The performance of a battery pack is greatly affected by an imbalance between the cells. Cell balancing is a very important criterion for Battery Management System (BMS) to operate properly. This paper presents the various cell balancing topologies which have been presented by various researchers in the past years. A novel topology has also been discussed, which improves the overall efficiency of the components being used. Various comparison parameters such as Control, Speed, Efficiency, Power Effects, Manufacturability, Size, and Cost have been considered.

Signal behavior varies across different environments due to various parameters and factors, including terrain features, clutter, and atmospheric conditions. The International Telecommunication Union-Radio Sector (ITU-R) categorized the globe into different rain regions and provided classifications based on important parameters to understand signal behavior and the impact of atmospheric-based attenuation. In Nigeria, four regions have been designated, with different states categorized under each region. This paper critically analyses Region N (Lagos State) by utilizing the EDX Signal Pro software® to simulate typical Point-to-Point (P2P) links for the 5G communication networks considering the Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) scenario. The objective is to estimate the total and excess losses as well as the flat fading across different frequencies and distances. Our results demonstrate that losses and fading increase with higher frequencies and distances, attributable to the presence of obstacles and the level of rainfall rate in the location.

Green software and its products are crucial in solving the problems associated with the long-term use of software, especially from a sustainability point of view. A few studies have proposed green software but are still limited and lack balance measurements to attain green products. At the same time, without a mechanism for measuring the green ability of a particular software product executed in a specific environment, the mentioned benefits will not be guaranteed. Although sustainability and green can be accomplished when all dimensions are in balance, there is still a lack of balance measurements to achieve green products as needed by the industries and societies. The contributions of this study revolve around the works on green software measurements to attain a green software product from a sustainability's perspective. It provides a green measure structure consisting of the element, measurements, sub measurement, and metric. The study presented in this paper was conducted through theoretical review and contributed to the initial green software measurements investigation. © 2021 IEEE.

Environmental sound classification is an essential aspect of identifying different classes of sounds using a machine learning approach. This work investigates the efficacy of convolutional neural networks for classifying short environmental sound clips. In this work, a deep 1D-CNN architecture with 2 layers of convolutional employing max-pooling, followed by two fully-connected layers are utilized. The model leverages segmented spectrograms with delta features as input. Evaluated with datasets encompassing environmental and urban recordings, our model surpasses baseline methods utilizing mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs) and achieves competitive performance against traditional approaches.

this paper proposes a conceptual model for assessing user satisfaction in metaverse-based learning, a novel field that utilizes virtual reality technology to create an immersive and interactive learning experience. Despite the growing popularity of metaverse-based learning, there is a lack of research on how to evaluate user satisfaction in this type of learning environment. The proposed model includes four factors: Perceived Trialability, Perceived Observability, User Compatibility, and Perceived Complexity, each of which can be measured using statistical methods. The study aims to address the research gap in evaluating user satisfaction in metaverse-based learning and provides a model for educators and researchers to assess and improve user satisfaction in this innovative learning environment. The findings of this study contribute to the growing body of literature on metaverse-based learning and provide insights into the unique challenges associated with implementing this technology in educational settings.

When it comes to maximizing the effectiveness of a business and promoting professional growth, employee performance prediction is an extremely important factor. This research article investigates the use of machine learning (ML) approaches to forecast employee performance, with a particular emphasis on the incorporation of different algorithms from different sources to improve accuracy and dependability. Methods that have been used for a long time, such as linear regression and decision trees, are evaluated alongside more recent approaches, such as ensemble methods and deep learning. To refine the prediction models, our research makes use of approaches such as feature selection and dimensionality reduction. These techniques are utilized by utilizing previous performance data, demographic information, and behavioral indicators. It has been demonstrated through the analysis that sophisticated machine learning techniques, in particular ensemble and deep learning models, are superior to traditional methods when it comes to anticipating employee performance. Our findings offer HR departments concrete insights that can be used to adopt data-driven methods for performance management, which will eventually contribute to improved organizational outcomes and increased employee satisfaction. This paper offers opportunities for future development in predictive analytics within the field of human resources and emphasizes the potential of machine learning to alter performance evaluation systems.

The Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) developments have had a crucial effect on our daily lives. The usage of wireless sensor networks is increasing daily. They can be used in various fields such as incident management, war detection and exploration, border protection and, security monitoring. Also, they are used in unattended environments as a remote. The sensors in WSNs are fully automatic. One of the efficient ways to manage WSN effectively is clustering because it can support the scalability of nodes. One of the main challenges in Wireless Sensor Network is not only its implementation but also finding the best clustering algorithm. Besides, wireless sensor networks' features should be considered in their design as the primary keys. In this paper, we present some of the most well-known available clustering algorithms and compare them based on the features and complexity of the network. These features include the rate of node convergence, the stability, the overlapping of each cluster, supporting node movement. © 2020 IEEE.

Generalised tangent stabilised nonlinear elasticity: An automated framework for controlling material and geometric instabilities

Tangent stabilised large strain isotropic elasticity was recently proposed by Poya et al. [1] wherein by working directly with principal stretches the entire eigenstructure of constitutive and geometric/initial stiffness terms were found in closed-form, giving fresh insights into exact convexity conditions of highly non-convex functions in discrete settings. Consequently, owing to these newly found tangent eigenvalues an analytic tangent stabilisation was proposed (for common non-convex strain energies that exhibit material and/or geometric instabilities) bypassing incumbent numerical approaches routinely used in nonlinear finite element analysis. This formulation appears to be extremely robust for quasi-static simulation of complex deformations even with no load increments and time stepping while still capturing instabilities (similar to dynamic analysis) automatically in ways that are infeasible for path-following techniques in practice. In this work, we generalise the notion of tangent stabilised elasticity to virtually all known invariant formulations of nonlinear elasticity. We show that, closed-form eigen-decomposition of tangents is easily available irrespective of invariant formulation or integrity basis. In particular, we work out closed-form tangent eigensystems for isotropic Total Lagrangian deformation gradient (F)-based and right Cauchy-Green (C)-based as well as Updated Lagrangian left Cauchy-Green (b)-based formulations and present their exact convexity conditions postulated in terms of their corresponding tangent and initial stiffness eigenvalues. In addition, we introduce the notion of geometrically stabilised polyconvex large strain elasticity for models that are materially stable but exhibit geometric instabilities for whom we construct their initial stiffness in a spectrally-decomposed form analytically. In this work, the smart solar-powered street light system has been designed and implemented in the laboratory. Optimal sized Lithium-ion battery bank is designed and connected with the street light system to fulfill the objective of efficient utilization of available solar energy. The smart control system is designed to protect the storage system from overcharging and deep discharge conditions. The resonant switched capacitor cell balancer circuit is used to equalize the voltages of series-connected cells in a battery bank during the charging and discharging process. A cost-effective LDR sensor is used to make the decisions based on the solar irradiance level and voltage state of the battery bank. For the maximum utilization of solar power, the MPPT is equipped with the proposed system. To analyze the performance of the proposed system, an 80 W of LED street light has been utilized with 230W of PV panel. The obtained experimental results illustrated that the proposed system is able to store the adequate amount of solar power for the street light during the low irradiance condition. © 2020 IEEE.
