The design and development of the inter-process communication pattern called Pipeline is presented as a proposal of Parallel Object Composition to solve simple way problems that can be solved with this same parallel control structure. A particular class library called JPMI (Java Passing Message Interface) is used for parallel programming with message passing and to implement an original and particular version of the well-known video game called SIMON with the objective, on the one hand, to show the usefulness of this design within Structured Parallel Programming and, on the other hand, that this proposal serves to guarantee good performance in the execution of real time applications. An example of this type of applications is precisely video games. The parallel algorithm implemented as a Composition of Parallel Objects is based on the development and use of a methodology where the algorithmic design represents the parallel control structure common to a given algorithmic technique that can use the pipeline communication pattern, generating a generic and abstract parallel program from which programs that solve specific problems using the same communication pattern can be derived. The implementation of this proposal within structured parallel programming tries to facilitate to the novice programmer in parallelism the reusability, genericity, and uniformity of code abstract enough to be suitable for any problem that can be solved with a pipeline offered implemented with a parallel message passing structure. This particularized proposal for the implementation of the SIMON video game is compared with another using a thread library called boost and ZeroC Ice for remote invocation of distributed objects. The execution times and speedups of both proposals are compared to identify how similar or different they are in their respective performances with training tests using AI modules with sequences of 500000 colors in a cluster of 2 Intel Xeon CPUs of 8 cores each and 2 nodes,

What distinguishes the field of artificial intelligence (AI) from others is to develop fully independent agents that learn optimal behavior, change, and evolve solely through the communication of trial and error with the surrounding environment. Reinforcement learning (RL) can be seen in multiple aspects of Machine Learning (ML), provided the environment, reward, actions, the state will be defined. Agent training in previous years is seen to only relate to robotics, games, and self-driving cars. While trying to divert the focus of researchers from the view of self-driving cars, games, robots, etc. Here, we investigated using reinforcement learning in the aspect of task completion. We deployed our architecture in an inpainting task where the agent generates the distorted or missing image content into an eminent fidelity completed the image by using reinforcement learning to influence the generative model utilized. The Generative Adversary Network (GAN) problem of not being steady and challenging to train was overwhelmed by utilizing latent space representation. The dimension is reduced compared to the distorted or corrupted image in training the GAN. Then reinforcement learning was deployed to pick the correct GAN input to get the image's latent space representation that is most suitable for the current input of the missing or distorted image region. In this paper, we also learned that the trained agent enhances the accuracy in a classification task of images with missing data. We successfully examined the classification enhancement on images missing 30%, 50%, and 70%. © 2021 IEEE.

SYNFER: TOWARDS BOOSTING FACIAL EXPRESSION RECOGNITION WITH SYNTHETIC DATA

Facial expression datasets remain limited in scale due to privacy concerns, the subjectivity of annotations, and the labor-intensive nature of data collection. This limitation poses a significant challenge for developing modern deep learning-based facial expression analysis models, particularly foundation models, that rely on large-scale data for optimal performance. To tackle the overarching and complex challenge, we introduce SynFER (Synthesis of Facial Expressions with Refined Control), a novel framework for synthesizing facial expression image data based on high-level textual descriptions as well as more fine-grained and precise control through facial action units. To ensure the quality and reliability of the synthetic data, we propose a semantic guidance technique to steer the generation process and a pseudo-label generator to help rectify the facial expression labels for the synthetic images. To demonstrate the generation fidelity and the effectiveness of the synthetic data from SynFER, we conduct extensive experiments on representation learning using both synthetic data and real-world data. Experiment results validate the efficacy of the proposed approach and the synthetic data. Notably, our approach achieves a 67.23% classification accuracy on AffectNet when training solely with synthetic data equivalent to the AffectNet training set size, which increases to 69.84% when scaling up to five times the original size. The need for software improvement is growing widely due to the demand for technology development. The issues that arise by expanding the software processes in the workplace are expense, lack of understanding, time constrained, and lack user experience. This research paper focuses on proposing a framework for integrating design thinking into software process improvement. The secret to project success may lie in fusing methodological and reusable approaches with human-centric techniques. A mixed-methods research strategy is proposed to compile thorough information and reach conclusions. In addition, it incorporates components of both qualitative and quantitative research (secondary research and descriptive analysis). The assumption is that the existing model significantly affects the user satisfaction variable. This indicates a statistically significant association between the individual's experience (number of years) and design thinking integration into the software process improvement. The variables in the proposed model and the dependent variable user satisfaction accounts for 6.1 © 2024 IEEE.

Phishing is a cyber threat where attackers create deceptive websites or emails to exploit individuals for fraudulent purposes such as providing sensitive information like usernames, passwords, or financial details. Hence, detecting phishing emails is of paramount importance to protect sensitive information, preventing financial losses, protecting against identity theft, and maintaining trust. This study employs machine learning techniques to classify and categorize websites that are used for phishing attacks. To achieve this, we proposed a classification model for the detection of phishing domains based on classification rules. These rules were formulated based on analyzing and distributing them into three classifiers: domain name features, search engine opinion (SEO) information of the domain, and security scans by security vendors. A total of eleven classification rules were formulated which were distributed as follows: six rules for the first classifier, four rules for the second classifier, and one rule for the third classifier. Each classifier feeds its results to the main classifier, which then evaluates the received results based on its rules. Domain names from 222 confirmed phishing URLs were used to test the suggested model. The model demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving an impressive accuracy rate of 99.1% during testing. © 2023 IEEE.

