and new potential for further study, especially hybrid models and advanced deep learning approaches to improve the accuracy of stock forecasts.

The Quality-of-Service (QoS) aspects of Web service has gained popularity in the field of service computing. QoS-oriented Web service composition is a distributed model to construct new web service on top of existing primitive or other composite web services with QoS guarantees. A major challenge in this field is that the QoS data of candidate services are with run-time fluctuations and thus difficult to predict. Traditional approaches in this direction tended to address the challenge by statistics, prediction and neural network-based models. A major limitation of these methods lies in that they ignore outliers data in the historical QoS data, in terms of inconsistencies, errors, shifts, corruptions, etc. In this work, instead, we consider outliers in QoS series to be non-neglectable, and propose an outlier-tolerable and predictive approach to service composition through leveraging a joint estimation-based outlier detection method and a niched genetic algorithm. To validate the effectiveness of our proposed method, we conduct extensive case studies based on different outlier conditions, and the experimental results show that our method is superior to existing ones. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Discrete chaotic systems based on memristors exhibit excellent dynamical properties and are more straightforward to implement in hardware, making them highly suitable for generating cryptographic keystreams. However, most existing memristor-based chaotic systems rely on a single memristor. This paper introduces a novel discrete chaotic system employing dual memristors, named the 3D memristive cubic map with dual discrete memristors (3D-MCM). The 3D-MCM system demonstrates richer and more intricate dynamical behaviors compared to its single-memristor counterparts, as verified through bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponent spectra, and complexity analyses. Notably, the system exhibits coexisting attractors, substantially enhancing its dynamical complexity. Hardware implementation of the 3D-MCM attractors confirms its feasibility for industrial applications. To illustrate the system's potential in encryption tasks, this study integrates the quaternary-based permutation and dynamic emanating diffusion (QPDED-IE) scheme for image encryption with the *** results demonstrate that the QPDED-IE scheme based on the 3D-MCM exhibits strong diffusion and confusion properties, effectively resisting cryptanalytic attacks. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

Community discovery can help discover potential community structures in the network, which is a fundamental and important issue in network science. Graph neural network-based algorithms are receiving increasing attention. However, there is relatively little work on community discovery directly using graph neural networks in reconstruction design. This paper presents an Unsupervised Community Discovery Algorithm based on reconstructed graph neural network (UCDA) to resolve the above issues. To be specific, this paper proposes a framework that learns the representation based on network structure and attribute information. By designing input network features, encoders, decoders, this algorithm uses an unsupervised loss function to train neural networks to extract communities in an integrated way. These designs integrate higher-order modularity information with network features and use variational graph auto-encoders to train data end-to-end under the graph neural network framework. Based on a series of experiments with a wide range of datasets and advanced algorithms, UCDA has achieved superior performance and shows strong competitiveness. Finally, the last section reports the results analysis, t-SNE visualization and hyperparameter analysis, which depicts stable performance and powerful network modularity ability. © 2023 IEEE.

The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) coding assigns standardized codes to diseases. Automating this process enhances the efficiency and accuracy of clinical records processing. However, current methods struggle with noisy and lengthy clinical texts, making it difficult to ensure the reliability of feature extraction. Furthermore, they typically make separate binary predictions for each code, overlooking the dependencies between them. To address these issues, we propose a novel model called Hierarchical Feature Optimization and Rescorer (HiRes). We employ a cascaded convolution architecture to mitigate noise and enhance feature representation. Additionally, a masked autoencoder-based rescorer is introduced to capture ICD code interdependencies, refining initial predictions for improved accuracy. The model also considers the inconsistencies in code representations. Experiments on the MIMIC datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our model. © 2025 IEEE.

The design of wireless mobile devices of the next generation 5G promises to address the demands of complex IOT designs in terms of connectivity technologies. The first section of the article gives a summary of the main characteristics of 5G technology, highlighting how it has the potential to completely change how Internet of Things devices interact and communicate. In the process of large-scale industrial production, complex defects of different shapes and sizes can occur in industrial products and their components, and these defects seriously affect the performance of industrial products and their components, and being able to quickly and accurately identify defective industrial products and their components is an important task. Memory-based methods are usually used for anomaly detection, and these methods often rely on pre-trained models for feature extraction, but have high requirements on feature quality. In addition, patch-based methods mainly focus on local differences in feature embedding when detecting anomalies without explicitly exploiting broader contextual information, thus greatly affecting the robustness and accuracy of anomaly detection. Aiming at the above problems and requirements, this paper proposes a Feature Aggregation network for Memory-Based Industrial Anomaly Detection (FANet), which is based on the pre-extraction of anomalous features, attentional attention to key features, information aggregation of multi-level and multi-scale features, and the FANet provides advanced performance in industrial image anomaly detection and localisation by pre-extraction of anomalous features, attentional attention to key features, information aggregation of multi-layered and multi-scale features, and introduction of environmental information in the anomaly score computation to perform industrial anomaly detection tasks, and using core set subsampling to reduce storage requirements. On the MVTec AD, FANet has an image-level AUROC score of 99.1% and a pixel-level AUROC score of 98.2%. Similarly high detection results were achieved on the ViSA dataset, further demonstrating the robustness of FANet.
