Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) is a serious medical condition characterized by the abnormal enlargement of the abdominal aorta. If left untreated, AAA can have life-threatening consequences. Accurate segmentation of the aorta in Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) images plays a vital role in treatment planning for AAA. However, manual and semi-automatic segmentation methods suffer from limitations in terms of time and accuracy. This study presents a deep learning pipeline that aims to fully automate the precise and efficient segmentation of the aorta and its branches within CTA images. A two-step approach is proposed for the segmentation of the aorta and its branches in contrast-enhanced CTA scans. The first step involves utilizing a UNet++ model to perform aortic segmentation across the entire set of CTA axial slices. In the second step, a post processing algorithm is employed to track the continuity of the segmented aorta while effectively discarding false positive (FP) objects. The assessment of the fully automated method revealed remarkable outcomes, with a mean Dice coefficient of 0.941 on a test set consisting of 10 CTA scans. The automated segmentation results are utilized to create a comprehensive 3D model. The study results indicate that the utilization of the proposed deep learning-based pipeline is highly effective in achieving accurate segmentation of the aortic lumen and its branches. The practical implications of this approach extend to pre-operative planning. This highlights the valuable contribution of the proposed method in improving the management and treatment of patients diagnosed with aortic aneurysm.

The incorporation of mmWave technology in vehicular networks has unlocked a realm of possibilities, propelling the advancement of autonomous vehicles, enhancing interconnectedness, and facilitating communication for intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Despite these strides in connectivity, challenges such as high path-loss have arisen, impacting existing beam management procedures. This work aims to address this issue by improving beam management techniques, specifically focusing on enhancing the service time between vehicles and base stations through adaptive mmWave beamwidth adjustments, accomplished using a Contextual Multi-Armed Bandit Algorithm. By leveraging various conditions to train the ML agent of the Contextual Multi-Armed Bandit Algorithm, it seeks to learn about vehicle mobility profiles and optimize the usage of different antenna beamwidth settings to maximize seamless connection time. The extensive simulation results showcase the effectiveness of an adaptive beamwidth for mobility profiles, extending the connection time a vehicle experiences with a base station when compared to the existing strategies. © 2023 IEEE.

Group scheduling problems have attracted much attention owing to their many practical *** work proposes a new bi-objective serial-batch group scheduling problem considering the constraints of sequence-dependent setup time,release time,and due *** is originated from an important industrial process,i.e.,wire rod and bar rolling process in steel production *** objective functions,i.e.,the number of late jobs and total setup time,are minimized.A mixed integer linear program is established to describe the *** obtain its Pareto solutions,we present a memetic algorithm that integrates a population-based nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II and two single-solution-based improvement methods,i.e.,an insertion-based local search and an iterated greedy *** computational results on extensive industrial data with the scale of a one-week schedule show that the proposed algorithm has great performance in solving the concerned problem and outperforms its *** high accuracy and efficiency imply its great potential to be applied to solve industrial-size group scheduling problems.

Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) are considered crucial for real-time vehicle-to-vehicle communication, which in turn enhances the efficiency of traffic and road safety. VANETs are very vulnerable to Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks, which seriously disrupt communication and degrade network performance. This paper introduces a high-performance neural network-based detection and prevention mechanism that can effectively counter DoS attacks. The proposed method is initiated with the real-time monitoring of the network. Data collection and preprocessing through the Adaptive Self-Guided Loop Filter (ASGLF) are used to filter out noise from the data. The Fast Hybrid Vision Transformer (FHVT) conducts feature extraction for network traffic to effectively preserve the spatial and temporal relationships. Using the Reflecting Equivariant Quantum Neural Network (REQNN) integrated with Heterogeneous Edge-Enhanced Graph Attention Network (HEEGAT) ensures timely anomaly detection accuracy of attacks. Subtraction-Average-Based Optimizer (SAO) optimizes the detection parameters to effectively utilize resources. The experimental results have shown accuracy in the detection of DoS attacks as 99.9% with a PDR of 99.9% and also improved throughput efficiency by 99.8%. These results validate the effectiveness of the proposed model in securing VANETs from DoS attacks, offering uninterrupted network availability and improved vehicular communication security for intelligent transportation systems. © 2025 IEEE.