A holistic railway infrastructure digital twin (DT) platform is sophisticated and consists of a series of submodels (e.g., turnouts, tracks, vehicles, etc.) that are built through various methodologies and software. However, integrating these submodels into the DT platform is tremendously challenging due to considerable computational complexity, software and interface restrictions. To this end, we designed a machine learning (ML) based surrogate modeling methodology for the submodel integration in the holistic railway infrastructure DT platform and illustrated the methodology through a case study. In this case study, an ML-based surrogate model for multibody simulation of railway vehicle-track dynamics is created, which can replace the railway vehicle-track simulation executed with the Multibody Dynamics (MBD) Simulation commercial software SimPACK. The well-built ML model can accurately and quickly predict the vehicle-track system's dynamic responses to different track irregularities. Besides, the integration process of the ML-based surrogate model into the DT platform through a standardized open-source Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI) is also proposed. The developed surrogate modeling methodology shows great promise owing to its high fidelity, which is verified by the measurement data collected from the Austrian national railway track system. The main contribution of our work lies in the well-built ML-based surrogate modeling methodology for reducing the computation complexity and time of different submodels, which facilitates the unification and integration of different submodels. Furthermore, this approach can also be applied to other submodels and help to build the holistic railway DT platform collaboratively. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V. Fast target-aware learning for few-shot video object segmentation

Few-shot video object segmentation(FSVOS) aims to segment a specific object throughout a video sequence when only the first-frame annotation is given. In this study, we develop a fast target-aware learning approach for FSVOS, where the proposed approach adapts to new video sequences from its firstframe annotation through a lightweight procedure. The proposed network comprises two models. First, the meta knowledge model learns the general semantic features for the input video image and up-samples the coarse predicted mask to the original image size. Second, the target model adapts quickly from the limited support set. Concretely, during the online inference for testing the video, we first employ fast optimization techniques to train a powerful target model by minimizing the segmentation error in the first frame and then use it to predict the subsequent frames. During the offline training, we use a bilevel-optimization strategy to mimic the full testing procedure to train the meta knowledge model across multiple video *** proposed method is trained only on an individual public video object segmentation(VOS) benchmark without additional training sets and compared favorably with state-of-the-art methods on DAVIS-2017, with a J &F overall score of 71.6%, and on YouT ubeVOS-2018, with a J &F overall score of 75.4%. Meanwhile,a high inference speed of approximately 0.13 s per frame is maintained.

In this paper, a novel chatbot for risk reduction as an aid during machinery design is presented. The general workflow of the chatbot involves the identification of the hazard described by the user using a neural network model followed by an interactive dialog based conversation, in which the risk reduction measures are outlined. A prototype implementation of the chatbot presents the steps to generate and pre-process the training data for Artificial Intelligence (AI) based models. Different neural network models are trained and evaluated for the proposed risk reduction chatbot. A comparative study is presented by employing an in-depth qualitative and quantitative evaluation. The work presented in this paper shows significant promise in ensuring safety awareness, thereby aiding in implementing functional safety in the early stages of machinery design and development.

Cybersecurity has become a significant concern for automotive manufacturers as modern cars increasingly incorporate electronic components. Electronic Control Units (ECUs) have evolved to become the central control units for critical car functions such as engines and brakes, experiencing rapid technological advancements. However, this swift progression in ECU technology has also made them prime targets for cyber attacks. This vulnerability has spurred researchers to focus on securing ECUs. Numerous studies have proposed intrusion detection systems (IDS) to protect against attacks on ECUs in vehicles. Yet, these IDSs are not impenetrable; attackers can exploit them by launching evasion attacks, which can trigger numerous false positive alarms. Such false alarms can be disruptive and potentially hazardous for drivers. Additionally, attackers can evade IDSs from detecting malicious data that can cause harm to the vehicle. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose a novel training framework to train a robust in-vehicle IDS that can encounter evasion attacks. Our methodology is based on implementing two rounds of mimic learning technique for training Random Forest (RF) based IDS. RF has been chosen to incorporate the randomness of the RF architecture to enhance the robustness of the model. Additionally, in each round of the two rounds of the mimic learning technique, an RF model with a different architecture is chosen to improve the resilience of the model against evasion attacks without affecting its accuracy. Our Experimental results have shown the effectiveness of our framework against evasion attacks.

This study analyses the weekly scheduling challenge of health and medical information network service function chains to meet medical emergency categorization and grading needs. Emergency services are divided into four sorts by urgency and service area, with priorities and weights. The health and medical information network architecture, service model, and operation method are built accordingly. To reduce weighted completion time, a service function chain scheduling model is created. The function chain scheduling scheme is solved by matching game and Q -learning reinforcement learning algorithms for different issue scales. Finally, simulation studies demonstrate that this approach can accomplish graded medical emergency service, build health and medical information networks, and progress smart healthcare. © 2024 IEEE.
