It is a matter of fact that Europe is facing more and more crucial challenges regarding health and social care due to the demographic change and the current economic context. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has stressed this situation even further, thus highlighting the need for taking action. Active and Assisted Living (AAL) technologies come as a viable approach to help facing these challenges, thanks to the high potential they have in enabling remote care and support. Broadly speaking, AAL can be referred to as the use of innovative and advanced Information and Communication Technologies to create supportive, inclusive and empowering applications and environments that enable older, impaired or frail people to live independently and stay active longer in society. AAL capitalizes on the growing pervasiveness and effectiveness of sensing and computing facilities to supply the persons in need with smart assistance, by responding to their necessities of autonomy, independence, comfort, security and safety. The application scenarios addressed by AAL are complex, due to the inherent heterogeneity of the end-user population, their living arrangements, and their physical conditions or impairment. Despite aiming at diverse goals, AAL systems should share some common characteristics. They are designed to provide support in daily life in an invisible, unobtrusive and user-friendly manner. Moreover, they are conceived to be intelligent, to be able to learn and adapt to the requirements and requests of the assisted people, and to synchronise with their specific needs. Nevertheless, to ensure the uptake of AAL in society, potential users must be willing to use AAL applications and to integrate them in their daily environments and lives. In this respect, video- and audio-based AAL applications have several advantages, in terms of unobtrusiveness and information richness. This paper is about the installation of trust in the Semantic Web content of the Digital Reference (DR). The DR was developed in H2020/ECSEL/Productive4.0, which contains ontologies to model production and Cyber Physical systems addressing the whole industrial automation and control area. It should serve as a quasi-standard for digitalization in the domain of semiconductors and corresponding supply chains to overcome the partial incompatibility problem of existing *** Web is a success story in the B2C (Business to consumer) environment as it is understandable for both humans and machines alike. To transfer this success of easy data exchange into the complex industrial B2B (Business to business) environment, a much higher quality is required - a standardization of the classes and properties. The confidence in standards usually comes from human verification, validation and confirmation, which has the disadvantage of being slow. Machine validation could be faster but often lacks confidence. Thus, how can trust be installed to ensure the "correctness" of the used classes and properties in a speedy process?We propose a human and machine blended approach based on peer review and Blockchain technology built on decentralized peer-to-peer networks to solve this problem. The consensus process combines transparency, traceability, immutability and speed of Blockchain with the fidelity of human experts.

The problems of information security are persistent in the business environment and public and private institutions for this reason, in this research biometric algorithms are considered as an alternative to mitigate the security of information;through biometric authentication used for the identification and verification of users based on the physical characteristics of the individual such as fingerprint, face, iris and voice. The objective is to perform the analysis of efficient biometric algorithms to mitigate the integrity of a distributed database. The deductive method was used to analyze the information of the articles related to this investigation. It resulted from this research an alternative of modified algorithm that can be applied in different types of authentication by biometrics, but not in all functions efficiently. It was concluded that, depending on the type of authentication that will be implemented;fingerprint, facial recognition, iris, voice, an efficient algorithm of the analyzed was used;with the objective of mitigating the integrity of the information in a distributed database without relying on the technological infrastructure. © 2018 IEEE.

Neuronal signals generally represent activation of the neuronal networks and give insights into brain functionalities. They are considered as fingerprints of actions and their processing across different structures of the brain. These recordings generate a large volume of data that are susceptible to noise and artifacts. Therefore, the review of these data to ensure high quality by automatically detecting and removing the artifacts is imperative. Toward this aim, this work proposes a custom-developed automatic artifact removal toolbox named, SANTIA (SigMate Advanced: a Novel Tool for Identification of Artifacts in Neuronal Signals). Developed in Matlab, SANTIA is an open-source toolbox that applies neural network-based machine learning techniques to label and train models to detect artifacts from the invasive neuronal signals known as local field potentials. © 2021, The Author(s).

The Development of Self-Service Application at Martabak Air Mancur Restaurant

The amount of time spent in requesting and waiting for the meal in Martabak Air Mancur restaurant may permanently multiply the number of customers in the line waiting especially during peak hours and on weekend. It will affect the quality service of the restaurant and the loyalty of the customer. From the observation, most of the customers spent a great deal of time making an order when faced with many proportionate choices. The study proposed a system by using self-service technology and the waterfall model. In the beginning, the time needed from making an order to finishing the payment is 15 minutes. The system built can reduce the transaction time to 10 minutes.

