The rapid proliferation of intelligent Internet of Health Things (IoHT) applications within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic has exerted significant strain on the backhaul network infrastructure. This paper aims to introduce a novel framework that leverages software-defined networking (SDN) to enhance edge computing capabilities. This framework will expect to facilitate dynamic and adaptable communication between edge and cloud servers, specifically designed to support real-time Internet of Health Things applications. Through the establishment of a connection between servers and the software-Defined Networking controller, the system is expected to facilitate load balancing, network optimization, and the utilization of resources in an efficient manner. This, in turn, enables the provision of real-time healthcare services. Ultimately, the efficacy of the suggested framework is assessed by analyzing its impact on service response time. The research results indicate that the proposed framework significantly benefits IoHT systems’ service response times across various workloads and traffic.

Interactive and Explainable Optimized Learning for DDoS Detection in Consumer IoT Networks

The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) in consumer environments enhances convenience and security while increasing Human-computer Interaction (HCI). However,this increased interactivity has also increased the vulnerability of Consumer IoT (CIoT) networks to cyber threats,mainly Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. The DDoS attacks,which vary in volume,present substantial challenges to these networks' operational integrity and customer trust. This paper introduces the Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven (ADEPT) system that utilizes explainable and optimized deep-ensemble learning with pruning for DDoS detection. The system uses attention-based ensemble DL for DDoS detection,combining Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks. To address the resource constraints of edge devices in CIoT networks,the system uses Differential Evolution (DE)-based pruning and quantization techniques,optimizing the model for efficient deployment on edge nodes while preserving high performance. An HCI interface is designed to allow network administrators and researchers to engage with the system through dynamic visualizations,facilitating complex data interpretation and empowering administrators to refine detection strategies. The interface,integrating SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) and risk assessment,enhances model transparency and interpretability,highlighting the synergy of HCI and AI. The ADEPT system is evaluated using an experimental testbed and CIoT datasets and has demonstrated over 90% accuracy in detecting high-and low-volume DDoS attacks. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

The global market of machine condition monitoring is projected to grow at a rate of 8.3% in next five years. The recent technological advancement in IoTs and AI has driven predictive maintenance to be one of the most effective approach in this domain. Vibration analysis is the most efficient technique used to carry out predictive maintenance, using advanced data- driven intelligent approaches. The vibration data carries most significant information regarding the health state of machine components especially bearings. The proposed hybrid framework utilizes CNN and transformer utilizing the complex weightsharing capabilities of CNNs, combined with ability of transformer to capture the broader context of spatial relationships in large-scale patterns, making it suitable for datasets of varying sizes. A fault detection accuracy of 98.86% is achieved through experimentation on a run-to-failure real-industrial environment dataset composed of vibration data of large-scale coaxial fans.

The Markov chain method has been adopted in this work to evaluate the performance of the synthetic double sampling (SynDS) np chart, which combines the double sampling (DS) np sub-chart and the conforming run length (CRL) sub-chart. In the literature, the performance of the existing SynDS np chart is investigated using average run length (ARL). It is found that the skewness of the run length (RL) distribution varies depending on the size of shift in the process fraction nonconforming, from being significantly right-skewed when the process is in-control (IC) or small shift to being nearly symmetric when the process shift is large. As a result, the true performance of the chart may differ from what the ARL displays. Thus, median run length (MRL) is recommended to represent the central tendency associated with the varying shapes of the RL distribution in accordance to the process shift sizes. This work suggests an optimal design approach for SynDS np chart based on MRL to monitor the process fraction nonconforming, under zero-state and steady-state modes. © 2022 IEEE.

We present a continuous reciprocal-kind Zhang dynamics(RKZD) model for solving the time-dependent linear matrixvector equation. On the basis of the model, we deduce its simplified form for solving the time-independent linear matrix-vector equation(TILMVE). Subsequently, for more efficient computation and easier implementation in digital hardware, we utilize Euler forward difference formula(EFDF) to discretize the continuous RKZD model, resulting in a discrete RKZD ***, numerical experimental results attest to the feasibility and high effectiveness of the discrete RKZD algorithm for solving TILMVE. Comparisons with the discrete gradient neural network(or termed discrete gradient dynamics), Jacobi iteration, as well as Gauss-Seidel iteration highlight the superior convergence properties of the discrete RKZD algorithm.

