Society 5.0 focuses on human productivity in the midst of advanced technological services. While the concept has human trust at its core, technology development is now leading to zero-trust architecture. In this scientometrics review, 107 selected papers were analyzed to obtain the nature of the Zero-knowledge Proof (ZKP) theory and its advanced applications to favor digital privacy in greater society. With the common literature review strategy, it was found that the most citations in this field appeared in 2018, with IEEE, Springer, and Elsevier as the top three publishers. By affiliations, China and United States are both leading countries where the researcher comes from. And as the positive trend emerged, the ZKP mechanism will keep being leveraged as one of the cryptographic toolsets in the cloud services, Internet of Things (IoT), smart contracts, healthcare, electronic systems, and many other industrial needs. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

Fast reroute (FRR) mechanisms that can instantly handle network failures in the data plane are gaining attention in packet-switched networks. In FRR no notification messages are required as the nodes adjacent to the failure are prepared with a routing table such that the packets are re-routed only based on local information. However, designing the routing algorithm for FRR is challenging because the number of possible sets of failed network links and nodes can be extremely high, while the algorithm should keep track of which nodes are aware of the failure. In this paper, we propose a generic algorithmic framework that combines the benefits of Integer Linear Programming (ILP) and an effective approach from graph theory related to constructive graph characterization of k-connected graphs, i.e., edge splitting-off. We illustrate these benefits through arborescence design for FRR and show that (i) due to the ILP we have great flexibility in defining the routing problem, while (ii) the problem can still be solved very fast. We demonstrate through simulations that our framework outperforms state-of-the-art FRR mechanisms and provides better resilience with shorter paths in the arborescences. © 2023 IEEE.

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) provides users with low-latency, highly responsive services by deploying Edge Servers (ESs) near applications. MEC allows any edge-hosted application or service to be migrated between different edge resource providers without being locked into a single provider. Nevertheless, due to its complexity and dynamics, the real edge computing environment is prone to errors and failures, reducing the reliability of edge service migration. This paper proposes a novel fault-tolerant method for redundant path service migration. The method utilizes sliding-window-based model and identifies a set of service migration paths, enabling the evaluation of the time-varying failure rate of ESs. The method combines resubmission and replication mechanisms and decides the edge service migration scheme by selecting multiple redundant migration paths. We also conduct extensive simulations and show that our proposed method outperforms traditional solutions in several metrics. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The ability to predict response to medication treatment of depressed patients, either early in the course of therapy or before treatment even begins can avoid trials of ineffective therapy and save patients from prolonged intervals of suffering. Symptom alleviation requires 4-6 weeks after starting current antidepressive medication. Based on the data basis of the patients and their EEG before and on the 7th day of treatment we apply data mining, causal discovery and machine learning approaches to discover interactive patterns between patient’s brain regions to separate the treatment responders from non-responders. In this paper we report the preliminary results of our international project "Learning Synchronization Patterns in Multivariate Neural Signals for Prediction of Response to Antidepressants" ongoing at the University of Vienna, the Czech Academy of sciences and the National Institute of Mental Health in the Czech Republic.

The purpose of infrared and visible image fusion is to combine the advantages of different types of images to produce more robust and informative images. However, if the source images are noisy, existing fusion methods may not produce clear results. To address this issue, we propose a novel method for infrared and visible image fusion with noise reduction. This method enhances the visual perception of fused images by integrating features of different scales extracted by the denoising network into the fusion network. By using deformable convolutional denoising networks, noise in images can be removed and features can be enhanced. Then, a set of reinforced attention fusion modules (RAFM) are designed to fuse the features extracted by the denoising network. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method, which outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods in terms of fusion accuracy and visual perception.

