Multi feature content based video retrieval using high level semantic concept

Content-based retrieval allows finding information by searching its content rather than its attributes. The challenge facing content-based video retrieval (CBVR) is to design systems that can accurately and automatically process large amounts of heterogeneous videos. Moreover, content-based video retrieval system requires in its first stage to segment the video stream into separate shots. Afterwards features are extracted for video shots representation. And finally, choose a similarity/distance metric and an algorithm that is efficient enough to retrieve query - related videos results. There are two main issues in this process;the first is how to determine the best way for video segmentation and key frame selection. The second is the features used for video representation. Various features can be extracted for this sake including either low or high level features. A key issue is how to bridge the gap between low and high level features. This paper proposes a system for a content based video retrieval system that tries to address the aforementioned issues by using adaptive threshold for video segmentation and key frame selection as well as using both low level features together with high level semantic object annotation for video representation. Experimental results show that the use of multi features increases both precision and recall rates by about 13% to 19 % than traditional system that uses only color feature for video retrieval. © 2012 International Journal of computer science Issues.

Least association rules are corresponded to the rarity or irregularity relationship among itemset in database. Mining these rules is very difficult and rarely focused since it always involves with infrequent and exceptional cases. In certain medical data, detecting these rules is very critical and most valuable. However, mathematical formulation and evaluation of the new proposed measurement are not really impressive. Therefore, in this paper we applied our novel measurement called Critical Relative Support (CRS) to mine the critical least association rules from medical dataset. We also employed our scalable algorithm called Significant Least Pattern Growth algorithm (SLP-Growth) to mine the respective association rules. Experiment with two benchmarked medical datasets, Breast Cancer and Cardiac Single Proton Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) Images proves that CRS can be used to detect to the pertinent rules and thus verify its scalability.

Our previous study successfully improved short term memory by individual alpha neurofeedback training. However, short term memory and its improvement in different languages are still not clear. Therefore, the purpose of this paper was to evaluate the memory performance in alphabetic and ideographic language groups. Besides, the relationship between initial memory and its improvement was investigated. The results indicated short term memory in ideographic language was higher than those in alphabetic language and forward digit span improvement was positive related to its initial performance.

Digital watermarking is the process to hide digital pattern directly into a digital content. Digital watermarking techniques are used to address digital rights management, protect information and conceal secrets. An invisible non-blind watermarking approach for gray scale images is proposed in this paper. The host image is decomposed into 3-levels using Discrete Wavelet Transform. Based on the parent-child relationship between the wavelet coefficients the Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Trees (SPIHT) compression algorithm is performed on the LH3, LH2, HL3 and HL2 subbands to find out the significant coefficients. The most significant coefficients of LH2 and HL2 bands are selected to embed a binary watermark image. The selected significant coefficients are modulated using Noise Visibility Function, which is considered as the best strength to ensure better imperceptibility. The approach is tested against various image processing attacks such as addition of noise, filtering, cropping, JPEG compression, histogram equalization and contrast adjustment. The experimental results reveal the high effectiveness of the method. © 2012 International Journal of computer science Issues.

Comfortable amplitudes of rhythmic forearm movements increase as periods increase. To explain this phenomenon in the horizontal plane, it has been suggested that the nervous system prefers a high-stability movement under a feedforward control of the musculo-skeletal system. Here we tested this hypothesis in the vertical plane. The experimental measurement and the stability analysis of the nonlinear muscle model were performed. The stability analysis of the musculoskeletal model showed a wide range of high-stability conditions, which cannot clearly explain the experimentally observed period-amplitude relationship. Reasons for the unclear results were discussed.

This paper describes an unconstrained measurement system for scratching motion. We have proposed an unconstrained bed monitoring system by piezoceramic sensors that could detect heartbeat respiration and body movement. The system could measure the bed vibrations due to the motion of the person on the bed. In this paper, we apply this unconstrained bed sensing method to the system for detecting scratching motion. The proposed sensors are placed under the bed feet. When the subject is lying on the bed, the output signals from the sensors are proportional to the magnitude of the vibration due to the body movement of the subject. Hence, it is possible to detect the subject's scratching motion from the output signals. Furthermore, also with output signals from the three ceramic sensors, the proposed system can detect the direction of the body movement, which enables us to estimate the scratched area. We evaluated three scratching motions using the proposed system in the validity experiment as follows: Case 1 is the subject's scratching the right cheek with right hand;Case 2 is the subject's scratching the back after turning over, and;Case 3 is the subject's scratching the shin with another foot. As the results of the experiment, we identified the scratching signals that enable the determination when the scratching occurred. Furthermore, the difference among the amplitudes of the output signals enabled us to estimate where the subject scratched.

WLAN Device-free passive (DfP) indoor localization is an emerging technology enabling the localization of entities that do not carry any devices nor participate actively in the localization process using the already installed wireless infrastructure. This technology is useful for a variety of applications such as intrusion detection, smart homes and border protection. We present the design, implementation and evaluation of RASID, a DfP system for human motion detection. RASID combines different modules for statistical anomaly detection while adapting to changes in the environment to provide accurate, robust, and low-overhead detection of human activities using standard WiFi hardware. Evaluation of the system in two different testbeds shows that it can achieve an accurate detection capability in both environments with an F-measure of at least 0.93. In addition, the high accuracy and low overhead performance are robust to changes in the environment as compared to the current state of the art DfP detection systems.

With the rapid growth of wireless technologies and increasing number of mobile digital devices, mobility has been an important element on the Internet. NEMO Basic Support, designed by the Internet engineering Task Force (IETF) to provide network mobility, is not efficient to offer low latency handoff in the case of nested mobile networks because it produces a long transfer delay and excessively large packet sizes due to non-optimal routes and multiple encapsulations. This paper presents a route optimization scenario for nested mobile network using hierarchical structure with Binding Update Tree (BUT). This scheme should reduce packet overhead, handoff latency, packet transmission delay, and achieve optimal routing.

In this paper, we report the investigation of monitoring the degradation of transformer oil in power transformer using fiber Bragg grating sensor (FBG). The findings show that aging transformer oil has a higher refractive index (RI) compared to fresh transformer oil. This is detected by a wavelength shift in the FBG sensor's spectral response. The outcome complies with the breakdown voltage test which is the standard test for testing transformer oil ageing. Finally, we show that the sensor is temperature independent.