Explainable-AI-based two-stage solution for WSN object localization using zero-touch mobile transceivers

Artificial intelligence technology is widely used in the field of wireless sensor networks(WSN).Due to its inexplicability, the interference factors in the process of WSN object localization cannot be effectively eliminated. In this paper, an explainable-AI-based two-stage solution is proposed for WSN object localization. In this solution, mobile transceivers are used to enlarge the positioning range and eliminate the blind area for object localization. The motion parameters of transceivers are considered to be unavailable,and the localization problem is highly nonlinear with respect to the unknown parameters. To address this,an explainable AI model is proposed to solve the localization problem. Since the relationship among the variables is difficult to fully include in the first-stage traditional model, we develop a two-stage explainable AI solution for this localization problem. The two-stage solution is actually a comprehensive consideration of the relationship between variables. The solution can continue to use the constraints unused in the firststage during the second-stage, thereby improving the performance of the solution. Therefore, the two-stage solution has stronger robustness compared to the closed-form solution. Experimental results show that the performance of both the two-stage solution and the traditional solution will be affected by numerical changes in unknown parameters. However, the two-stage solution performs better than the traditional solution, especially with a small number of mobile transceivers and sensors or in the presence of high noise. Furthermore,we have also verified the feasibility of the proposed explainable-AI-based two-stage solution.

DasAtom: A Divide-and-Shuttle Atom Approach to Quantum Circuit Transformation

Neutral atom (NA) quantum systems are emerging as a leading platform for quantum computation, offering superior or competitive qubit count and gate fidelity compared to superconducting circuits and ion traps. However, the unique features of NA devices, such as long-range interactions, long qubit coherence time, and the ability to physically move qubits, present distinct challenges for quantum circuit compilation. In this paper, we introduce DasAtom, a novel divide-and-shuttle atom approach designed to optimise quantum circuit transformation for NA devices by leveraging these capabilities. DasAtom partitions circuits into subcircuits, each associated with a qubit mapping that allows all gates within the subcircuit to be directly executed. The algorithm then shuttles atoms to transition seamlessly from one mapping to the next, enhancing both execution efficiency and overall fidelity. For a 30-qubit Quantum Fourier Transform (QFT), DasAtom achieves a 415.8x improvement in fidelity over the move-based algorithm Enola and a 10.6x improvement over the SWAP-based algorithm Tetris. Notably, this improvement is expected to increase exponentially with the number of qubits, positioning DasAtom as a highly promising solution for scaling quantum computation on NA platforms. © 2024, CC BY.

The cuckoo search algorithm (CSA) is a natureinspired metaheuristic algorithm based on the parasitic behaviour of the cuckoo species, and it has received much attention for solving optimization problems. Nevertheless, the CSA still has some limitations when applied to optimization problems, such as easily falling into local optima and converging slowly. In this paper, we propose a modified local search method with an adaptive boundary scaling mechanism using a chaotic map, which calculates the search radius depending on the position of the current population. Thus, the search ability of the traditional CSA is improved for optimization purposes. To further verify the stability and effectiveness of the proposed adaptive boundary scaling algorithm (ACSA), we compare it with the traditional CSA and nonmodified chaos-embedded CSA (CCSA) on 25 test benchmark functions. The experimental and statistical test results show that the ACSA outperforms its competitors, which means that the proposed algorithm can perform better than these other approaches in terms of their search capabilities for optimization problems. © 2021 IEEE.

The main purpose for carrying out research on the adoption of the Internet banking services is due to the lack of empirical studies on Yemeni Internet banking services. The objective of this study is to explore and investigate the factors of technology–organization–environment theory (TOE) that play the main role in the implemention of Internet banking services by SMEs in Yemen. Four exogenous variables, one mediator, one moderator, and one endogenous variable make up the current study’s framework. The exogenous variables consist of security, relative advantages, government support, top management and organization readiness as mediator as well as organization type is moderator while the endogenous variables comprise of intention toward Internet banking (IB) for banks customers (SMEs). This research also identifies the role of organization readiness as mediating variable that impact SMEs’ intention to adopt Internet banking service and also the role of organization type as a moderator between organization readiness and Internet banking adoption. The current study’s sample included 314 people who were analyzed using partial least square PLS-SEM to look for causal links between the study’s latent variables. The findings showed that security, relative advantages, government support, top management, and organization readiness have a significance and positive effect on intention toward Internet banking adoption among SMEs in Yemen. Furthermore, the findings of the study reveal that organization readiness has a mediating influence on the relationship between TOE factors and intention toward IB adoption among SMEs. Moreover, the results indicate organization type moderates the relationship between organization readiness and intention to adopt IB.
