Several similarity measures such as Euclidean Distance, Histogram Intersection, Cosine or Quadratic Distances are usually used to calculate the images similarity rating. However, each of the distances has their own limitations when used in particular situation or application. This paper reports a preliminary study of current similarity measures used based on histogram matching. Few experiments on image and color histograms are also presented and discussed. Images of Oil Palm Fruits are used to estimate for its ripeness. This paper will point out the use of existing similarity measures to find the most suitable and efficient one for that particular application.

The approach to development methods which are described in paper allows possibility extension for minimizing costs and widely external hardware industrial control systems utilization. There is described development method of control applications by industrial WinPLC/WinPAC and REX control compiler in comparison to classical development methods that need expensive RT measurement cards and produce only one purpose development solution. The project is based on specification of development process of designed control schemas of prepared applications to an industrial utilization by direct connection and implementation to the chosen control system WinPLC/WinPAC. Paper deals with a way how to produce a solution for control applications that are prepared, designed and implemented in MATLAB-Simulink to the target platform. The multiplatform control system REX is used as a bridge between MATLAB and target platform.

We have developed a practical urea monitor based on a chemiluminescent (CL) reaction of urea and hypobromous acid produced by electrolysis of sodium bromide (NaBr) for measuring urea concentration in spent dialysate at set intervals. A reagent containing 4×10-2 M hypobromous acid is produced by electrolysis of an electrolyte containing 5.9 M NaBr and 0.2 M sodium hydroxide (NaOH). Chemiluminescence is emitted by injection of spent hemodialysis fluid (0.11 ml) into the reagent, and the CL-intensity is measured by a photomultiplier tube using the photon counting technique. The CL-intensity is proportional to the 0.9th power of the urea concentration between 7×10-4 and 2×10-2 M. The urea monitor can determine the urea concentration in spent dialysate samples collected from the waste line of a dialyzer, and the time for the intermittent measurements including the cleaning cycle of the reaction chamber is 3 min. The urea concentrations measured by the monitor are in close agreement with those measured by the conventional enzyme colorimetric method using urease for the spent dialysate collected during a hemodialysis treatment, and the correlation coefficient is 0.93. © 2010 the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

Localization and responded accordingly are the most challenging and important issues in reconfigurable microstrip antenna (RMA). Hence, the challenges of combining Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology into the RMA are outlined. Integrating RFID into RMA is very important in wireless communication systems since the technologies have the ability to predict exact location of the users. In this paper, discussion and analyze approaches relying on the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) had been done intensively. The received signal strength was measured with respect to distance. From this aspect, RSSI is believed could be used for evaluating distance between base station or central and RFID tags. The RFID tag was used in the system is responsible for the central to facilitate location tracking of the user. RSSI will provide the distance estimation and yield the real time localization of users. Based on certain level of RSSI, RMA will respond accordingly by supplying coverage around the area. RMA with PIN diodes switches enabled altering the radiation pattern electronically by microcontroller development board (MDB) which is responding to the RFID tag. Indirectly, this system has the ability to control degree of radiation pattern (narrower or broader) adaptively to the distance between central and the tag. Through an outdoor testing and deep analysis of RFID and RMA, a form of new system architecture that combines the two technologies is proposed and its feasibility, technical challenges are discussed thoroughly. Finally, the measurement and calculation results had shown the combination between these two technologies in producing a new method of RMA had proven successfully.

Website Personalization is one of strategic technique in delivering services in online applications. A part of process for building personalization applications is to collect particular information from the user which involves information sharing. However, the awareness about privacy concerns and security threats have caused to non-sharing behavior among the Internet Users. This situation have caused website personalization cannot be built to serve its purposes. This paper aims to investigate the people's behavior and to study the propensity of information sharing attitude in two different environments and cultures. The two environments are between real-life and online while the two cultures are between Malaysian and non-Malaysian. Since this is an exploratory study, interview with five (5) persons have been conducted. The qualitative technique that chooses was recommended for any exploratory study. The findings of this study explained the understanding of behaviors and the factors of Information Sharing. The factors are the cultural factors, the platform of sharing and the behavior of information sharing in web personalization. The sharing behavior in two environments and cultures were also compared. The data collected from the interviews have generalizing the speculations and issues in information sharing which have been discussed at the end section of this paper.

Traffic congestion is the cause of pollution and economic loss. The Real time traffic state report can alleviate this problem by assisting drivers for route planning and choosing unblocked roads. More traffic information could lead to more accurate route planning and greater awareness of traffic situations and road conditions for drivers. However, investment into sensor infrastructure for small minor roads is rarely available. In this paper, we present a cost efficient approach to compute real time traffic congestion degrees for non-sensor infrastructure roads, such as small minor roads, based on context fusion and context reasoning method. Our framework intends to utilize real time acquirable context instead of relying on traffic sensory data which made our approach suitable for insufficient sensor infrastructure environment. The evaluation throughout several experimentations conducted in Bangkok has proven the feasibility of our approach. Besides, the experimental result indicated that the methodology of our experiment can be used as an alternative cost efficient tool for infrastructure investment decision making. ©2010 IEEE.

Healthcare organization is very important for community in delivering a healthy life. Nurse is the person in charge that will handle the healthcare organization wisely. The nurses should get their duty roster with a wide hand to deliver a good service. There are some issue related to that needs to be classified such as the modes of operation and constraints. The most desirable environment for the nurses is the balance workload roster that will consider any preferences from them that is possible to achieve due to aim to give a respect and care about. Besides that, the solution approach that can be applied in their field must be clarified. In this paper, we will discuss the entire thing about the nurse rostering problem such as its constraints, the modes of operation, the process to complete a roster and the solution approach to this problem.

Sensor network terminals are installed in large numbers in the field and transmit data periodically by radio. Such terminals must be miniaturized, and save power so that each device can operate by battery for several years. As one way to satisfy these two conditions, in this research we propose a terminal design which eliminates the receiver circuit. Because there is no receiver circuit, circuitry can be miniaturized, and power can be saved because there is no need to consume power to receive signals. However, the terminals cannot perform carrier detection and reception acknowledgement because there is no receiver circuit. We propose following two new protocols to solve this problem.

Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) was used to study changes in cerebral blood oxygenation during a verbal fluency task. Five right-handed male volunteers matched on demographic variables and verbal fluency performance participated in the study. Images were acquired over 5 minutes at 1.5 T while the subjects performed two tasks. The first involved paced silent generation of words beginning with an aurally presented cue letter. This task alternated with paced silent repetition of the aurally presented word "rest." Significant responses were observed in the left prefrontal cortex, the insula bilaterally, the midline supplementary motor area, and the medial parietal cortex.