Due to the swift development of cloud computing technology, an increasing number of healthcare organizations tend to store electronic health records (EHR) on cloud storage servers. To ensure patient privacy, sensitive information within EHR data must undergo encryption prior to being uploaded to the cloud server. Nonetheless, this encryption process alters the data's original structural characteristics, presenting a significant challenge in achieving effective and flexible EHR utilization, such as plaintext keyword search. Considering the privacy and practicality of EHR. This paper introduces a new cloud-based EHR system that integrates public-key encryption with the keyword search (PEKS) scheme. This system enables authorized users to conduct searches for specific keywords on encrypted EHR data, all while maintaining the highest level of data security. Compared to existing PEKS-based EHR system solutions, our approach is not limited by a secure channel, reducing communication overhead while taking full advantage of the large storage space and high computational performance of the cloud server to realize flexible and effective search capabilities. Furthermore, our solution effectively prevents online keyword guessing attacks from outside adversaries.

Thisstudy introduces the DeepStreamNet model, an advanced framework for enhancing real-time traffic management in urban environments using adaptive IoT and sophisticated big data analytics. Central to our approach is the integration of convolutional neural networks (CNNs), recurrent neural networks (RNNs), and long short-term memory (LSTM) units, which synergize with IoT devices to facilitate dynamic adaptation to fluctuating traffic conditions. The model excels in operational performance, achieving a notable accuracy of 94.7% in congestion prediction with an exceptionally low latency of only 45 ms per decision cycle and the capability to process up to 50,000 data points per second. These technical achievements have marked significant improvements over traditional traffic management systems, enhancing traffic flow efficiency and reducing congestion effectively. The results underscore the transformative potential of the DeepStreamNet model in urban traffic management and public safety, offering actionable insights for intelligent transportation systems and setting the stage for more informed urban planning. Looking forward, we suggest extending the application of our model to areas such as logistics and broader smart city initiatives, highlighting its adaptability and broad utility in various urban contexts

We propose a novel two-party private set intersection (PSI) protocol, which achieves ideal and constant receiver-to-sender and linear sender-to-receiver communication overhead, linear computational complexity, along with receiver size-hiding and lightweight computation cost. In comparison with other PSI protocols, the proposed protocol is more practical as it does not require any fully homomorphic computation. We propose three variants to demonstrate efficiency optimization, size-hiding feature extension, and online/offline settings for real-world applications, respectively, to offer a practical control between security and efficiency. Finally, we prove that our proposed protocols are secure against malicious participants under our security model. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Answering complex queries over incomplete knowledge graphs (KGs) is a challenging task. Most previous works have focused on learning entity/relation embeddings and simulating first-order logic operators with various neural networks. However, they are bottlenecked by the inability to share world knowledge to improve logical reasoning, thus resulting in suboptimal performance. In this paper, we propose a complex reasoning schema over KG upon large language models (LLMs), containing a curriculum-based logical-aware instruction tuning framework, named LACT. Specifically, we augment the arbitrary first-order logical queries via binary tree decomposition, to stimulate the reasoning capability of LLMs. To address the difficulty gap among different types of complex queries, we design a simple and flexible logic-aware curriculum learning framework. Experiments across widely used datasets demonstrate that LACT has substantial improvements (brings an average +5.5% MRR score) over advanced methods, achieving the new state-of-the-art. Various deep learning techniques have been employed to diagnose dental caries using X-ray images. In this study, we utilized deep learning models, including Convolutional Neural networks (CNNs) and transfer learning models such as Visual Geometry Group (VGG16), VGG19, ResNet50, and Inception V3, to identify dental caries in periapical radiographs. The traditional CNN model comprises three sets of 2D convolutional layers, followed by an activation layer, a max-pooling layer, a flatten layer, one dense layer, another activation layer, dropout, another dense layer, and a final activation layer. For the VGG models, ResNet50, and Inception V3, the top convolutional layers were frozen to prevent retraining of the model, with only the last layers trained to produce the required output. The accuracy achieved by CNN, VGG16, VGG19, ResNet50, and Inception V3 was 90%, 96%, 73%, 70%, and 73%, respectively. VGG16 exhibited the highest accuracy among the models. Hyperparameters were carefully selected using a grid search approach, and the results were validated using the Shuffle-Split-Cross (SSC) validation method. These findings underscore the effectiveness of transfer learning in analyzing medical images, particularly in the diagnosis of dental caries. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