Citizen science should adhere as much as possible to the ideas of open science. On the topic of data sharing, the FAIR principles could be applied, making data as open as possible and as closed as necessary. However, it is unclear how open participants want to be with health-related data that is collected as part of a citizen science project. The current study is a first investigation of this topic with a multidisciplinary group of stakeholders and experts in a citizen science for health project. In two focus group discussions we discussed the views and desires regarding the sharing of data and the preferences for the levels of openness when sharing. The results of this study provide preliminary preferences regarding openness;people find sharing of data important yet not all are comfortable with making data completely open. Therefore, it was chosen to share metadata of our projects in repositories, and provide the full, anonymized or pseudonimized, dataset upon reasonable request. Recent learning-based light field (LF) disparity estimation methods construct cost volume by sequentially shifting each sub-aperture image (SAI) with a series of predefined offsets. They only use the visual information of SAIs and lose the geometry of LF. In this paper, we design a simple network that can cleverly integrate EPI features with cost volume to estimate the disparity. Firstly, we propose an efficient EPI extraction module to use abundant line characteristics. Secondly, we offer an EPI-Cost volume construction module that can create volume guided by the EPI line and the color consistency of images. Finally, after completing it, we adopt an inter-volume fusion module to considerably correlate the validity of EPI lines in both directions. Experimental results show the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performance in the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the UrbanLF-Syn dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

The two-dimensional structure of a random gain medium was designed to obtain the specified emission spectrum from a random laser. Structural optimization was performed using a direct binary search method. The simulation results showed that the emitted light can be concentrated within one or more specific wavelength ranges. The effect of the fabrication errors on the optimized laser emission spectrum was also examined.

In recent years there has been a great interest in investigating the dynamic properties of fractional systems, described by differential or difference equations of non-integer order. A number of manuscripts have been written regarding the presence of chaos in fractional maps characterized by the existence of both 'self-excited attractors' and 'hidden attractors However, most of the papers have dealt with the underlying theory in chaotic dynamics, rather than the hardware implementation of the maps. Specifically, referring to the realization of fractional maps with 'hidden attractors no paper has been published so far. The paper aims to bridge the gap between theory and implementation by presenting the first example of hardware realization of a three-dimensional (3D) fractional map characterized by coexisting chaotic hidden attractors. The manuscript exploits first the Grunwald-Letnikov fractional difference operator to introduce a new class of chaotic discrete systems without fixed points. Then, the coexistence of several chaotic hidden attractors is shown, along with the coexistence of a number of bifurcations, depending on the values of the initial conditions. Finally, the conceived 3D fractional map is implemented in hardware via a microcontroller. The motivation is to probe the presence of coexisting chaotic hidden attractors in real working systems described by non-integer order difference equations. © 2023 IEEE.

Digitalization is transforming information, data, and activities across various sectors such as business, communication, education, and government through technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT). This transformation presents new opportunities but also raises concerns about privacy and data security. Palembang City Governance is currently enhancing urban development through e-Government initiatives, and the Department of Communication and Informatics, as the driving force behind this transformation, has yet to evaluate its IT risk management processes, which are crucial for addressing system disruptions, data breaches, and cyberattacks. This study evaluates IT risk management in the e-Government application by the Department of Communication and Informatics using COBIT 2019, a comprehensive and integrated framework for managing information technology that helps organizations achieve their business objectives by leveraging technology. The processes assessed, such as APO12, have already reached a maturity level of 4 (Quantitative), while EDM03, APO13, DSS04, and DSS05 have achieved a maturity level of 3 (Defined), and BAI10 remains at a maturity level of 2 (Managed). To improve it's maturity level, as well as to ensure that all risks can be managed and to mitigate potential risks, ongoing improvement efforts and gradual enhancements to systems and performance are needed in the e-Government Management Division of the Department of Communication and Informatics of Palembang City.

Industry 4.0 is transforming manufacturing environments, with robotics being a key technology that enhances various capabilities. The flexibility of Autonomous Mobile Robots has led to the rise of multi-robot systems in industrial settings. Considering the high cost of these robots, it is essential to determine the best fit of number and type before making any major investments. Simulation and modeling are valuable decision-support tools, allowing the simulation of different setups to address robot fleet sizing issues. This paper introduces a decision-support framework that combines a fleet manager software stack with the FlexSim simulator, helping decision-makers determine the most suitable mobile robots fleet size tailored to their needs. Unlike previous approaches, the developed solution integrates the same real robot coordination software in both simulation and actual deployment, ensuring that tested scenarios accurately reflect real-world conditions. A case study was conducted to evaluate the framework, involving multiple tasks of loading and unloading materials within a warehouse. Five different scenarios with varying fleet sizes were simulated, and their performances assessed. The analysis concluded that, for the case study under consideration, a fleet of three robots was the most suitable, considering relevant key performance indicators. The results confirmed that the developed solution is an effective alternative for addressing the problem and represents a novel technology with no prior state-of-the-art equivalents. © 2025 IEEE.
