Sequential Recommender Systems (SRS), leveraging the temporal information from users' behaviors, have noticeably improved user experience against traditional systems. However, these behaviors often follow long-tail distribution, making the systems biased towards popular items (i.e., popularity bias). Moreover, popularity bias would amplify the neglect of long-tail recommendations, thereby sharpening the long-tail problem. Previous researches usually address these challenges independently, focusing on reducing the over-recommendation of popular items or enhancing the representation quality of tail items. Indeed, it is possible to incorporate their merits to achieve the best of both worlds. Thus, we propose a novel and unified framework, named Collaborative Solution to Long tailed problem and Popularity bias (CSLP), to tackle both the long-tail problem and popularity bias simultaneously. To achieve this, we first introduce a representation enhancement module featuring dual generators to enhance user and item representations, particularly for those in the tail. On the other hand, a debiasing module incorporating an Inverse Propensity Score (IPS) with a clipping strategy is introduced to further alleviate the popularity bias. Specifically, this clipping strategy demonstrates a clear decrease in the original IPS method's variance, effectively improving the recommendation for stability and accuracy. Experiments on three widely-used datasets show CSLP's effectiveness in solving both issues. CSLP surpasses all baselines (traditional, popularity bias, and long-tail problem) in overall performance, significantly enhancing recommendation accuracy for both tail users and items, and achieving a more balanced ratio of recommendations between popular and tail items. Acute intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) entity accounts for 10 to 15% of all strokes and is associated with a higher mortality rate ischemic stroke or subarachnoid hemorrhage. Causes of ICH are divided into primary, and secondary, including vascular malformation and tumorous. Primary ICH accounts for approximately 80% of all ICH cases. Vascular anomalies rank as the second most common cause of spontaneous ICH overall. Furthermore, hemorrhage resulting from brain tumors can occur in up to 10% of all primary or metastatic tumors. Early recognizing of these three causes of bleeding is critical for clinicians in precise diagnosis, effective treatment management, and helps avoid delayed diagnosis. We proposed a radiomics approach for classifying multiple causes of acute ICH as vascular malformation, tumorous, and primary-related hematoma. Non-contrast brain computed tomography with clinical features was used as input. The regions of both hematoma and perihematomal edema were delineated by using manual segmentation approach. Four feature selection methods were adopted. Also, three classification models were investigated in this study. The results showed that using the features selected by F-value applied with SVM classifier outperformed the other models, achieving weighted average accuracy (± SD) of 0.84 (± 0.07). Additionally, the model demonstrated average sensitivity and positive predictive value of 0.84 (± 0.06) and 0.86 (± 0.05), respectively. We also evaluate the overall performance of discriminating each class from the rest using AUC. The result suggested that our proposed model achieved the weighted average AUC of 0.90. Our proposed method highlights the potential in identifying multiple causes of acute and nontraumatic ICH, which has not been previously explored. © 2023 IEEE.

Recently, angle measurements have been performed using a goniometer, but the complex motion of shoulder movement has made these measurements intricate. The angle of rotation of the shoulder is particularly difficult to measure from an upright position because of the complicated base and moving axes. This article presents a real-time shoulder angle measurement system utilizing computer vision and machine learning techniques, specifically designed for the rehabilitation of frozen shoulder and related conditions. The system leverages MediaPipe, an open-source framework, to capture and analyze shoulder movements accurately. With its modular architecture, the system processes video feeds in real time, detecting key body points and calculating shoulder angles, thereby providing immediate feedback to patients and therapists. The study evaluates the system's effectiveness in clinical and home-based environments, highlighting its potential to enhance physiotherapy by enabling precise, data-driven treatment plans. This research study also identifies current research gaps, proposes solutions, and explores future enhancements, including environmental adaptation, mobile integration, and the extension to other joints. This study has attempted to estimate the shoulder joint internal/external rotation angle using the combination of pose estimation artificial intelligence (AI), computer vision, and a machine learning mode. © 2024 IEEE.

Lung diseases such as pneumonia and tuberculosis present significant global health challenges, leading to millions of deaths annually. Chest X-ray imaging is crucial for diagnosing these conditions, but interpretation often relies on specialized radiologists, creating barriers in resource-limited areas. This study introduces a novel framework integrating topological data analysis (TDA), deep learning with ResNet-50, and contrastive learning to enhance the accuracy and computational efficiency of chest X-ray analysis. TDA captures global topological structures, while ResNet-50 extracts detailed local features. Contrastive learning then optimizes the feature space, enhancing the model's discriminative power and generalization capabilities. Comprehensive evaluations on multiple datasets demonstrate the framework's robustness and effectiveness, showing substantial improvements in diagnostic performance and computational efficiency. These findings suggest that the proposed approach is well-suited for real-time clinical applications, especially in resource-limited settings. Future work will focus on further optimizing the model and exploring its application to other medical imaging modalities, broadening its clinical utility. © 2024 IEEE.