Developing countries are the main state of the global urban population growth. The trend creates unprecedented technology challenges. In developing countries, technologies are enabling progress on urban functionality, productivity, and livability. In response to that need, the Working Group 5 in the International Telecommunication Union's -Telecommunication (ITU-T) that forms the Focus Group on Smart Sustainable Cities (FG-SSC) provides the specific dimension and develops technical reports, specifications, and others that make cities smart and *** the wide range of literature that exists on the topic of global smart cities, there are differences that characterize the smart city application needs for each region, especially in a developing country. This paper defines dimensions of smart city application and how the development refers to be the better understanding of what constitutes a smart city is. It was determined that institutions, public and private worldwide have problems in confidentiality, integrity and authentication in information;due to this it is necessary to look for other alternatives to mitigate these risks and vulnerabilities;such as rules based on security algorithms. The objective is to adopt a prototype of an algorithm based on the MD5 using flowchart techniques;considering the HIPAA rules. It was used the deductive method and exploratory research to analyze the information of the articles reviewed. A prototype of an algorithm based on the MD5 was obtained using flowchart techniques;considering the HIPAA rules. It was concluded that the adoption of a prototype in an algorithm based on the MD5 is an alternative to improve the security of the information;in view what the password stored in the database is not the password of the real user, due to the encryption, considering the HIPAA rules;this will allow to mitigate the integrity of the information in the database of the Registry Civil of the Ecuador. © 2018 IEEE.

. A crucial conduct norm for a sensor network is to avoid network failures and packet drop. One of the other essential requirements is to effectively manage the energy levels of the nodes according to the states of the operation required for an application. This paper proposes an energy management model with the aim of allowing energy optimization of Radio Frequency (RF) enabled Sensor Networks (RSN) through Energy Harvesting (EH) and Energy Transfer (ET) techniques. The harvested and transferred energy is used by the RSN tags to maintain the energy levels of the network and prevent dead state of a node. It is observed that these Energy Management (EM) techniques are different from the existing solutions in the literature, where managing the energy consumption by the transceivers and the radio is tedious in integrated systems of sensors and tags. Stochastic Backscattering Algorithm (SBA) based on the trade-off between EH rate and transmission range is also proposed. Performance analysis of the proposed EM model is carried out by characterizing the RSN nodes using Semi Markov Decision Process (SMDP). Numerical results show that through RF-based EH and SBA based ET, the lifetime of the network can be improved by around 25%, comparatively to conventional sensor networks. The results are quantified empirically for Internet of Things (IoT) contexts in terms of energy costs, lifetime of sensors and successful packet transmission. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Background: Recent studies have reported that air pollution is related to kidney diseases. However, the global evidence on the risk of death from acute kidney injury (AKI) owing to air pollution is limited. Therefore, we investigated the association between short-term exposure to air pollution—particulate matter ≤ 2.5 μm (PM2.5), ozone (O3), and nitrogen dioxide (NO2)—and AKI-related mortality using a multi-country dataset. Methods: This study included 41,379 AKI-related deaths in 136 locations in six countries during 1987–2018. A novel case time-series design was applied to each air pollutant during 0–28 lag days to estimate the association between air pollution and AKI-related deaths. Moreover, we calculated AKI deaths attributable to non-compliance with the World Health Organization (WHO) air quality guidelines. Results: The relative risks (95% confidence interval) of AKI-related deaths are 1.052 (1.003, 1.103), 1.022 (0.994, 1.050), and 1.022 (0.982, 1.063) for 5, 10, and 10 µg/m3 increase in lag 0–28 days of PM2.5, warm-season O3, and NO2, respectively. The lag-distributed association showed that the risk appeared immediately on the day of exposure to air pollution, gradually decreased, and then increased again reaching the peak approximately 20 days after exposure to PM2.5 and O3. We also found that 1.9%, 6.3%, and 5.2% of AKI deaths were attributed to PM2.5, warm-season O3, and NO2 concentrations above the WHO guidelines. Conclusions: This study provides evidence that public health policies to reduce air pollution may alleviate the burden of death from AKI and suggests the need to investigate the several pathways between air pollution and AKI death. © 2023 The Author(s)
