With the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT), wearable devices have enabled real-time health monitoring, particularly through physiological signals like electrocardiograms (ECG). The standard 12-lead ECG records the electrical activity of the heart from multiple perspectives, providing valuable insights into cardiac health. However, existing 12-lead ECG analysis methods often treat leads as channel-level arrangements or rely on spatial adjacency to predefine lead connections, limiting their ability to capture the complex spatial and functional relationships between leads fully. To address this limitation, we propose TGLLNet, a task-driven model that automatically learns inter-lead relationships to improve multi-label ECG classification. TGLLNet adaptively learns lead connectivity patterns and relational strengths, enhancing ECG representation and improving model generalizability across tasks. Specifically, TGLLNet employs a Temporal Graph Construction (ETGC) module to convert ECG signals into temporal graphs and uses a Residual Pyramid Graph Convolution (RPG) module for multi-level graph embeddings, utilizing a Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) with independently learnable adjacency matrices. Combined with a Temporal Context Convolution (TCC) module, TGLLNet captures spatio-temporal dependencies, significantly improving ECG representation. Experimental results on 7 tasks from PTB-XL and CPSC2018 datasets demonstrate that TGLLNet outperforms existing methods, showing superior generalizability across different tasks. Lumiproxy:A Hybrid Representation of Image-Based Models

In this paper, we present a hybrid representation of image-based models combining the textured planes and the hierarchical points. Taking a set of depth images as input, our method starts from classifying input pixels into two categories, indicating the planar and non-planar surfaces respectively. For the planar surfaces, the geometric coefficients are reconstructed to form the uniformly sampled textures. For nearly planar surfaces, some textured planes, called lumiproxies, are constructed to represent the equivalent visual appearance. The Hough transform is used to find the positions of these textured planes, and optic flow measures are used to determine their textures. For remaining pixels corresponding to the non-planar geometries, the point primitive is applied, reorganized as the OBB-tree structure. Then, texture mapping and point splatting are employed together to render the novel views, with the hardware acceleration.

The role of moral intention and moral obligation in predicting attitudes toward avoiding AIgiarism: A protection motivation theory perspective

Traditional methods of combating plagiarism have proven ineffective due to the dual use of AI chatbots to plagiarize and avoid detection. Therefore, there is a growing rationale to focus on moral responsibility towards protecting academic integrity. This study investigated the impact of students' moral intentions and moral obligations on their attitudes toward avoiding AI-assisted plagiarism (AIgiarism). Data was collected from a representative group of 263 students and analyzed using “partial least squares structural equation modeling” (PLS-SEM) and “artificial neural network” (ANN). The results revealed that students' moral intentions and obligations positively influenced their attitudes towards avoiding AIgarism. “Protection motivation theory” (PMT) constructs positively predicted students' moral intentions. Moreover, the results of the ANN analysis showed that moral obligation and intention were the most critical factors influencing students’ attitudes toward avoiding plagiarism. This study will help educational institutions develop AI-supported anti-plagiarism solutions in areas such as identification, instilling moral responsibility, and creating an environment of trust and support. © 2025 The Authors

Emerging case oriented agents for sustaining educational institutions going green towards environmental responsibility

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to design a system deployment model that integrates case-based agent technique to develop an eco-responsibility decision support tool for greening educational institutions toward environmental responsibility. Design/methodology/approach: Data were collected through questionnaires distributed among a statistical population that comprised practitioners across educational institutions in Malaysia that implement green practices. The questionnaire measured the feasibility of the developed tool based on factors derived from the literature. Accordingly, descriptive, exploratory and factor analysis approach using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) was used to test the feasibility of the developed tool. Findings: Results from descriptive analysis confirm the tool is feasible based on mean values that range from 4.1619 to 3.6508 on a five-point scale, indicating that the tool is effective in sustaining educational institutions going green. Besides, results from exploratory analysis verify the reliability of the tool based on the acceptable Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient score higher than 0.7 and Kaiser–Meyer–Olkin value being above 0.5. Finally, results from factor analysis reveal that the developed tool is usable, efficient, helpful, flexible and credible and supports educational institutions in going green at 88.44 per cent of the total variance, suggesting that the respondents are satisfied with the tool. Research limitations/implications: The sample population in this study comprises only practitioners from educational institutions in Malaysia. Theoretically, this research provides feasibility factors and associated items that can be used in evaluating developed information systems. Practical implications: Practically, this study develops an eco-responsibility decision support tool to facilitate green strategies and provides information on how practitioners in educational institutions can improve green growth. computer vision (CV) is a subfield of computer science that enables machines to perceive, interpret, and understand visual data. It combines image processing, analysis, and machine learning to extract meaningful insights from images and videos. One key application of CV is the classification of gender from handwritten text images-a complex task, especially in languages such as Pashto due to the intricacy of the script and the limited resources. This research presents a novel approach to gender classification using Pashto Handwritten Text Images (PHTI). The study evaluates and compares the performance of traditional machine learning and modern deep learning models: Support Vector Machine (SVM) and You Only Look Once version 8 (YOLO8), a CNN-based object detection framework. The PHTI dataset, introduced in this study, consists of 36, 086 text line images written by 200 male and 200 female native Pashto writers. The goal is to assess how effectively SVM and YOLO8 can classify gender based on visual handwriting patterns in the Pashto language. The experimental results reveal that YOLO8 outperforms SVM in classification accuracy. Although SVM, a widely used machine learning model, achieved an accuracy of 61.29%, YOLO8 reached a significantly higher accuracy of 77% in the same data set. This performance gap highlights the advantages of using advanced deep learning models for complex pattern recognition tasks in CV. This research provides a pioneering contribution by focusing on Pashto, a low-resource language, in the context of gender classification using handwritten text images. It opens new pathways for applying CV in regional languages and supports the development of intelligent systems capable of handling various scripts. © 2013 IEEE.

GIPSY is a platform providing a framework for the compilation and execution of programs written in intensional programming languages of the Lucid family. While maintaining its use of intenskmality, over the years, Lucid constantly underwent changes in its syntax, and its semantics is getting more and more generalized. Throughout this hectic evolution of the language, various systems for the evaluation of Lucid programs were developed. Due to lack of ability to adapt to the syntax, and semantic changes of the language, all of them met with doom as new evolutions of the language were proposed. Set in this evolutionary aspect of Lucid, GIPSY aims at easing the development of the Lucid family of intensional programming languages by providing a common system into which variants of Lucid can be compiled and executed and, more interestingly, developed in the future. One of the latest evolutions of Lucid is the language Lucx, permitting the explicit use of contexts as first-class atomic entities. This paper presents the integration of Lucx's context calculus into GIPSY. We define the notion of context according to Lucx, its syntax and semantics, as well as operators on such contexts. We then present how context entities have been abstracted into implementation classes and embedded into GIPSY. © 2008 IEEE.