Crowd management and analysis(CMA)systems have gained a lot of interest in the vulgarization of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)*** tracking using UAVs is among the most important services provided by a *** this paper,we studied the periodic crowd-tracking(PCT)*** consists in usingUAVs to follow-up crowds,during the life-cycle of an open crowded area(OCA).Two criteria were considered for this *** first is related to the CMA initial investment,while the second is to guarantee the quality of service(QoS).The existing works focus on very specified assumptions that are highly committed to CMAs applications *** study outlined a new binary linear programming(BLP)model to optimally solve the PCT motivated by a real-world application study taking into consideration the high level of *** closely approach different real-world contexts,we carefully defined and investigated a set of parameters related to the OCA characteristics,behaviors,and theCMAinitial infrastructure investment(e.g.,UAVs,charging stations(CSs)).In order to periodically update theUAVs/crowds andUAVs/CSs assignments,the proposed BLP was integrated into a linear algorithm called PCTs *** main objective was to study the PCT problem fromboth theoretical and numerical *** prove the PCTs solver effectiveness,we generated a diversified set of PCTs instances with different scenarios for simulation *** empirical results analysis enabled us to validate the BLPmodel and the PCTs solver,and to point out a set of new challenges for future research directions.

The aim of cross-modal image-text retrieval is to heighten comprehension and to create robust associations between visual and textual content. This process entails a mutual querying and synchronization across various data formats. While conventional techniques have seen enhancements via attention-based approaches, they frequently miss the dynamics between corresponding and non-corresponding entity areas within image-text pairs. These techniques, often fixated on aligning image entities with textual terms, can overlook the congruence of entity characteristics, leading to less accurate localization. This research introduces PNRITR, an innovative strategy for cross-modal retrieval that leverages label learning to discern attributes absent from images, broadening the scope beyond just positive entity areas. Entity alignment(EA) aims to identify equivalent entities in different knowledge graphs or data sources and establish correspondences between them. In recent years, embedding-based methods have made significant progress in the field of entity alignment, yet the shortage of adequate training data (i.e., seed entity pairs) continues to be a primary challenge. Traditional semi-supervised methods typically address this issue by generating potential mappings (i.e., pseudo-mappings) for unlabeled entities. However, these methods often suffer from the influence of erroneous potential mappings or overlook the uncertainty of potential mappings. Therefore, we propose a novel semi-supervised entity alignment method called JTEA. This method combines seed entity pairs with potential mappings through end-to-end joint training, providing strong guidance for model training. In constructing potential mappings, we propose a bidirectional matching strategy (BMS), which generates more detailed potential mappings by jointly adjusting decisions in different directions and uses a joint matching confidence score to characterize its uncertainty. Furthermore, we also introduce a method of matching diversity alignment selection, aiming to screen out more reliable entity alignments to further improve the performance and stability of the model. We conducted a large number of experiments on the benchmark dataset to fully validate the effectiveness of the JTEA method. © 2024 IEEE.

Chinese short text similarity computation stands as a pivotal task within natural language processing, garnering significant attention. However, existing models grapple with limitations in handling intricate semantic relationships, such as the challenge of discerning subtle semantic nuances in text, inadequacies in effectively integrating diverse levels of semantic information, and the struggle to capture polysemous meanings accurately. In addressing these issues, this paper introduces an innovative Chinese short text similarity computation model, SMGC-SBERT. This model addresses shortcomings of the existing models by employing a multi-module fusion strategy, thereby enabling a more precise measurement of semantic similarity between texts. Primarily, the model incorporates SAT embedding to acquire phrase-level semantic information and leverages the MS-BERT model to encode text, improving the model's comprehension of textual polysemy and obtaining richer semantic representation. Then, the fusion of module features, including multi-branch convolutional networks and mix pooling, enables the extraction of textual features from varied levels, bolstering the model's representational capacity. Additionally, to further reduce overfitting risks while improving accuracy and other performance, a multi-layer feature adjustment network is utilized for short text similarity calculation. The final resultant experimental findings showcase the superiority of the SMGC-SBERT model over other neural network models, demonstrating significant advancements across both Chinese-SNLI and CCKS2018_Task3 Chinese short text datasets. © 2024 IEEE.

Image-text matching is an important problem at the intersection of computer vision and natural language processing. It aims to establish the semantic link between image and text to achieve high-quality semantic alignment between the two modalities. However, the existing methods have the problem that the meaning expressed in the image or the complex narrative in the text cannot be fully understood due to insufficient feature extraction. Moreover, due to the essential modal differences between images and texts, how to effectively and accurately align the semantic contents in images and texts has become the key of research. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a method based on feature enhancement and relationship interaction. When processing images, the proposed method fuses labeled features, region features and location features to represent images. When processing text, a combination of Bi-GRU and self-attention mechanism is used to represent the text. In order to further align the semantic content in images and texts accurately, this paper improves two relational interaction mechanisms by identifying connection relationships and learning association relationships. Thus, the relation enhanced embedding is obtained. Finally, it calculated the similarity of the enhanced embedding to judge the matching degree of the image and text. Extensive experiments on the public datasets Flickr30K and MSCOCO demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. © 2024 IEEE.
